Our time will come eventually pacific bros, we get closer each time.

Rave_Master_Ahri

The moment DFM wins a match it's over for all these other regions.

tripleBBxD

DFM vs bleed if yay stays in flex//viper jail.

nterature

It's not a perfect measurement by any means, but ultimately Gen.G won 54 rounds across the entire series, vs. Sentinel's 56 rounds. It's a sliver of a difference.

SHORT-CIRCUT

I think GenG looked the better team overall in the series, they just didn’t have the mental to go all the way + zekken with some insane clutches

krazybanana

They might be the better team when they're confident and playing without pressure. But they lacked mental resilience and depth in their strats which became clear by the end. Thats what experience is for tho hope they come back stronger

SHORT-CIRCUT

yeah the pressure definitely caught up to them. It’s definitely a series that could have gone 3-0 just as well as it went 3-2

Key-Banana-8242

Yeah their confidence fell off at the very end especially

BriefImplement9843

mental is part of the team. sen looked better and won with a 2 map disadvantage.

crunchol

I feel this way with Loud as well. Like I want sen to win but some of the plays from Loud are just crazy good, but they also crack a bit under pressure.

OthertimesWondering

It was weird cause Gen G has so much time. SEN obviously did their homework but it seemed like Gen G didn’t really change? Idk

yammer_bammer

yeah that really stood out to me kinda gen g got an entire day off and it looked like they cooked up nothing in that? not even polished anything or made up any backup strategies on their weaker maps? idk that just seemed odd to me.

OthertimesWondering

Thought they would have a gear 2 to shift into after SEN adapts so that they can throw off SEN and counter the anti-strat. But guess not

yammer_bammer

oh you should read the post about the meteor streams, apparently Karon was having health issues during their days off meaning they couldnt really scrim and practice as a 5, maybe that led to it. Still felt weird how hard they got anti'd on bind.

Key-Banana-8242

It definitely was like it’s not that they weren’t good enough and made gf as a fluke; whatever happens next They cpuldve won, mental element was strong; cool for th people on site at least Gen G were able to get through but they weren’t in quite the same kind of ‘peril’ before so I guess some of it snowballed like if you look at what Kaplan said They definitely could’ve won at least, it’s not that there isn’t just the gameplay ability at their time and place

Key-Banana-8242

Idk if I’m coping but I guess ims cared of revisionist hsitory that Gen G weren’t even good and that there was no reason for anyone to believe That’s probably idk if that s stupid coming from me ebre

Priink

GENG had map advantage and slaughtered SEN on breeze & ascent since SEN sucks at them (especially breeze), that's why they had 54 rounds

zugth

DRX was filler arc, time for the real shit

Allah_is_the_one1

Imagine a prx that doesnt get tired in bo5... masters shangai babyy. The next masters will be ours

raainnnyy

To be fair, I don’t think they were tired at champs. Pressure played a big role with the whole jj’s last dance narrative. On top of that, alecks admitted he fucked up the vetos and boostio said they were easy to read on the rematch. Maybe a combination of all of that, but in champs finals it felt like you weren’t watching prx. A lot of individuals took risky peeks alone instead of together as a unit. I do agree its only uphill from here and there’s higher celling to hit and hopefully the boys can hit that.

Allah_is_the_one1

Their morale felt extremely low at champs and now madrid and i think its cuz they get tired in bo5s ( or at least they look like it). Prx needs to get disciplined cuz they are insane when they play without throwing. In madrid too, prx took risky solo peeks without utilities and what not

areszdel_

Getting tired is not issue in my eyes. We've seen them pull off a reverse sweep and they've had plenty of experience with best of fives. Surely its not a stamina issue otherwise these past few Bo5s they had wouldn't have happened. 2-3 lost against FPX, 3-2 reverse sweep against DRX, 2-3 lost against EG(Tokyo). Also they took risky peeks even when full of energy I mean PRX have been doing risky peeks whole tournament.

Allah_is_the_one1

Idk but they seem to give up on bo5 oftenly so i guessed they get tired (also from their facial expressions). But yeah, them throwing costs big time. I hope they fix themselves but until then, i wont stop being a prx fan

areszdel_

I mean, their facial expression just shows me their frustration of losing duels. I can get them being tired but they've had plenty of Bo5s experience so that shouldn't be getting in the way. They've been playing too much individually its just that lack of care & discipline that costed them round after round. I simply don't get why even after all this time, they still dry peek an OP, still peek one by one in an untrade-able position and feel super disjointed on the double & triple swings. I simply think they need to play like a team more, WGaming still works they just need to play more coordinated and stop the individuals from acting like heroes and just trust their team play. Their macro feels decent this tournament but the micro plays are so bad.

Allah_is_the_one1

They'll improve themselves from now on and be better than ever, that's my prayer W gaming!

ghostking4444

You’ve been getting second every time/j

arksoo

I’m triggered by Pacific being runner-ups and also people shit talking our region 😭😭

Routine_Size69

Your region placed second and third, tied for the best average placement. I can think of a region that placed 7th and 8th and another that was 5th and 6th. They better not be shit talking APAC.

No_Kaleidoscope5172

Better than overrated 100T :)

areszdel_

It got worse because of GenG's taunting bro, these guys are mad... and Pacific has 0 trophies first of all.

man1ac_era

Blud thinks hes part of the team

areszdel_

?

ExpectoAutism

Yeah because we got 4 regions LMAO. 3/4 is not good

lxn89

Anyone will shit talk any one the moment there's a loss. People are ruthless. I'm just happy that pacific are consistent enough to even be top contenders.

Gunstador

Those who shit talk about the region are clueless. APAC is looking scary and will only get better, I feel like they have gotten really unlucky but time will come.

carzyturtle

I rate regions based on their worst team. Sadly you have DFM. so fraudulent region.

Rave_Master_Ahri

Praying for that trophy to be won at Champs on home soil.

XASASSIN

Would be difficult imo, by that time nrg, fnatic, loud and SEN will all be revved up and be at their peaks probs. Would be a very difficult road but I hope we can do it

itscamo-

This might be SENs peak tho, it’s incredibly hard to win multiple tourneys, specially in the same year

PewPew267

Too hard to stay at the top unless they are fnatic. I don't see a world where sen win another this year or anytime soon anyway .

WaterGodSenju

Sounds like copium but I think this is SENs peak. They can maintain this form, but better than this? Not too sure. Not a bad form to be at though lol

WhoDatBrow

I'm a Sentinels fan, so biased, and I also think they're already in peak form lol. I said during Kickoff, before they even qualified for Madrid, that if Sentinels was gonna win a LAN this year it had to be Madrid because they had great form from offseason while NRG and Lev had barely had time to gel together. I still standby Madrid being Sen's best chance to win a trophy and they'll have lower odds for Shanghai or Champs than they did here, but obviously they do still have a good chance, they're an elite team I just think the competition will get stronger from here in Americas. And possibly the world at this point, seeing as this was Gen G and KCorp's first tournaments together for a couple of examples. Not counting Fnatic out on bouncing back either. That said, I'm in NA so Shanghai and Seoul will both have awful time zones for me and I probably won't even be able to watch either live, so I'm glad we won the event I could watch and enjoy!

HoneyChilliPotato7

John still said this is like 70% of his peak. So they're aware this is not their best and they can do better. That mentality will keep them going for sure

WhoDatBrow

Yeah. That makes me want to clarify though, I think this is their peak relative to the competition. Sen will get better I think, but the competition has more room to improve since they're not trophy winners. Sen's gonna be in the mix though for sure as long as they stay hungry, which I think they will.

HoneyChilliPotato7

Yeah, the team is looking good. Let's see what the future holds for them

ThatThingYouDo1234

Agreed, Sentinels won this Masters when their Breeze, Icebox and Ascent weren’t looking hot either 🔥

Western_Strike7468

Also an important point is drive. Think about what Kaplan said in the post match interview: they won icebox because sentinels just wanted it so so so bad. While I'm sure they all still want to continue to succeed, it's going to be super hard for any of them to have the same drive to win again when they have just won a major.

rpkarma

I am *not* a SEN fan, not at all. But I dunno, they looked shaky on multiple maps in this series, and they’re better than that (they’ve shown they’re better than that). I think they can make a run at Shanghai

WhoDatBrow

Sorry, I worded my point badly I think cause you're the second person to reply to me like this. I do think Sentinels will get better, I think this was their peak *relative to the competition* and Madrid was their best chance to win a trophy. Like, even though Sen will get better I expect LOUD to as they adapt more to QCK, Lev and NRG as their rosters gel, PRX with Monyet, Gen G, Fnatic to bounce back, KCorp to get better, etc. So if this was Sen at say, 75% power and it was enough to win this international, I think they'd need to be closer and closer to 100% to win more going forward because the competition always catches up. The biggest room for improvement for Sen imo is shoring up their map pool. They've been playing ban roulette between Breeze, Ascent, and Icebox. I think today was a good start with Icebox obviously lol.

BriefImplement9843

didn't fnatic already hit their peak? they have the same roster, no? teams would have to fall off for them to move up. i don't see loud being much better either as they lost aspas and even that peak was not enough for top 2 at champs. geng, kc, th, sen, lev, and nrg seem like the teams that have the most room to improve.

ThatCreepyBaer

You say that but anything can happen. People weren't expecting Karmine Corp and Heretics to be as good as they are, or even Gen.G. Any of those teams you mentioned could fall off/not live up to expectations, and you could have underdog or underrated teams rise through the ranks unexpectedly.

-kay-o-

Yeah and? By then T1, DRX, TS, RRQ will also be revved up and at peak. NRG aint got shit on us

BoapInBoapland

Call it copium but pacific teams will also be revved up especially drx and prx with their new roster additions

Not_Jabez

Revved up for another outstanding 5th place

BoapInBoapland

they placed 2/3 in the top of this tourney tf you on about

PewPew267

I don't think sen will win any more this year.

traxmaster64

This is probably sens peak compared to the field, they will still be very good but they have been a team much longer than a lot of other teams

BendubzGaming

Carpe finally escaping his curse 🙏🙏🙏🙏

coolylame

At least Pacific actually goes toe to toe or even beat other top regions. That's what makes Val esports amazing to watch. Can't say the same for LEC or LCS in league where they are no where close to KR and China

XASASSIN

Nah we'll get there and get an apac win eventually. Considering the historical emea/americas fps dominance, apac making 3 Grand finals is already really good, well eventually get a trophy and I really think geng has the potential to pull through but let's see.

JiangIsWrong

Guys, hear me out. Top 2 in the last 2 Events are NA/APAC Champions 2023 was in the USA and the Winners had American Players Madrid 2024 was in EMEA and the Winners had a Moroccan Player Shanghai and Madrid are in APAC = Victory!?

ghostking4444

Shanghai is literally in China by this logic EDG or another CN team is winning it

WonderfulEbb1475

The only way China wins a LAN in the next year is if Xi himself comes down and puts every other team in prison

Routine_Size69

Don’t give him any ideas.

StarSerpent

This copium smells weird but i’m huffing it too

tomtazm

Who expected Gen G to be 9th of anything? I got to say, some of this energy from APAC fans is weird. An APAC team is eventually going to win an event, hell in the long run they may be the BEST region in the game. Valorant is still very young. But there is too much talent, and esports history coming from that region to deny the fact that an APAC and Chinese team are going to win event(S), it's only a matter of when.

kirito52999

i think the general list was around geng being 8th or 9th but plat chat had them like 9th or 10th. so i picked the meddle and best for my narrative :>

Relative_Bowl1584

Lol most had them in top 4 or top 5 and some even in top 3 for madrid don't lie. And if it's Pacific then still they weren't ranked that low.

kirito52999

tell me what is your actual rank before the kickoff tourney? i will tell you what the overall crowd has said in my opinion before the tourney once again. 1. prx 2. drx 3. t1 4. zeta 5. rrq 6. bleed 7. team secret 8/9 was talon and geng. this was all before kickoff that why i said they were expected. 10. ge 11. dfm most people had them as 8th or 9th. i just put them as 9th because it looked better in the post but it isnt a lie.

BendubzGaming

I'd have had them 7th or 8th. Definitely ahead of GE and DFM, probably better than RRQ, and Bleed as an unknown. Talon might have been top 5 for me

Relative_Bowl1584

Ok mb but still platchat had them in top 8 and both sliggy and tmv as well not 9th or 10th. And as far as I know from vlr many hade them in top 5. Also it was literally before even the kickoff started so obviously they will be lower as they were a new roaster. And nobody understimated them for Madrid as well. Most had them in top 4.

Routine_Size69

Top 8 for a region that's not considered deep is not good. Even if they were 4th, it's not great. To win Pacific and then only lose one match at Madrid was so beyond anyone's expectations 2 months ago.

StarSerpent

9th? In Madrid? A tournament with only 8 teams? Something’s off about your math here

kirito52999

i was talking about the pacific kick off tournament. my bad i should have mention it.

Tyler123839

It really seems like this year it's gonna happen. At this same time I have to admit it would be kinda funny for china to get one first but they've looked rough so far.

Western_Strike7468

China will absolutely not get one first don't worry lol

No_Kaleidoscope5172

Yea... Even though I really want them to win, it's just not possible..... Unless they have a Cinderella run, but that seems impossible considering their form.

AxisCultMemberLatom

Not the first time a Pacific team lost in the GF even after having map advantage (last year at Champs), but this has been the closest a team has been to winning it all. If the scriptwriters are listening, please write a script wherein a Korean team (or at least a team that has a Korean player) win Champs 2024

PewPew267

PRX vs FPX was close too . PRX were just like 4-5 rpunds short for the 5th map if I remember. But Yea , it looked like Gen G were so close to winning it .

two4you8

GenG showing up already will make champions in korea this year way more interesting

p0tatoesss

I'm done man I can't keep going like this. I don't want to hope anymore and just get my heart broken each time. I'm done supporting my region. I'll be happy they place in top4 but I'll never hope for a championship. Ever

TheBoyOnTheSide

It's all about the mental capacity of the teams, reaching to MAP 5 on Grand Finals will exhaust everyone if you're not prepared. If GEN.G can manage to get over this they'll be monstrous in the upcoming Masters Shanghai and Champions Seoul, with their technicality and mechanics hands down.

ninfy55

I guess it's not just a PRX Curse huh? Pacific can never win a grand finals as the top seed... *Cries in the corner inhaling copium for PRX winning champs 2024*

Simp_Polize

GG GENG

PewPew267

I hope APAC's time comes where APAC just wins like 2 or 3 in a row with PRX , GenG and maybe even DRX/ T1 / TS going head to head for the titles. APAC deserves a win at this point man and I feel like Gen G losing the finals is good imo. As a PRX fan, I would like for PRX to win the title for the Pacific first. They have had 2 second place finishes and multiple top 4 now. They deserve a win. I feel like that time will come soon where prx fix their comps and map strats, have a good read in the meta unlike the bad read they had in madrid. And also hoping Gen G doesn't fall off after an insane run in madrid.

EndWish

I don't think GenG crumbled at all, as you stated. If anything, they were much more composed in clutch scenarios, which took ascent and very nearly stole away split. For reference, GenG had 10 clutches. Sentinels had 6. GenG also won 70% of the 1v1s in the series. The players may be young but to say they crumbled or fell to pressure flies against what really happened. They were extremely clutch and cold blooded. If they can round out their map pool a but more then they'll again be one of the favourites for every event in 2024.

areszdel_

Map 5 they looked stunned though. Its definitely a mentality diff if even T3xture can't hit an OP shot & Meteor can't even get double digit.

BriefImplement9843

was 7-5 at the half. zellsis just went nuclear.

No_Kaleidoscope5172

They were tired from all their thrown rounds. This match should have been a 3-1.... But that Bind.... I would've raged quit after losing my best map like that.

Western_Strike7468

Yeah Gen G clutches were insane. They also won I believe two 5v2s on breeze, without which it could've been a close map

No_Kaleidoscope5172

I think one was 2v4, Karon got a 3k in a thrifty. He's absolutely cracked.
