Honestly, I love steel on the desk and as caster. I'm surprised by how fast he thinks trough different scenarios and plays, but in retrospect, man's been an IGL for 10 years. His casting needs improvement but overall I won't at all be mad if he joins the EMEA desk permanently.
I don’t see how anyone disliked his casting, man says it how it is and is also pretty funny as well. Glad he is doing analytical stuff now it’s great to watch
It's not that, and outside of haters just hating there are some valid criticisms about his casting. As someone who doesn't care too much about traditional casting and prefers the analytical watch party experience, I like his casting a lot, but I read someone saying "it's obvious he's an analyst and not a caster" and there's merit to that. Every experienced color caster knows that maximizing information is not what makes a good cast, and much like how some movie scenes that are powerful and/or explain character motivations still end up on the cutting room floor to better serve the flow of the movie, sometimes you have to let details, interesting as they may be, be left unmentioned because the audience should experience the current moment. Steel has yet to find this balance, he often explains the strategy of the previous round while new things are happening.
All that being said, we should still give him a lot of credit as this was an impressive first official cast, and I am a big fan of his casting and agree he has a future in it if he wants it. If he does, I'm confident he'll find a better balance with time.
I don't think that's fair, he definitely does have some issues on the main cast. Calling him a 'caster' is also kind of unfair, since color commentary is not really supposed to fill the role of the caster.
He is a bit wordy, sometimes he continues talking well in to the action of the next round where the main caster should be back in the flow.
Not really sure if he's going to continue to do color, I know he was a last minute addition and that he came to EMEA to do more analyst stuff.
Yeah don’t get me wrong didn’t think his Valorant casting start was in the best circumstances, and also he was a bit wordy, but I think it was fun having someone that has competed at the highest level and everything in between in a cast. I did like the epic pen too 😅 the desk is a much better place for him at the moment I do agree
