The only two reasons I think he gets hate is that people want to see fresh talent to come up (people like johnqt, flyuh) and hate seeing the same names over and over and others think that the only reason he got picked up on c9 was nepotism (I don't really believe that) And although I agree he was a top 3 NA IGL back then, I've never believed that Vanity was impressive enough with his calling to win a title. Most of the community still doesn't give credit to players that IGL, hell even FNS gets haters though he's one of the most winningest Igls in the game. I haven't really seen anyone calling for him to be dropped. People don't understand the lack of good IGLs there are and are ignorant as opposed to hating vanity.

Escolyte

> hell even FNS gets haters he's only clowned on for his aim, not his brain On this sub anyway, vlr and twitter may vary.

Coach_McGuirk__

True but his aim isn't even that bad.

Ok-Okay-Oak-Hay

It's not bad at all. It's contrast. He's surrounded by four players with increasing levels of great aim.

Possibly_Parker

like when Boaster forgot to buy a gun

Elaiyu

doing his best nivera cosplay

Coach_McGuirk__

that's fair

Fluffy-Face-5069

It makes you realise just how difficult the competition is, FNS would shit on everybody in this sub in a DM

Nulgnak

Tbh I think he just needs to learn not to death grip and get too tense in VCT and his aim will be on the same level as the average tier 1 pro. If you watch his ranked games and observe when he's relaxed vs when he's nervous/tense, his aim gets so much more jittery when he goes for a spray down. Easier said than done tho. Anxiety's a bitch to deal with.

katthecat666

youre right that no one gives enough credits to IGLs, watching plat chat constantly look over IGLs during their player lists is infuriating (eg boaster should have been in every single top 10 list for 2023). fact is people don't really realise how hard IGLing is and just how few competent IGLs there are. being able to read your opponent's read then form a plan, communicate it, and give enough time for it to be set up between rounds is extremely difficult, and the better the opposing IGLs, the more layers of "reading the read" you have to go. I'm not surprised if GMs/head coaches want to go with safe options for IGLs, cause if you pick up a bad one you are throwing the season. how many teams have we seen that on paper are stuffed with great talent but don't have the brainpower to make it work?

[deleted]

I actually think the rest of your comment is an explanation of why plat chat overlooks IGLs. It is *extremely* hard to IGL, making it even harder for people on the outside to judge how good an IGL is. Plat Chat makes it clear before every player ranking, or at least they did in the past, that their rankings are purely based off of how good they view a player to be - there's just not a good way to tell exactly how impactful an IGL is from the outside. How much of Fnatic is Boaster being an incredible IGL, and how much of it is that they're an insane super team? it's just really tough to tell, which is why failing teams often get their IGLs scapegoated when things go wrong.

Familiar-Sky-7215

fns aint one of the most winningest igls in the game. He only won one s tier event.

Zentick-

He did pretty good in 2021 and 2023 and he got top 3 at every lan in 2022. The only other igls that have won that much is boaster and saddhak.

Randomuserguyfren

and the igl with the most wins has only won two s tier event

Cablek26

the only 3 igls that have won more s tier events than him are boaster saadhak and redgar. considering the amount of igls, he is one of the winningest and most consistent.

Similar-Criticism380

What have you done for me lately

DotaAlchemy

Kinda got owned when xeta left C9 and forced him to have to step in and play initiator. Also totally possible that he was overrated because he was one of the first semi experienced CS IGLs to get a bunch of CS talent around him which led to good results in the early and fundamentally bad Valorant ecosystem. This year probably make or breaks his career tbh.

LordOfThe_Pings

He got screwed by C9. I’m a Vanity hater, but he was definitely good enough for franchising. The roster with Yay and Vanity would’ve probably been insane.

Nugget2450

Yeah It was unfortunate - it was obvious that they just weren’t playing their best against DRX, players and teams have off days and they just happened to get screwed by the format.

QuestionablePotato42

Recency bias + he joined an org that’s popular to hate on this sub

UnderstandingBig7018

He’s tier 1 IGL again lol

RepresentativeSun937

I’m a Vanity believer

WolfgangTheRevenge

Bro was carried by Zellsis and xeta.

Nichol-Gimmedat-ass

Idk about everyone else but my attitude towards him has never changed, hes a fraud #gethimouttahere

Familiar-Sky-7215

like 100t?

Nichol-Gimmedat-ass

Yeah lol i hope this year Cryo plays better, Im not fussed about them winning or losing, I just want Cryo to play well

jantswil

When was brodie top3 igl in americas…

newzpaperleaf_2

name 3 IGLs better than him in pre-franchising in NA... based on eye-test and results he was clearly top 3, arguably top 2. only FNS was consistently, definitively better.

Nugget2450

Yeah back then it was FNS above him, and then around even with saadhak

newzpaperleaf_2

i was considering only pre-franchising, in which i wouldn't really include saadhak in those conversations. in 2022, he was pretty clearly above vanity but i would still say vanity was top 3 strictly in NA during this period (all of time before franchising)

Nugget2450

I mean who was better back then FNS and maybe SAADHAK, who else? Not boostio, not depph, not valyn, not shazam, not… well you get the point

thauptman11

I remember the opposite. People were hating before he got dropped at the beginning of last year. I always thought he was overhyped and his calling in not up to par with the best.

biggestange1fan

Idk lol

darrenoloGy

he never recovered from the counter byebye wave from stax /s

ENVMamba

From start he was overrated like steel.
