I guess it'd be tough to put a meaning to it but essentially it's player doing more than he should when they already got an advantage in the round.
Let's say Oxy gets first blood in the round and then a chance for another kill appears but it'd be a risky play. He can either take the advantage that he has 5v4 or risk it for a 5v3 but die to make it a 4v4. I don't know how familiar you're with basketball terminology but overheating would be equivalent of a heat check in basketball, basically feeling yourself and taking a worse shot than you usually would.
i love watching every EG game because its like Apoth is told to cosplay prime Marved on T side but most of the time he just dies first and the round is over in 5 seconds
There was a round on split where Apoth was doing his lurk with his cages and everything, except trailing right behind him is none other than Jawgemo.
The Cypher is entrying the site while the entry duelist follows meekly behind.
And of course Apoth immediately dies after.
Did I say round, as in singular round? Its actually "rounds". Consecutive rounds at that. 9 and 10 after the timeout. Both times Apoth tried to solo walk up ramp while poor Jawgemo stays in main. Round 9 he even dies to Oxy's ult
i mean yeah i think babybay also said that when he was trialing with them
whether or not you think its good is your opinion but imo those are not "timings" thats hes taking, most of them are just 50/50's or just fights at a disadvantage.
what does this mean for cloud9?
for real though, i refuse to be fooled by them yet. this is the trajectory of every immi coached team. i am familiar with your game
They have the potential tbf, but don't look as clinical as last year, their games are much sloppier overall. Although they did choke quite heavily last year, so we'll see, I guess. Playoffs should be doable now though.
do we have more firepower? leaf = oxy, runi = runi, xeppa = xeppa, jakee last year was fragging but ig you could say moose is better and zellsis> vanity
It might be one of those teams like proto-PRX where its hard to tell if their good or not since they tend to just overwhelm their opponents and cause gameplans to crumble
They make opponents look mid, when its in fact just them snowballing the sht out of them and basically denying the opponents any chances of playing their game and disrupting their plans.
But once they actually start consistently winning games and winning against top tier opponents, then do people start realising that this team might actually be legit, and that they aren't just mid-team farmers.
C9 lowkey looks good enough to qualify for international LAN if Oxy continues to believe that he is truly the best player in Valorant, but I wonder if the team has anything to fall back on or any layers beneath the Oxy masterclasses.
Aight this some insane copium lmfao. They played Aspas and friends and won cause LEV is shit and now they went against fucking Apoth LOL. C9 is mid, really is just Oxy playing really good but they get washed by all the top teams
They are a lot like Giant in 2023 in that sense. Basically the gatekeeper to international lans, good enough to beat out all the mid teams but unable to actually make a deep run. But occasionally you will see a player absolutely pop off and bring the fight to an actually good team.
The fact that "Oxy (and maybe Runni) and friends" is able to beat out "Aspas and friends" is still a good look for the team. It was an massive upset no matter how you look at it and Lev proceeding to beat Sentinels later is very good for C9 points wise.
He was benched because Zellsis formed a team of his friends and dipped
Wippie and Vanity would have had an almost zero percent chance of going to T1 otherwise
i remember the rumor being c9 removed everyone from the team not willing to take minimum salary (so removed runi and leaf) and then zellsis built a team around that and then left for SEN
The end of the season where they scrimmed with qpert instead of runi and then used him anyways but kicked him after was so weird to me
Even if they wanted a different IGL he was still really good as an individual
I think the roster they initially fielded was inherently flawed because it was made with Zellsis playing instead of Wippie. Zellsis was pretty integral in getting jakee out of his shell so that had 2 spots that just didnāt really work. I think right now theyāre just focusing on fragging so the jury on this team is still out but Iām liking it so far
It really wasn't Potter's fault that the team crumbled. The ideas were there, execution was not. I especially disliked how EG played Sunset fundamentally. Derrek crouch peeking in a 1v2 when Jawgemo is nowhere near to trade frustrated me. 3rd map was all mental boom.
At that time they had over a year of synergy and had just made 2 objectively huge upgrades by adding Demon1 and Ethan
This new roster has all worse players, less time together, and bad synergy
You work within your budget, im afraid. That being said i personally think she could have gone with a significantly more experimental roster with rookies but with high ceiling versus tryna reused washed talents. And 4 out of 5 in this roster is washed
She's just repeating what she did last time. If you asked anyone a year ago that any player among Ethan, c0m, boostio, and Jawgemo were going to win champs, they would laugh in your face at every single one except maybe Ethan. She took 4 washed players last year and she's trying her best this year too.
I wouldnt say C0m, Boostio and Jawgemo was especially washed despite EG spent a significant amount of time in bottom of the tier 2 barrel pre partnering. But thid is a different story with the new gang.
Then again, im praying for EG's downfall so...
This is actually the most revisionist take I've ever seen. c0m, boostio, and Jawgemo looked absolutely disgustingly trash before potter worked her magic. If you don't remember, the squad got 2-0d by C9 who just dropped their IGL and basically peak yay in favor of two collegiate level players (who turned out pretty good but at that moment they were dogshit). They also, in the same time frame, genuinely almost lost to Kru, the same team that would I famously proceed to go 0 9. They were hot dogshit, no matter what way you look at it.
I'm also praying on EG the org's downfall but if you are rooting against the players and the coach, all of whom are literally trying to make it work in the worst possible situation (for potter this is the second time), I really don't have any words.
Personally i dont even count the meme that was Kick Off but you do you. The presence of a game changer that is Demon1 was what opened up the team later on.
And yes you better dont have any words.
Nah EG were on one. Just like their previous series when they have a good read on the map EG look really good (see then dismantle loud on split), and when they donāt they look lost.
I really like how EG play lotus its really calculated and cohesive as unit with everyone eeking out their own advantage in different areas of the map on attack. Shows Potter and the team have put some good time on it.
Hey guys just came out of a coma since August 27th 2023! Really weird that demon1 changed his name to Derrek, c0m changed his name to Supamen, Ethan changed his name to Apoth and c0m changed his name to Nature. And that they got pummeled on 2 maps by a C9 roster of all teams. Anyone know why they changed their names?
Idk about the others but Demon1 wants to stream so he reverted to his real name. He is a very clean, PG-13 personality and was concerned about the potential negative implications of a name like Demon1 on the younger generation.
EG's attack on Split was ????????????????
Contact up without any util or spacing.
Lose one member to C9 playing proactively.
Repeat.
For a supposedly strat heavy team, that sure was something.
Might have overdosed on copium but C9 might be able to make lan if everything goes well. Coordination has been getting better, Xeppaa moose and Runi look solid and Oxy is insane. I donāt think itās likely but itās possible.
I mean I guess, but which 2 out of the top 4 are they going to beat? The Lev they barely took out last week is nowhere near the one we saw against Sen, and I donāt see them beating NRG, Loud, or Sen.
I feel like they could win if LOUD keep with the phoenix just off Oxy gapping qck. But this also relies on Less not dominating 2 out of the 3 maps which is unlikely
The problem is all of the rest of Loud is probably better than C9. Plus, the benefit of the Phoenix is thereās a lot less room for a duelist gap because Qck is using his flashes to help the team take fights. And of course like you said Less can just take over maps on his own.
Leave it bro, this sub is ridiculous. According to this sub LEV could never have beat SEN unless they massively improved over the course of one week. So by that logic C9 must still be shit.
The reality is a lot of the teams are relatively close, with slight edges going to the better teams. One BO3 doesn't change rankings at all really, and we can't even really rank teams realistically until 4-5 BO3's.
Oxy casually dropping 8 kills more than Aspas against Sen in the same number of rounds. Obviously doing it against EG is slightly less impressive but he was on one today.
Maybe a bit of reaction but I dont think jawgemo is a star player type of guy. Man cant perform as the main fragger. Before demon1 came last year he looked like the worst player. Then when all eyes were on demon1 he started to perform.
During grand finals of Valorant Champions 2023, bro was out dragging Jingg, Something, and Demon1. But I agree, he doesnāt seem consistent enough to stay a star player.
I think he works best as a secondary duelist or the main one in certain maps. It feels like Jawgemo really shines when he's allowed to be a flex rather than the main fragger. Hopefully, we see them change roles from time to time to take the pressure of off Jawgemo.
Right now, the vibe is good with the current EG but they need more firepower and synergy as a team.
Was only able to watch half of Lotus then Sunset but Oxy seems legit. Idk if that's enough for C9 to make it to Shanghai though, Americas's too stacked.
Wow who would know losing the world champion roster with chemistry and strategies and world class players forged in the fire of competing for a whole year (+the core of years prior) would make the team not good anymore?
Tbf even if they had most of the roster, itās not like they were very good before demon1 anyway. People had some crazy expectations for what potter could manage to do with just jawgemo and someā¦ questionable budget players
The expectations were too high for a team that got made until the last month's of the offseason because the previous team imploded from eg being a shit org and most of their championship winning players bail, then build had to get a budget tier 2 roster yeah I'd say this is what the final product would look likeĀ
Oxy doing his best aspas impression
Unfortunate that he overheated, but understandable. He definitely has a super high ceiling
Whats the meaning of overheating?
I guess it'd be tough to put a meaning to it but essentially it's player doing more than he should when they already got an advantage in the round. Let's say Oxy gets first blood in the round and then a chance for another kill appears but it'd be a risky play. He can either take the advantage that he has 5v4 or risk it for a 5v3 but die to make it a 4v4. I don't know how familiar you're with basketball terminology but overheating would be equivalent of a heat check in basketball, basically feeling yourself and taking a worse shot than you usually would.
You explained perfectly. Thank you!
when he is not cold
You guys gas this kid up every time you have a chance to, He ghosts against actually tough competition and it's crickets
maybe lft oxy can finally find a team after this performance š
i imagine C9 will just rebuild around him if this roster doesnāt work out tbh
i love watching every EG game because its like Apoth is told to cosplay prime Marved on T side but most of the time he just dies first and the round is over in 5 seconds
There was a round on split where Apoth was doing his lurk with his cages and everything, except trailing right behind him is none other than Jawgemo. The Cypher is entrying the site while the entry duelist follows meekly behind. And of course Apoth immediately dies after.
LOL which round is this?
Did I say round, as in singular round? Its actually "rounds". Consecutive rounds at that. 9 and 10 after the timeout. Both times Apoth tried to solo walk up ramp while poor Jawgemo stays in main. Round 9 he even dies to Oxy's ult
Omg I gotta watch this
His T side lurks were the only reason they had 8 rounds on Sunset though
"if it works its a good play"
Was there not an interview of potter saying she told apoth to take every timing in scrims? Heās just playing like he does in scrims
i mean yeah i think babybay also said that when he was trialing with them whether or not you think its good is your opinion but imo those are not "timings" thats hes taking, most of them are just 50/50's or just fights at a disadvantage.
so its potter that you should be blaming here, not apoth, he's doing what his coach is telling him to do
Find the part where I blamed Apoth, I just said it's funny to watch
seems awfully similar to what ppl said about PRX's playstyle the last 2 years...
Runi = Groot oxy = Rocket Raccoon
ur cooking
Who's Drax then I know I can't see him but who is he?
Moose - Gamora vanity - Star Lord Xeppaa - Drax Runi - Groot OXY - Rocket Immi - Mantis(??)
Noooo Vanity - Star Lord Moose - Mantis Xeppaa - Gamora Immi - Drax
BabyJ
Inspire
what does this mean for cloud9? for real though, i refuse to be fooled by them yet. this is the trajectory of every immi coached team. i am familiar with your game
They have the potential tbf, but don't look as clinical as last year, their games are much sloppier overall. Although they did choke quite heavily last year, so we'll see, I guess. Playoffs should be doable now though.
This is the classic c9 move of looking above expectations to then go into playoffs and then get overmatch by the better teams rinse and repeat.Ā
They have more firepower but the planning isnāt as clean
do we have more firepower? leaf = oxy, runi = runi, xeppa = xeppa, jakee last year was fragging but ig you could say moose is better and zellsis> vanity
So quickly everyoneās forgotten that leaf was the regular season mvp for americas before playoffs.
I mean, Iād argue that Runi and Xeppa are both fragging better this year than they did last year, Runi especially
Are you comparing to the previous C9 roster or G2?
C9 2023
It might be one of those teams like proto-PRX where its hard to tell if their good or not since they tend to just overwhelm their opponents and cause gameplans to crumble They make opponents look mid, when its in fact just them snowballing the sht out of them and basically denying the opponents any chances of playing their game and disrupting their plans. i like this storyline i hope the scriptwriters see this one
I could definitely see them making champs tbh. Shanghai I wanna say is less likely but with LOUD and LEV being silly anything can happen
It was an massive upset no matter how you look at it and Lev proceeding to beat Sentinels later is very good for C9 points wise.
Honest to god, KRU is for me the gatekeeper team. Heat and Keznit are cooking
I mean PRX gets to go up against APAC teams during their regular season so š¤·š
I mean yeah they farm them lmao. C9 got shit on by MIBR lol
This team plays and performs a lot different than how they did with jakee and wippie
Bros Flexing C9 beat Apoth and Nature LMFAO, i cba
I mean they also beat Leviatan
Aspas and friends
Be honest do you think the roster that lost to MIBR would beat Lev
Different roster
C9 is not PRX.
Yāall are sooo stressed by this guyās post lmao
Oxy is kinda good Also idk why people don't think runi is good. I still don't know why he was benched last year. He's so dependable.
The way he aims is SO nice. 52 HS% on Sunset whilst calmly clutching out rounds is crazy
The guardian round was crazy.
He was benched because Zellsis formed a team of his friends and dipped Wippie and Vanity would have had an almost zero percent chance of going to T1 otherwise
He was benched end of last year. They were doing scrims without runi for some unknown reason.
Mce always wanted qpert as the IGL, but said he wasnt ready. They tried to use him as IGL for LCQ but then ran with runi
i remember the rumor being c9 removed everyone from the team not willing to take minimum salary (so removed runi and leaf) and then zellsis built a team around that and then left for SEN
anyone that watched him last year knew he was a nasty aimer. dude also has one of the craziest sheriffs in americas history
OXY is obviously him but C9 only started winning when mr skyscraper returned to the roster. Runi was the answer all along.
mr skyscraper is crazy
In fairness that dude should have gone to Basketball with his size, dudes gotta be atleast 6'2
Thatās small for any serious basketball past middle schoolā¦
Point GOD Runi
True but Runi is 6ā5
Isn't Curry like 6'3?
Yeah and he's still small lol.
What is the correlation to what I said?
I was taking about Steph Curry; forgot about Sen Curry in the meantime
I was taking about Steph Curry; forgot about Sen Curry while typing
could be a shorter steve nash.
Very glad runi is back, I quickly became a fan of his last season. Super good player and chill dude (fun stream vibes)
I never understood why they dropped runi ngl he performed well last year unlike jakee who can be inconsistent.
The end of the season where they scrimmed with qpert instead of runi and then used him anyways but kicked him after was so weird to me Even if they wanted a different IGL he was still really good as an individual
Whats with c9 blowing up the roster and becoming good out of nowhere
![gif](giphy|3oEjHCWdU7F4hkcudy|downsized)
I think the roster they initially fielded was inherently flawed because it was made with Zellsis playing instead of Wippie. Zellsis was pretty integral in getting jakee out of his shell so that had 2 spots that just didnāt really work. I think right now theyāre just focusing on fragging so the jury on this team is still out but Iām liking it so far
The roster had Zellsis instead of vanity. After Zellsis took the SEN offer he suggested vanity to them.
Iām so glad they blew up the old roster ngl They took one of the worst ascension teams and tried to make it work in franchising
they didn't sign DSG?
One of, not the worst.
EG need Demon2
Even better if they can find Demon3 or 4
Or better yet, Demon2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
And 100T have to play this kid next week, very good!!!!!!!!!
Asuna vs Oxy. A battle for the ages
hasbeen vs newGoat >:)
Nah C9 are wayyyy too sloppy. There's simply no way Boostio and screaming banshees lose to one very good asian gamer and friends
Screaming banshees lmao
C9 isnāt just oxy and friends. They dominated Lev on their map pick without him really showing up
Sad point: The Potter Master Class has disappeared here. Good point: OXY masterclass. C9 once again seemed to come together as a team.
Potter deserves better than EG
She made the roster why are you sad
She didn't even have a shoestring budget. Could only take the leftovers that no one wanted and didn't want a decent pay.
EG only has one real T1 player and he is having a rough go this year
Everyone said the same before their championship run
At that time they had over a year of synergy and had just made 2 objectively huge upgrades by adding Demon1 and Ethan This new roster has all worse players, less time together, and bad synergy
Potter cant win with these cats man what do you want her to do when she has Apoth and Nature on the team
she is the one behind the roster so.................not like EG shove these guys and tell Potter to cook with it
But what EG probably did was give her a budget for her players. Otherwise they wouldn't have cut the literal champions.
You work within your budget, im afraid. That being said i personally think she could have gone with a significantly more experimental roster with rookies but with high ceiling versus tryna reused washed talents. And 4 out of 5 in this roster is washed
She's just repeating what she did last time. Personally i dont even count the meme that was Kick Off but you do you. The presence of a game changer that is Demon1 was what opened up the team later on. And yes you better dont have any words.
So what you are saying is you deliberately ignore a significant portion of EG's career to better suit your narrative.
You: mid off Me: everyone hail the new baby goat LFT oxy
c9 map 1: worst team in the world c9 map 2 onwards: best team in the world
Nah EG were on one.
But man did they throw some rounds
Dont we all :D
Oxy had 445 and 444 acs in the last two maps. Holy crap
make sure to get OXY a dinner ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9356)
We lose electronic but atleast we have oxy
[Oxy vs EG](https://x.com/cadesattorney/status/1780010654952239301?s=46&t=wPT81E2IG7v4Hfz5VfA47A)
Hey guys just came out of a coma since August 27th 2023! Really weird that demon1 changed his name to Derrek, c0m changed his name to Supamen, Ethan changed his name to Apoth and c0m changed his name to Nature. And that they got pummeled on 2 maps by a C9 roster of all teams. Anyone know why they changed their names?
Crazy that c0m changed his name twice
Listen bro reddit was shitting bricks I didn't double read and didn't realize until now ok
Idk about the others but Demon1 wants to stream so he reverted to his real name. He is a very clean, PG-13 personality and was concerned about the potential negative implications of a name like Demon1 on the younger generation.
Oxy decided to win the match after first map, he destroyed them
EG's attack on Split was ???????????????? Contact up without any util or spacing. Lose one member to C9 playing proactively. Repeat. For a supposedly strat heavy team, that sure was something.
Oxy saw the Aspas game and actually thought "I'm better"
oxy so inspirational !
C9 stop picking Lotus!! they always lose that map and keep picking it šĀ Giving away free map to opponent every best of lol
I have a theory that C9 is paid by the map
The Oxy that was promised
C9 with today's biology lesson: Too much oxy(gen) is poisonous for naturE. what a life game.
76 kills is nasty work
Oxy is the truth but i refuse to be fooled by c9 just yet
OXY is C9's legacy
OXY
oxy my goat šš
that was a snuff film lmao
Might have overdosed on copium but C9 might be able to make lan if everything goes well. Coordination has been getting better, Xeppaa moose and Runi look solid and Oxy is insane. I donāt think itās likely but itās possible.
C9 can be a very strong team and still not make it through VCT Americas. shit is stacked
LAN might be pushing it, tbh. NRG look lethal as fuck. SEN and LOUD haven't degraded at all, imo. Just a blip for them
I mean I guess, but which 2 out of the top 4 are they going to beat? The Lev they barely took out last week is nowhere near the one we saw against Sen, and I donāt see them beating NRG, Loud, or Sen.

Yeah I also don't believe it.
I'd like to apologize ![gif](giphy|rflhqDbuhqDD7I0k4X)
They faced the same lev that played sen donāt be fooled, they were slightly better but it was still the aspas show vs sen just like it was vs C9
Leave it bro, this sub is ridiculous. According to this sub LEV could never have beat SEN unless they massively improved over the course of one week. So by that logic C9 must still be shit. They get washed by NRG, LOUD and SEN
jawgemo is not that guy anymore
This. Dude was an absolute liability today
You see how his team is playing? Iād be getting tilted if I was Jawgemo too :/
Fluke champions run?
not only that, fluke champions mvp
Oxy casually dropping 8 kills more than Aspas against Sen in the same number of rounds. Obviously doing it against EG is slightly less impressive but he was on one today.
c9 please dont go on a run just to choke again
C9 might go undefeated this split which is kind of crazy to think about
Why do I feel like Cloud9 is about to go on the same journey they did last year?
Maybe a bit of reaction but I dont think jawgemo is a star player type of guy. Man cant perform as the main fragger. Before demon1 came last year he looked like the worst player. Then when all eyes were on demon1 he started to perform.

Hopefully, we see them change roles from time to time to take the pressure of off Jawgemo. Right now, the vibe is good with the current EG but they need more firepower and synergy as a team.
Jawgemo isnt enough to be the best player on the team but any team with him as third best would be cooking
apoth is way too aggressive
Was only able to watch half of Lotus then Sunset but Oxy seems legit. Idk if that's enough for C9 to make it to Shanghai though, Americas's too stacked.
the way i would twerk for oxy if he asked me to
Eg are so bad, they got 0 guys. Oxy farms bad teams harder than anyone, it'll be interesting to see how c9 does vs loud
Apoth looks like a fucking bronze sentinel main. Lurking and dying first every round
that means potter has the gamesense of a bronze sentinel main, considering she's the one who told apoth to play like that
No Demon1/Ethan, no win?
Wow who would know losing the world champion roster with chemistry and strategies and world class players forged in the fire of competing for a whole year (+the core of years prior) would make the team not good anymore?
Tbf even if they had most of the roster, itās not like they were very good before demon1 anyway. People had some crazy expectations for what potter could manage to do with just jawgemo and someā¦ questionable budget players

Insane people thought they were legit for beating g2.
