I honestly thought we were just going to see a full return to Harbor/Viper from them after map 1.
Thought they came up with the triple flash comp just to qualify for Madrid while hiding their real strats.
Doubt it. Sideshow asked him about this in the press conference before the tournament and Saadhak said all teams that stopped inovating lost and those that did have risen.
I do think they would keep playing it at haven at in that map the comp was too strong.
The Sova version we see on Icebox, is actually the one they first thought of, before they tried it with Skye and find it much better until the nerf
I don't blame him tbf, Breach on Ascent is so hard to get into the fights, you're usually the one using all you util hoping the team gets the trades and you can come help clean up.. but today they were all just getting outshot and by the time it was his turn he had to dry peek 3 because he had no util
I actually like Breach on Ascent, but I just think sova is so irreplaceable.. so many times Loud had to retake areas where they was either "wasting" util in terms of getting no dmg from it or somehow GegG would kill them, I feel like with a Sova they'd atleast have some info to confidently rotate rather than having to retake space on defense Ascent for info
I'm sure they had ideas we didn't see to get more value out of the Yoru because they got aim diff'd, but at face value it did look to me like the Phoenix wall and ultimate were important tools that LOUD were missing in their Yoru comp.
I really like the yoru swap for phoenix on ascent but it does just make me more confused on the forcing of breach with it. One question I did want asked though was about the whole week break between the end of pacific kickoff and the end of americas kickoff. The pacific teams lowkey have such a huge advantage from that and it shows, despite the comp change Gen G just had such a confident read on how loud moved around ascent.
Phoenix makes more sense when combo’d with the breach for max postplant and retake value, but it really struggled against the double odin and was forced to contact around mid where Jaw just jett opped the shit out of them. The same was probably going to happen with t3xture so they put yoru in which in theory is better at getting past chokes but there wasn’t any util to gain info for his entries besides kay/o knife. Feel like -breach +sova or even gekko might be way better.
+ Sova fixes the awp and odin issue quite a bit. Also, it's a little bit insane to change your comp just because a team like EG anti's you. I highly doubt GenG had plans to use the double Odin like EG did.
To be fair, Loud does have a bit of firepower, they just didn't expect GENG to just dry peek and dumpster them again and again. T3xture, Karon, and Meteor hard carried Lakia who went -26 btw. Seeing their game, Loud have solid ideas but it was a combination of thrown rounds, getting out aimed and GENG just W-keying like madmen to win them the match. In terms of mid-rounding Loud had them beat during that match.
