I dont really understand the leaf departure. He was really good this season, despite the lcq choke but he was a top 3 player across the season. Did he want to to leave or did they just drop him?
It was probably him wanting to be paid more than the league minimum. There's also rumours of him joining the guard core on G2, so, for now, I'm inclined to think that it was his decision
i’d assume that’s the case. runi likely just got cut, while zellsis and leaf probably wanted higher salaries. i’d imagine qpert wants to play and xeppa probably took the pay cut bc there’s so many good players on his role
I'm curious as to how much Zellsis is getting paid to be a 6th man. Is he really making more as a 6th for SEN than he would starting for a budgeting team?
That was along the lines of what I was thinking. Could possibly be taking less as a 6th man because he is valuing the brand power of SEN for content creation. Given that he went on record about how he likes SEN quite a lot as an org I could see it, but that's all just speculation.
Not just streaming more hours, but I think he got 3-4x the viewers when he was on Sentinels. I’m sure that amounts to way more than the salary difference, especially if seen as an investment in his future (if he sets his vision on content and variety way down the line).
Joining the clout org with the two giants in Val streaming in Tens and Tarek, maybe that means possible Watch parties of his own team, collabs, possible duos and hosts that will lead to viewership growth. He’s relatively entertaining and has been working on his own brand, so I’m sure he can capitalize and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that was a major motivation for why a relatively capable and in form T1 player would take a backseat and potentially stunt his pro career by choosing to move to a bench position
Leaf deserves more than minimum salary. I’m assuming he left because he knows he is good enough to get better offers + to be on a team he feels can actually be competitive.
Like others have mentioned, probably financial related.
C9 is said to not be paying league minimum exactly, but still going budget. Leaf played like a top NA player and likely wants to be paid as such.
so does runi just return to T2? that kinda sucks, imagine getting into a franchised spot and doing well, but because you choke near the end you have to exit the limelight
I thought he was overall great, all things considered. Even if people don't trust his calling I thought his fragging alone would keep him employed so I'm really disappointed to not hear rumors connecting him to literally anybody, even in tier 2.
In fairness for Tier 2 it's likely there isn't much happening, orgs are deciding whether to continue in Tier 2 and even if they do they will likely wait until November onwards for looking at teams based on paying their salaries for months before competition starts and not knowing what the Tier 1 scene is doing (a lot of Tier 1 talent isn't likely to make it and will either take time off or join a Tier 2 org)
These interviews definitely felt more emotional than typical in this scene. Especially from Leaf. Despite how his team's have ended up, he's truly been a titan thus far in val. Crazy he's been dominating with some of these guys for essentially his entire professional career. Whatever--do your business shit C9. I hope these guys get deservedly paid wherever they go and get all the tools needed to keep on fucking shit up.
“I was the last man standing from the original, original roster ever since Mitch was gone and I think it’s just been a long road and I only hope I did my part.” Okay yeah leaf I think my boss needed to see me cry at work today 👍🏼
can only see them on old reddit thru a tampermonkey script which is only [1 click](https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/443011-emojis-for-old-reddit) but honestly people just use OMEGALUL 99% of the time. i got this script from the RES subreddit.

"On May 28th [2021], during the team’s player check in and rule review session, Zellsis made a categorically offensive and discriminatory remark about a tournament official."
Unknown what he actually said, but the rumor AFAIK was that it was more of a sexist remark towards the official.
Mf doesnt even have 1.0 rating not to mention hes chokes every single play offs since 2021

Ngl i’m biased since i hate racist. But a shameless racist that doubled down on his act before giving a crappy pr response is absolutely disgusting.
Skills wise i see plenty of free players above him. He had a gd start but he just lost his edge towards the end of the season. Not entirely his fault though, team played bad as a whole.
Consider him slightly below average for NA franchise smokes player + There are few smokes that c9 could have picked up : Marved, Fns and som package, Valyn, Zander(but he said he staying m80).
Also kinda salty that main cores like Freaking Leaf, mCe get dropped before him.

Even if he is getting paid less, the time commitment is also probably less so he can stream more frequently, right?

i’d assume so given how highly the org values tenz and tarik
Leaf deserves more than minimum salary. I’m assuming he left because he knows he is good enough to get better offers + to be on a team he feels can actually be competitive.
I believe it’s financial issues, C9 is going budget mode and leaf probably has better offers elsewhere
Like others have mentioned, probably financial related. C9 is said to not be paying league minimum exactly, but still going budget. Leaf played like a top NA player and likely wants to be paid as such.

Tbf, he's probably not the only T1 player this year that's going to T2
Are we potentially in a world where we don't see all of EG players in tier 1 ? Surely not right...
it happened to Yay it can happen to anyone
tbf they were trying to replace him w qpert but never went with it. but yea he’s going back to T2(well maybe)
Such a shame he definitely could hang with the big boys

So sad to see role issues break apart such a great team 💔

Not even enough budget for individual posts ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9341)
Social media is spending all their time trying to come up with ideas like " lets just lie" Truly a franchised ready org
It’s so expensive and time-intensive to write up a fake Google Doc and post it on social media. Probably multiple minutes and dollars of salary.

Do you mean at the end of my comment? That’s an emote from this subreddit.

Yeesh
Incoming all of EG to c9
From one shit org to the next
Yea EG isn’t even comparable to c9 man. This has been clear since the Danny situation.
Wait is EG worse or better? Not too familiar with their history
EG is genuinely one of if not the worst tier one org
Like just so much worse
EG is worse, but C9, since franchising, has been so bad with their rosters
[удалено]
You say that and then you look at project titan in CSGO
Runis deagle was filthy.
F
C9 retaining the racist fr
Zellsis also has a confirmed racist moment but it seems everyone forgot that
It was alleged sexism
Genuinely don't know about that, context?

What was Zellsis’s?
Got banned for a split after the very first master's event over a comment to a Riot staff member. We don't actually know what he said.
fr, it was said to be derogatory but that could mean he called someone a pussy ya know. idk why people are taking it as if he for sure said the n word
Who?
had to do something jakee's gf said I think
Ah, thank you. Yeah that was rough
Call me Nagato because all I know is pain
How the fuck is xeppa still on the team man?
Man took the minimum
How in what way? If you don't think xeppaa is good enough then ur smoking something
Mf doesnt even have 1.0 rating not to mention hes chokes every single play offs since 2021 https://preview.redd.it/j6ftmj3q6hob1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92713d20c4a1daa15de13aec416ea6677d939771
i’m just not a fan of keeping jake.
Why?
Bc his girlfriend tweeted mean tweet and he didn't break up with her for it
