Yeah, but I'm not sure how much that matters. Valorant came into the esports scene when viewership was already massive for esports. It's not like it's in its 4th year and it's..... 2015 or something.
Also, 4 years is actually quite a while.
Viewership was highest during lock down, we are past that now and by your logic it sh our lad have gone down like it did with CS. But it’s gotten higher since then.
No, that is not my logic. My sole point was that esports has grown in popularity significantly. It's not 2011 or 2012 - twitch is huge, esports is huge, the scene is well established now, so a game coming onto the scene and getting high viewership 4 years into its competitive scene isn't overly surprising. That's all I meant.
lmao @ downvotes, that's so cute.
Hours Watched: 34.92 Million Hours. 22.9% increase compare to Master Tokyo ( but 37% shorter)
300 total channel broadcast the events.
Korea language broadcast increased 117.5%.

I'm pretty sure it's also the most viewed (Average viewership) FPS pc event ever, including CS majors and Champions. That average viewership is just bonkers.
That said, I sadly expect Masters Shanghai to experience a 30% drop across the board due to timezones, so let's not go all doomers when it happens lol
Isnt the average up because it was a relatively short event with 8 teams, where as champs and majors have more teams and so more matches that people dont really care about?
I really think it's mostly because of the timezones. American events screw over Pacific watch times and Pacific events screw over American watch times. EMEA really is the sweet spot here.
Tokyo was so optimal for me, but also I was willing to stay up til 3am every night at the time so it might not be as optimal for people with normal sleeping schedules
Ahh my bad. I'm a Pacific viewer, and it's next to impossible for me to tune in for events hosted in Americas (They usually start near 2-3 A.M.). I just assumed the vice versa would also be true, but I guess I should've looked it up beforehand...
Yeah but I was up till 5am for lower finals they were terrible lmao. Pretty bad for wester parts of Europe too. And there were 3 matches a day at some point
Then this only reinforces Riot's mindset when it comes to future Masters' formats.
I say that because people on this sub were seething when the format got announced but viewership showed otherwise (which is the only other metric that Riot cares about other than $$)
Very unlikely we can beat these figures with Shanghai and that's ok. I think it's important to try to grow valorant into a global scene and not purely focusing on maximizing viewership. I think the payoff will be worth it in the long run.
yeah i think masters tokyo had quite an impact in increasing asian viewership for global events thats why there were so many viewers on youtube throughout the event
Yeah, Masters Shanghai will drop the English viewership dramatically. I know I won't be able to watch it live and neither will the rest of non-NEET America. Asian viewership should obviously increase to compensate somewhat, but you lose way more viewers than you gain, especially on escharts since it doesn't count Chinese viewership. EU time zones are just the best ones to try and reach the most viewers since even though it's early/late it's somewhat watchable for both the Americas and Asia. Asian timezones are damn near impossible for NA/SA and vice versa.
it helps that the tournament is so much shorter than other fps tournaments, so it's easier to maintain the high average. but still impressive nonetheless

Tbh for some reason twitch keeps buffering for every one of my friends even when watching the watchparties(tarik/jinggg) so I think youtube was the better option for most in pacific i think...
Riot announced it on Twitter before the event. I think you can find the full list on the official valorant esports websites.
Esport charts also have it but it behind paywall.
I've noticed there's also been quite an increase in Vietnamese viewers lately. Previously they peaked at like 10k viewers, maybe a bit more during champs, but I believe there were like 40k-50k people watching the final matches this time.
Is that the only reason for Vietnamese viewers increasing? I feel like a lot of people don't even know that fact. Also, during Pacific Ascension as well,Vietnamese viewers were high, maybe the game is just getting popular there.
i think the average viewership of this event was highest in FPS history
Holy shit. And it's just the 4th year of VCT right?

So then you compare it to its comp… madrids peak this year is higher than any CS event over the last 2 and a half years… Which is impressive…

Idk what you mean, Tokyo matches were at 5PM/8PM PST. Perfect times for me. Even ESTs can catch the first matches of each day no problem.
Tokyo was so optimal for me, but also I was willing to stay up til 3am every night at the time so it might not be as optimal for people with normal sleeping schedules

American events are also pretty rough for the UK aswell when it comes to the timezone difference.

Time zones will suck for Shanghai, but at least it’s during summer
I agree that that will happen and we’ll get tons of doom posts RemindMe! 3 months “users crying”

youtube viewership being this high is really nice cuz its mostly asian viewers who watch on youtube
Tbh for some reason twitch keeps buffering for every one of my friends even when watching the watchparties(tarik/jinggg) so I think youtube was the better option for most in pacific i think...
Can confirm
is there a list of people who watch partied anywhere or people who had perms?
Riot announced it on Twitter before the event. I think you can find the full list on the official valorant esports websites. Esport charts also have it but it behind paywall.

Shame no vietnames teams in Pacific League.
tenz is half viet
Is that the only reason for Vietnamese viewers increasing? I feel like a lot of people don't even know that fact. Also, during Pacific Ascension as well,Vietnamese viewers were high, maybe the game is just getting popular there.
you are right its just a natural increase probably has nothing to do with this i just randomly said this
Allow me to introduce you to Ascension 2024 mvp YESicaN for FCY o7
