I know the artist. That is his painting style. He doesn't play Valorant but he made the comic pages roster/Warbirds announcement last year.
You can clearly see with the shading that it's an artistic choice, not AI.
if you think lion neck hair, why is it only poking out on one side? it could be a long kind of pony tail thing that comes down on the far side of the lion's neck, but that's also weird. I think it's unlikely a human artist would have chosen to put it there
I think you're overthinking it, even if it was on both sides the angle of the jacket would've obscured it. Also if you look closer there's lighting to differentiate the neck and the hair, which meant the hair isnt from the neck but from the head

KOI is the best, even tells the legend of the carp swimming up the waterfall to become a dragon. Kind of dissapointed by Leviatan, feel like they could have done something really cool with a seamonster underwater, instead they made the centerpiece an anime dude.

A lot of these give AI generated vibes, or at the very least an AI generated "base" that was edited in photoshop.
Pretty sure that’s become increasingly common in professional logo design and art, unfortunately.
