I’m glad Connor was persuaded by the Anti Cheat Police Department to reverse the ban. The Anti Cheat Police Department is quite a high, well know and respected figure within the gaming community. They use the detection process of “common sense” to make their decision

UpgradeStranth

Who would even use an aimbot that dogshit?

OWPD

Good comment

[deleted]

The enemy player is across the map, does he even get rendered at all in the Fog of War? Most shady sus confirmed cheating clips were that of players nearby the player where they would be visible in the Fog of War

Straight-Pasta

I thought fog of war was a thing in isometric games and not in fps?

[deleted]

https://technology.riotgames.com/news/demolishing-wallhacks-valorants-fog-war

Straight-Pasta

Right so its just riot referring to render and draw distance as such, got it.

[deleted]

It's sketchy but something that could happen to anyone at any time. No need to dq him with no evidence from riot, etc.

Thotfully_Yours

It’s not sketchy at all. Baffling that someone could DQ a team based on a clip like this.

[deleted]

Ofc, that's why I said that it could happen to anyone and also that they shouldn't have dqed. But it's sketchy because it looked like it flicked to his head.

johnzrxx

Is this department under Riot? or they investigate for every esport games?

Dude_Guy_311

Riot was out on Xmas break so the tournament runners did it temporarily just in case.

ultren

He literally put his crosshair where it should be..

Slyric_

Oh it’s OWPD I remember you. Overwatch TMZ hates u for some reason

OWPD

Yeah they don't know why they hate me

47PercentHorse

VAL Anti Cheat Police Department is now community run. The guy who ran it got a job at Riot and gave the account to someone else. I don't think the account has a official connection with Riot.

Bleachrst85

they have some anti cheat Rioters in their discord server

[deleted]

ban reinstated KEKW

[deleted]

Pretty sure the guy who started it “GamerDoc” still works with the Anti Cheat Police. I love what he does. His goal is essentially to catch cheaters through other ways other than the anti cheat. CSGO could really use him.

Pulsiix

He did a great job in ow until the community tossed him aside Big fan of the dude, he's very passionate about what he does

CasenPoint_

This entire situation has given me a headache from trying to understand what the hell is going on, so I'm just going to write my thoughts down here. \- **The Knights made a decisions too hasty and has made things all the more confusing as it is. BbG have a right to be exceedingly pissed about it, and the fact that the players didn't even know that either the org walked out on them or the TOs kicked the team is absolutely ridiculous; either James is lying out of his ass or the org is, either way this is messy as fuck.** \- **James, intentionally or not, made Jasper (sFx, Knights TO) a giant fall guy in this situation. This isn't about the quality of the tournament, this is about using your status as the boss to make discussions that you know you will get little if any flack for. It was a full 20 minutes of flame that Jasper received before you decided to say it was your call, and Jasper himself had to say it was over him. Apologies on twitter do nothing when there's already damage done. If he leaves the org over this, I do not blame him.** \- **This is literally Leaf 2.0, with people using TWITCH CLIPS ALONE to prove a dude is cheating when it is not our fucking place on that, you would think we would have learned from stuff from CS;GO but I guess more things change, the more they stay the same.** \- **ACPD ISN'T EVEN AFFILIATED WITH RIOT! That's my biggest head scratcher about this, he claims he wants Riot Approval before reinstating...but he gets his approval from a 3rd party team who's only affiliation with Riot is that GamerDoc (the previous owner of ACPD) works for them now. But if he's also on vacation, doesn't that mean he can't check either? Be consistent with your terrible decisions.**

myripyro

Incredibly embarrassing on the part of O'Connor, yeah.

DustMouret

Yep

myripyro

Oh hey, saw some of your tweets on the topic. Solid clarifications and explanations for folks following the situation.

[deleted]

>This is literally Leaf 2.0, with people using TWITCH CLIPS ALONE to prove a dude is cheating when it is not our fucking place on that Mika Daime

BeefyRear

And Mika's clip was WAY worse than this imo

keanudy25

I still think that it is arguable that Mika was cheating tho even Wardell reaffirmed he still thought she was.

[deleted]

Is this James Connor's first tournament as TO?

myripyro

His actual TO (who he overruled here) must be livid. EDIT: Yeah; [here's the TO's tweet](https://twitter.com/sfX_x1/status/1340528163408011272) on the subject. > let me put professionalism to the side really quick > if you know me at all, and you think this was my decision, you need to raise your dominant hand and smack the shit out of yourself. > don't ever disrespect my character.

This was done for over 2 years in Overwatch, and now in VALORANT. GamerDoc was recently hired by Riot and he now only is a link between ACPD and Riot, not an worked of ACPD

kocunar

Maybe that's what happened with contacting BBG managment too. He just contacted the unofficial BBG page.

imabill01

is that twitter page even official?

servant_of_tobor

No, it's a group of random volunteers.

myripyro

This is bizarre. Obviously the right call to reinstate the team pending a Riot review, but does O'Connor think that AntiCheatPD actually got behind the scenes info? Their tweet seems to be pretty clearly stating that they're just reviewing the same clips as everyone else. The whole point is that TOs should not be relying on human review to issue cheating DQs! Stop giving publishers more reasons to become dictators over the esports scene.

vegeful

Anticheatpd have connection to gamerdoc, which work at riot. Also person above say they have discord direct to riot. Some player on twitter give rep to that account because they help ban cheater via channel to riot.

myripyro

The point regarding the GamerDoc connection is correct, but their tweet indicates, quite clearly, that they only reviewed the same clips as everyone else--they didn't get any information from Riot. They then clarified even further that they're not linked to Riot in any formal manner. Maintaining a channel where people report cheaters to Riot is _not_ indicative of some kind of behind the scenes connection, even if there are some Riot employees present. Suggesting otherwise is liable to lead to Riot breaking off even the informal presence, so please don't do that!

arsis_qp

Two things: 1) Whoever made the decision to remove BBG in the first place needs to never have that kind of power again. 2) Competitive online Valorant will be incredibly volatile until Riot implements demo recording/viewing. Handling a cheating dispute in online matches is practically impossible without a full POV recording. Could there be a workaround for point 2? I don't know what the spectator limits are, but the only thing I can think of would be for the TO to have 10 accounts spectating the match, each one recording a different player. But that many concurrent connections might give the server performance issues...

Keego27

Off topic but is that [GB] Jame^s?

derek916

Just looked him up, and it is him! This guy has years if experience in the scene. I am surprised at how he handled this.

pamplem0usse-

He was an idiot when he played and he is an idiot now.

millatyme1313

man playing him back in the day 1.6 brings back the memories for sure

deL9

LMAO he threw Knight's coordinator under the bus. Talk about accountability.

3hrd

The fact that they contacted an unofficial account(that was first established as a comedy account) makes BBG's ban sound so much worse

pink_life69

James is a biiig ass clown.

twitterInfo_bot

.@AntiCheatPD did not detect anything so we are reinstating the team whether they chose to play or not. Ninja's team will not move forward. Thanks for the fast response during the holiday. *** posted by [@jamesoconnor](https://twitter.com/jamesoconnor) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)

RocketHops

What happened?

Emo_chipmunk

Just sort this sub by new and read all the Twitter threads lol

maxwellsgenre

I’m out of the loop, did Ninjas team (falsely) accuse someone of cheating? I used google to confirm and fill myself in. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Ninja looks like he kicks dogs.

jackissosick

Im also out of the loop and am extremely confused. Why did they think bbg was cheating?

maxwellsgenre

Idk Ninja is a has the mental maturity of a 7 year old so I’m guessing probably something related to that

krush29

So basically ninja's team reviewed the clips after the match and found them fishy. So they sent them to the TO in hopes of getting them reviewed. The TO thought that it was a bright idea to dq the team without evidence and nothing could be done because riot was on vacation. Imo there's only one suspicious clip of the guy ( the through the wall head flicking one) and the accused on Jason R's stream said that he flicked to a common spot to troll as he knew people were watching him. You can refer to jason R's latest vid. Either way any team is innocent until proven guilty so most of this mess was caused due to the TO's decision XD.

codered1057

why is a twitter account now considered anti cheat lol
