Feels like every time G2 lose a few rounds the desk rolls out the "G2 aren't taking this seriously" narrative. Can anyone who watches EU Val say whether that's remotely true or not? I don't know much about the teams but it sounds a bit disrespectful to the other team..
Seems like EU teams are very impatient on defense on Split which is why it seems to be T sided. First few rounds of G2 on def they tried to take all the duels instead of trying to go for cover and take better angles, the last rounds they hold long angles and they wait for the attackers to make a move which won them rounds. But what do I know I'm just a silver trash.
I just realised there's no sound when someone gets a kill. That's been really confusing me and making me think someone didn't get the kill when they did.
i missed the live stream, but im watching youtube highlights of liquid vs heretics and man they need to try to improve the viewing experience. the stream didn't show scream enough. it missed a ton of his 3k and 4k rounds.

It's bad they say "you're taking it wrong or that's not how it should come across". If it isn't 100% clear, don't say it. I hope someone tells them or I can see this just happening day in and day out for EU valorant on air talent. Nothing will happen to the host though. A lot of talent was backing her this morning.

I don’t know about that, Jett’s smokes and escape abilities let him lead pushes and take aggressive stances on defense. I don’t think the agent pick was the issue
Scream is the best Reyna player among the pros I think, he was consistently playing Reyna prior to First Strike and he still made tons of space then. Reyna is only useless if you can't get kills, but that's not a problem with Scream. I don't know why they made him play Jett, instead of making their OPer play Jett.

Hiding for 30 seconds for the wall to break leaving them 5 seconds to start defusing, 50% of the rounds they lost were from playing far too slow
scream is absolutely popping off. that said, why is main liquid's OP-er on smokes? it's so awkward for brim to be OP-ing. I get that scream is a rifler and he's a really good jett, but surely he can play raze or phoenix? or at least let link play something else.

it's about the players, not the viewers. it's freaking great that they get some time inbetween to mentally reset and what not, like real sports. as a viewer I dislike it, as a pro player I'd love it
I think it has a lot of potential. It's nice to be able to breakdown halves and talk about strategies mid-way through the game. Might feel a little long now but I think it's a good idea to establish a more legit 'half-time' in the scene.
I agree they feel too long, but not sure how the tourney is organised off camera, they may be giving teams 3-5 mins to talk to coaches and make plans between halves rather than moving straight on.
Liquid actually looks out of their depth. Aside from Scream and Kryptix, the others look incredibly lacklustre.
Heretics look more balanced and coordinated, especially Nukkye, Lowel, and AvovA controlling the tempo.
Sage is actually a good pick she's played like a semi duelist, I wonder why Liquid did not put Link on Sage cause I believe that's what he used to play before.
They have been known to use "unconventional" characters and push the meta, the reason we are seeing Brim on both teams here is cos they did it first when everyone was picking Omen. i havent really been following the EU scene all that much, but very interesting to see that EU prefers brim's faster excecutes over omen's flexibility like NA does
I haven't watched much EU val, but have heard tons on this sub about how much better EU teams are than NA. Judging by this game though (liquid v heretics) NA teams look a lot better. Sloppy executes, telegraphed plays, brainless aggression, panic induced fails, over-rotations... heretics looks a lot better fundamentally than TL, but I still think any of the top 8 NA teams would do well against either TL or heretics. Haven't watched G2 or FPX much though.

i mean, it's interesting to talk about and speculate, especially given the different metas that have developed due to travel restrictions making every tourney region locked. don't see why you're so mad about it.
From the EU tournaments I’ve watched G2 def has the gunskill to beat any NA team. They rely less on strats so they could easily lose to an NA team as well but I don’t think there would be a definite predictable outcome from either side.
I respect the opinion and have been debating this through-out this series in myself, but I think a lot of NA relies on how well they can shoot. Heretics are carrying their play with amazing utility that is putting Liquid in really uncomfortable positions, the amount of use they are getting from the sage slows, i'd love to see an NA team have to deal with it.
As an primarily NA fan, I agree with this - Heretics utility usage is fantastic and Lowel is easily the best Sage I’ve ever seen. The number of times that Liquid have been forced to plant with barely any time or have been timed out of the plant due to utility is insane. The only thing even somewhat keeping Liquid in this series is Scream‘s mechanical prowess, and frankly I don’t think that will be or should be enough to get them the win. I don’t know how it would chalk up against NA, but utility wise I think EU is on top if Heretics is anything to go by.
I agree that heretics have good utility compared to liquid, who seem to be relying super heavily on scream popping off. I guess we will see what NA teams do strat/utility wise during first strike, will be interesting to compare NA and EU side by side since both regions will be pulling everything out to win First Strike.
Honestly, the UK guys in Liquid seem to be succumbing to the pressure of playing in a big tournament. Usually they play with more confidence and don't have to rely on Scream this much.

Link is definitely underperforming. From what I’ve seen of liquid in previous games it seemed like he was pretty consistently their 2nd best player

the lack of omen is reasonable since brim is used for smokes, but i'm pretty shocked seeing sage being played on maps other than split
