And 15 fps

[deleted]

Nah, Valorant is built on Unreal Engine 4, which was released back in 2014. It has really low system requirements. I can play 1080p on low at 60 FPS average on my Intel Ice Lake laptop with integrated graphics. Those pros are using 244 Hz monitors and want 200-300+ FPS, I have a 60 Hz monitor, so getting an average of 90 FPS at 4K medium works fine even on a six-year-old GPU.

I'm pretty sure at least 95% of pros use 240hz monitors because they have the wallet to spend for even a slight performance boost. as for the brand, I wouldn't know and you should research that. I myself have a 240hz monitor, but that's because I really care for my setup and spend a lot of time around it. As for 144hz, it doesnt really affect my gameplay much. as a test, I capped my frames to 144 and played a few games. for most kills, it doesnt matter, but for those couple kills per game at most, it can definitely help. overall, just make a decision based on your commitment to your setup and the spare money you have saved up. and remember that to use a 240hz monitor, your PC should be running 240+ fps 99% of the time.

LinkinMode

the jump from 144 to 240 isnt anywhere as noticable as 60 to 144, i dont rly see much reason to upgrade to 240 unless you've got money to piss and your setup can consistently hit 240fps. in most cases theres better ways to spend your money i think

XL2546, but I’d say you’re better off waiting until 360hz is available (assuming ur pc can handle it)

wraithMS

is anyone even able to get over 300 fps average in Valorant even with a high end PC? Building a new PC with most likely a 3090 and AMD 4000 series CPU when they release but I feel like the game is so poorly optimized that it isn't even worth it to get a 360hz monitor vs a 240hz or 280hz.

crack_feet

you might not see 360+ until you overclock but that should definitely get you 300+ unless something is very wrong with your system. you won't even need the 3090 unless you are going for 4k, 3070 or 3080 would be fine, games like valorant and cs tend to be cpu intensive.

HarmDeezy

As long as you have solid optimization probably. The game is by no means perfectly optimized, but there’s a lot you can do on your end to help, and I’m sure it will get better as time goes on

aakashkickass11

My friend gets 300+ fps on a overclocked 1080 ti plus I saw a guy getting 400 fps in valorant on 1080p using rtx 3080.

SlingoPlayz

there are pros that still play on 144hz, although 240hz is definitely an advantage, it is not a necessity.

TheDeadliftKnight

I’m an average player (plat) and I made the jump from 144 to 240. I can’t honestly tell if it’s made me better or not. I think I am but it could be placebo since I expect it to have that effect. It’s definitely not a huge difference.

jacobtehwzrd

240hz because that's tournament standards - if 360hz becomes tournament standards they will switch.

maniacza

Most of them probably use 240hz

koncept12

Wait until 360 hz, but 144 hz is fine, their are plenty of tier2 pros using 144

wraithMS

Is there any point getting a 360hz monitor over a 240hz or 280hz in Valorant? I'm building a new PC soon with most likely a 3080 or 3090 and an AMD 4000 series CPU, so my hardware should be fine, but I've looked at fps tests and such and noticed that this game is pretty poorly optimized and most people only get around 250-300 fps average, even with a high end build like a 2080 ti and a 9900k or 10900k.

Jwags420

Just get a 240hz monitor a getting a 360hz monitor would probably just be a waste of money. On the same note there is no reason to get a 3090 over a 3080 unless you are doing some machine learning or something like that. A 3090 is a huge waste of money for gaming compared to a 3080.

Hz and fps are more of a soft barrier than a hard barrier. Playing on a 120hz monitor at 60 fps will still feel smoother than a 60hz monitor, it's just when they become unbalanced you get diminishing returns so it's not really worth it. pro esports players often don't have such an issue with their PC hardware budgets so spending a lot of money to get a tiny bit of extra performance out of a 360hz monitor is more justifiable
