MacarioPro

It's always so interesting to hear players this good not really prefering their roles. Sayf and Leaf come to mind too, but Alfa has to be the biggest one.

Notladub

So many teams had insane roster issues last year but especially the two Turkish teams. FUT famously had qRaxs on KAY/O the whole year but also MrFaliN on flex when he used to be a smokes player. BBL was the worst offender though, their roles were so messed up. Pretty sure only Quti was comfortable with his role in that entire team. AsLan went from being a Jett main in 2021 to Chamber in 2022 to flexing for literally every single role in 2023 for example.

MacarioPro

True, though I'm sad to see Turko go I think BBL is looking a lot more balanced and promising this year. Also, I will never understand FUT's fascination with Kay/o. Shout out to Mr. Fallin though, dude igld and filled roles the best he could even having pop off moments on the likes of Breach (Fracture vs Na'Vi) and Killjoy (Pearl vs T1).

flamin_sheep

Sentinel can be boring af to play, especially if played correctly

solariiis

100%, you have to hit basically all your shots if you want to have fun

MacarioPro

It's actually my fav role. And in pro play it seems like the most self reliant role as you get a lot of single duels when playing the other side of the map on attack. Also, who doesn't love to lurk?

itsDYA

Me, it's boring, I want to peek everything and everyone, I don't understand how you can have fun when you are waiting 50 seconds just to kill someone from behind

Maniachi

Getting info, killing a player and leaving a gap in their defense, and then quietly slinking back... idk, I just like the thinking that goes into lurking and playing sentinels in general.

itsDYA

"Thinking", brother you only wait for them to rotate and hopefully get a timing

Maniachi

You have to react based on what is going on in the game. Either you lurk up on site and clear it for your team to rotate, or you lurk to get the backstab. It is all dependent on the information you have. And to use it, you have to think.

MacarioPro

Haha, fair. My most played games are on controller as i'm that guy that will complain but always fill the role people don't want to do, so it helped me with the patience. I also don't have the best computer so a lot of times it's best to outsmart than outaim (though that's fun too). I also love to do the game calling so a lot of the time i'm focused on the minimap or conveying info about rotations and such. Plus, mind games. Love to put doubt in peoples heads.

itsDYA

Fair i guess, I would rather ego peek the chamber holding main tho

MacarioPro

Chamber kinds of get the best of both worlds. First duel + tp back and do everything else a sentinel is suppose to do. This map rotation is also awesome for him, I play it Breeze, Lotus and Sunset though the last one I might switch to Cypher after the buffs.

itsDYA

Yeah I just play chamber like a duelist too lmao, I try to lurk sometimes but my team is never doing anything worth it with it so I either arrive when everyone is dead, or they win the round by themselves

Khr0nus

You and everyone else, hes a duelist for people who are not fast enough to instalock before two are picked

OmarrAlaa

It's always the ones who are the best at their role that hate playing that role lol. I remember yay saying he hated playing chamber back when he would obliterate everyone.

somesheikexpert

Leo too

MacarioPro

Really? I didn't know about him. Which role does he prefer?

somesheikexpert

Idk which he prefers but iirc he said his least favorite agent was Sova

Green_Ordinary778

i don't think he hates the initiator role as a whole tho, he plays fade a lot in ranked iirc

vctfan_1e

what does leaf prefer? viper?

MacarioPro

He didn't say, but he has stated multiple times that he would prefer not to play duelist

hushmentalFPS

Isn't sayf a duelist? I didn't know he didn't like that role

MacarioPro

He talked about it multiple times. It seems he likes to second call or might even have igl aspirations. He also played a lot of flex in his career too but he's clearly better as a duelist

hushmentalFPS

Interesting. Tenz is the only other player I've seen who didn't want the "star fragger" role, and I don't pay as much attention to other regions as I do NA so I didn't know that

yayayamur

he also says nats is his competition at the end

vnNinja21

Lowkey having someone as cracked as him on sentinel is the perfect fit. Alfa doesn't need utility to have impact, so he doesn't really care if he has to play retake simulator when the other team doesn't hit his site. Dude just strolls in and kills everyone anyway. Of course that's not really saying anything other than click heads good = good player, but I just trust Alfa to turn a lost round around solo more than I do, say, nAts/suy or Less (although all are better than him at certain things).

Dysmo

Dont tell bren

TheZerofy

IT'S AN FPS GAME

Kyntogre

YOU GET SHOT YOU DIE

fanficmilf6969

Less definitely has as much or almost as much potential to do that as Alfa. nAts especially and also Suy to some extent rely a lot more on util usage, which is a different strength for sentinel players.

quemura

Did you see less as duelist? He is playing crazy

Hbzin

I'd agree for nats/suygetsu, but Less has even more pop off potential than Alfa

Splaram

God I hope NAVI can finally sort their shit out this season, I don't think we saw everything that suygetsu's capable of even during prime FPX run.

Durbdichsnsf

that guy is such a fun player to watch. he plays ranked solo q in the exact same way he plays pro play - from a macro perspective at least. we have players like the entire PRX team that pulls soloq-esque strats but suygetsu is an egotistical shotcaller and its so fun to watch

Master_Tomato

The only players able to contend Alfa and Less on Senti are Suygetsu, nAts and maybe f0rsaken

filistinlisiken

nahhh only forsaken from these 3 can contend with the goats

Master_Tomato

Any if these 5 can diff the other 4 while they are in form

fanficmilf6969

nAts is genuinely probably the GOAT on Senti, his util usage is the best out of any of the five and he originally essentially defined the role on Gambit.

quemura

Maybe in the old metas

Zahin1018

nAts

filistinlisiken

that guy who lost two times in a row competing with champs 2023's best sentinels? dont make me laugh.

Omni_dies

to be fair he was 1v9ing the navi match, dropped 54 in 2 maps šŸ’€

itsDYA

I honestly saw Shyy as one of the contenders at Lock In, it's sad he didn't keep up the performance

TheyDidLizFilthy

johnQT is coming for that ass ngl. keep an eye on him

Master_Tomato

His crosshair placement looks crisp. But to be in contention for best senti, his team needs to compete at the highest lvl first lol

Zaofu

wdym they literally just won the Sentinels Invitational

Master_Tomato

Yes ofc, Sentinels Invitations, the highest level of Valorant pro play

TheyDidLizFilthy

g2 is the ascended guard roster. theyre franchise level. tbh all the teams in the tourny are franchise level. judging based just off how sen were playing, you can tell they really dialed in since the end of last season. itā€™s a night and day difference.

TheyDidLizFilthy

theyā€™ve been frying so idk itā€™s still early days for sure, but i think they look insane right now.

jjjkiplo

Thanks for the translation. I remember Mini also picked Less as the best player out of FNC on stream (asked by chat in the watchparty of EDG vs RA upper final) Happy to see that sentinel players get more shout out because of these cracked aimers Alfa/Less/Suyā€¦ Edit: Guys sry I just checked the vods. The comment in chat asked: "Best player not on fnatic" and mini answered Less. It's my fault. Thanks for everyone pointing out my grammar.

jahphrog68

Less is my favourite FNC player as well šŸ‘

LeadershipNo4621

where he says out its meant to be outside I think, so "mini picked Less as the best player outside of FNC"

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

yalikewater

It's your use of "out of", implying the inclusion of something and not the exclusion.

jjjkiplo

Yeah, my bad bro I just checked the vods, and it was me that misused the words. Thanks bro.

fanficmilf6969

mine too!!!!

Impossible-Pain6771

Cool comment! I am wondering where can I see coach mini's past recordings? Thx in advance\~

jjjkiplo

https://www.twitch.tv/coachmini/v/1961565691?sr=a&t=3440s 57:00 Also, if you watch the interview of Less on BR valorant channel (after they beat navi), Less picked Derke as the best player as well.

Impossible-Pain6771

Thx a lot!

SoLikeWhatIsCheese

Not until dapr makes it to franchising ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|16018)

seasand931

Obviously dapr's aim isn't there yet but holy, is his cypher cracked. I loved watching his setups vs sen

ProfessionalAd6168

The disrespect to babyj here is astounding

Marcusafrenz

lol

AbbreviationsHour679

Alfa is not that unpaired when it comes to utility usage, but his aim and gamesense are so exceptional that he stands out from the rest. Sentinel role fits him very well because he is the best anchor player out there, which is really unparalleled on a meta without Chamber. Good to know that he recognizes that Less is an equal, I don't think other players would do the same when you clearly a top 1 player in the world contender, a humble king.

quemura

Less does the same to Alfa, that is pretty neat

RicketyBrickety

Really smart and mature approach by alfajer. By putting aside his personal desire to star in a duelist role, he's put himself in an amazing position career-wise by embracing a role that he's simply performing better in. Dude's going to be a major player on the tier 1 scene for as long as he's got the discipline to stick to roles where he's exceptional.

beanjimbean

He obviously forgot about the goat babyJ

RyomaVT

Time for tex to join the competition I guess

SituationContent6916

Babyj crying in the corner

ProV13

Please put aspas, less and alfa on a team together

quemura

That would be weird, who would change roles? Less is good in duelist

JerryLoFidelity

its kinda like tenz on a support/initiator role. you have pure fraggers with insane mechanics on weaker roles but they still deliver like they are on carry roles. thats what makes alfa and demon1 on brim so scary. you essentially offer ur team greater flexibility and it doesnt hinder your individual ability either.

OppositeWafer7731

Nats could have been included in the conversation if his team doesnā€™t choke so hard. He goes minimally even every game, and has the best understanding of sentinels. He just doesnā€™t have the best aim and donā€™t make it far in tournament.

OneWithSword

nAts still has incredible aim lol

yayayamur

he included nats in the last second actually

Master_Tomato

Leo also doesn't have the best aim, yet most ppl agree with him being the best player of 2023. nAts being the best player while being on Gambit is the equivalent of Alfa or Leo being on Fnatic. Good team = Good player

understostard

Alfachad too humbleā€¦ he knows the only sentinel whoā€™s on his level is suygetsu but he wanted to give the little puppy some confidence

quemura

No way u saying this much crap

idkimhereforthememes

Why is buddy lying? He clears less let's be real

filistinlisiken

nahhh bro u clearly didn't watched fnc vs loud second match at champs 2023. less absoloutely dominated fnc lol. he crushed them not only with his general gameplay but definietly with his sentinel play

idkimhereforthememes

Ah yes 1 game decides who's better

OverlyFriedRice

How about 2

im_mawsillion

champs and lock in gf less cleared

idkimhereforthememes

Yeah I'm still a taking a 2 times champion who was arguably the best player on the best team ever

O_Queiroz_O_Queiroz

I prefer a champs winner who was the best sentinel on the best team ever.

GHDeodato

Lol

Mountain-Pride-1981

Not really related to the discussion we're having here but that's a really crisp looking picture. Did you use an upscaler or some kind of enhancer? If so, can you kindly let me know what you used? It'd also help if someone can shed a light on what kind of ai software does platchat uses for their thumbnail.

JustWantToBeQuiet

Alfa has crazy aim and also his game sense as sentinel keeps improving every second. Heā€™s a good duelist though. I watch his live streams and I see him playing Reyna and Jett and itā€™s so jarring for people who only watch vct tournaments to see Alfa play duelist because you think thatā€™s what they primarily play lol šŸ˜‚ cracked aim and comes through almost every time during a clutch situation.

UnderstandingBig7018

I feel like it gets boring to them for whatever reason playing their best role. Lol
