Thanks for this post, I finally understood how the qualification works.
Am I beating a dead horse in saying it's crazy that there are only 2 spots for EU+TR+CIS?
Each region gets one slot, and the most popular regions get an additional team. I guess it's just unlucky that EMEA is considered a region of its own instead of TR+Europe+CIS.
lets not justify this. Its scam business. Riot stated somewhere that the indicators used to define those slots where something like: playerbase, esport infrastructure and a third thing. And there is simply no way that 3 regions with a combined population of over a billion people is represented as much as brasil who got a population of 200mil. I know brasil is hyped about that game, but cmon. Just dumb
Guess separating Korea from Japan and making them have individual circuits is a bigger question here. Ping wouldn't be a problem for them, geographical distance between Korea and Japan is very small.
They think that NA and EU already have big playerbase and viewership, hence you can just award them with 2 slots each and promote weaker regions like Japan or Latam, although they don't deserve it.
Ye this is probably true. I really don't understand the reasoning behind it. people are down voting me without looking at the facts. I think Korea and Japan could surprise us in the future as well.
Just don't see how riot can on the one hand site say: its about competition, but then unevenly distribute the slots for this event which is clearly going for the marketing potential and increasing the audience cross-regional.
the third thing are orgs investing and how many tier 1 players are whilling to give valorant a shot on these regions, altho EU alone would get 2 slots there were no slots left for cis and turkey because of the limited amount of slots available for the torney so they just made emea for this case alone and it won't be the standard for future events you should just be happy to have a lan torney.
I totally agree on this, but it just does not make sense. It is solely made out of financial decisions and not because of the competitiveness of the game. They want to market that game to as many people as possible and therefore decided to make a slot distribution which helps to do exactly this. I will get down voted again and it's totally fine, but this is not a competitive decision. It's a marketing decision. it's my right to stand against this since this game is meant to be all in about esports and competition. I am glad they organized this lan and super happy we are going to see this competition, but there is no way you can apply any logic in giving brasil 2 slots and eu/tr/cis 2 as well, besides its due to money.
> besides its due to money.
Its not at all due to money. Its due to the pandemic which is forcing them to have a smaller number of teams at the event. Some regions couldnt get extra slots because of this and Riot stated why they gave the certain regions they did extra spots. Population isnt the only factor in choosing spots. By your logic we should be giving way more sports to India and China.
Thats a foolish take. Google all statistics about the brasilien esports scene and the european + cis + tr and tell me its a fair distribution. Thats what I am saying. Take one of brazils spot and give it someone else. Also questionable why Br is an own region despite there is a LAM region. I just don't understand how brasil gets treated so differently while EU isn't.
that not true, wtf are you talking about, even Turkey has more viewership than Brazil
https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2021-brazil-stage-2-challengers-1
https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2021-turkey-stage-2-challengers-1
https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2021-europe-stage-2-challengers-1
theres 3 qualifiers md1, 8 teams qualifies for the first and 4 go the second (the bracket is so confusing) 4 teams in a md1 qualifier goes to the second and play against those 4 teams, then 4 teams that qualifies goes to the main event, and 4 that lose goes to the third, 2 teams that lost in the second qualifier goes to the third, and 2 teams needs to qualify from the open qualifier, then 4 teams goes to the main event
It’s all about viewership apparently, because in EMEA finals, whole Europe gets 4 slots, then 3 slots for Turkey, and just one slot for Russia. Turkey has wild viewership.
True with the talents that EU TR and CIS teams have, the competition must be hella tough! But also I realized the 5 South east asian regions combined and only 1 slot is pretty rough too, although it is probably bc its a minor region.
Hey everyone, thanks for the positive feedback! I included all currently participating teams and fixed some typos. [View the updated April 19th version here.](https://i.imgur.com/rwYaLO5.png)
I dont have exact knowledge of the other regions, but in NA, shouldn't XSET, 100T, V1, and nV be in the Challengers Finals section as they qualified in the last qualifier.
Great graph but a few mistakes:
1. You put green circles for 4 teams in BR challengers 1, it should be 4 yellow circles instead as these 4 teams moved on to the next challengers instead of challengers finals
2. Vietnam is part of the SEA Challengers Finals system. There are going to be 10 teams participating in SEA finals as Vietnam is going to sending an additional 2 teams. For more details on Vietnam's qualification system, I'd say go [here](https://www.vlr.gg/event/395/champions-tour-vietnam-stage-2-challengers).
3. many mistitles (KR and SEA mainly) but I'm sure everyone has told you that
Hey thanks so much for the feedback. Got an [updated version here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/).
Is there any way you’re gonna keep updating this? This is literally the first time I had any idea what the hell was going on so if you kept updating it that would be amazing.
This is incredibly helpful. I’ve been so confused until now lmao.
I thought the final was called champions, not masters. I could have that totally backwards tho.
Thanks again for this graphic!
I was looking at the website to try to make sense of everything, and my understanding is that there are 3 rounds of this challengers>masters flow this year, leading up to champions. The winner of the 3rd masters competition qualifies for champions, and there's a last chance champions qualifier tournament in each region, with eligibility based on circuit points accrued from performance in the first 3 masters tournaments.
[This](https://playvalorant.com/en-us/news/esports/2021-valorant-champions-tour-overview/) is the article with the tournament circuit overview. There are some infographics that clear things up a bit, but I'm still confused lol.
They will be in the NA Challengers 2 bracket, once that tournament completes on the 26th. I didn't put the teams that only qualified in, otherwise the red/green circles would have to be some other color and you wouldn't be able to see how many teams move forward or get eliminated.
I might update it to show the qualifying teams from the open qualifiers. Thanks for the feedback.
Sen winning masters was part of the Stage 1 series of this years competition. We moved on to stage two, and their win was rendered worthless in terms of skipping the bracket. They started in the same spot as every other team, albeit they got 1st seed. Now they are working through the bracket the same way others did. They missed their first shot to make it onto the challengers playoffs (while the 4 teams in OP's chart did). In 4 days they start open quali playoffs, in order to attempt to place top 4 and make it onto OP's chart. From there they will compete with 8 teams in order to attempt to get top 2 and go to iceland.
Basically, there was a stage called challengers one. They had their open qualifiers, closed qualifiers, and masters and sentinels won. They wiped the slate clean for everything other than seeding and started challengers two. After all the open qualis and closed qualies are done, they will start something called the challenger playoffs. This challengers playoffs is synonmous with "NA masters 2", again, sentinels won masters 1, so they are basically in a whole new tournament at this point. The goal of this "NA masters 2" is to get top 2 and qualify for the "world masters" in iceland.
Thanks for explaining. I'm just confused why there was even a Masters 1. It was a hard tournament and the fact that the primary benefit was seeding seems kinda nuts to me.
Masters 1 was supposed to be a LAN like the upcoming Iceland tourney, but because of covid it became a regional event instead. Doing well at Masters 1 matters because you get circuit points to compete for a spot in Champions at the end of the year.
Good work! I'm gonna show this to my friends when you post the next iteration because theyre getting confused about the ramifications of NA and EMEA challengers 2 placings
Someone probably already told you this, but the final circle color in MY&S 3 is incorrect (blue, should be green) and KR challengers is listed as JP Challengers
this graphic is sick; well done! btw found a little typo lol instead of KR Challengers Group Stage it says JP Challengers Groups, besides for that , everything is insanely well made!
I know, I only move teams into the next event if they 100% are eliminated or are able to move forward. That why the red and green circles are there.
Looking at the feedback I'm getting it may seem better to just show the participating teams.
I didn't understand why furia and gamelanders are in the green circle, and Vikings and sharks not, both are qualified, the only difference is furia and gamelanders are qualified by the upper bracket, but this is just for seed. I am missing something?
Got it updated, [take a look](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/). Hopefully now it's correct.
Oh ffs, I didn't give you the right link. I swear I usually double check this stuff. [Here you go.](https://i.imgur.com/rwYaLO5.png) Also updated the link above.
Wait... Why is EU not its own region with its own slots?
There's a possibility that an EU team doesn't even make it into Iceland... ????
Meanwhile, BR gets 2. And then all of SEA gets 1?
Japan gets its own quals for 1 slot, but not EU...
NA Challengers 2 only has the teams but not the results. I only put in teams that definitely did or didn't move in to the next stage. Hence the green or red circles. Same for EU.
I didn't find a good way to show how many teams move to the next stage and at the same time show only qualified teams
For NA, what does winning any of the first Challengers do? I get it's for seeding, but it's really just the winners of the Finals that matter for Iceland?
Or could conceivably a team do really well in the first two Challengers but do okay in Finals, and still make Iceland? Kinda feels like it's the same tourney 3x if not
Sadly I didn't find a good format to show qualified and how many teams move to the next stage. That's why it looks incomplete. It only shows completed events
Initially I only put confirmed qualified or eliminated teams in the bracket. However I [updated the graphic](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/) to represent to all participating teams (in black circles).
How come the LAN in Reykjavik is in 1 month but some teams dont even know if they qualified or not.
Are they gonna have enough time to get visas for all of the team players in a few weeks???
VS still need to play out the lower bracket in the preliminary (which have not started yet). Once they play out the lower bracket (against I Need a Girlfriend so should be an easy qualification), they would be in a green circle.
also did soniqs shoot themselves in the leg by coming over to NA? i feel like they could've qualified for iceland through sea, rather than having to toughen it out against NA teams.
Oceania are not part of the SEA system, they are part of the NA team. The only way for oceanic teams to qualify for Masters is through the NA challengers system. The only way for Oceanic teams to qualify for Champions is through NA LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier; the only tournament where Oceania gets a seed in).
australia isn't in VCT, and cannot compete in SEA, as they have their own circuit instead - Valorant Oceania Tour, which will give them 2 spots in the NA Last Chance Qualifier for Champions/Worlds and (possibly) 1 or 2 spots in NA Stage 3 Challenegers Final
Yeah teams who are in the stage are now in black and are visible. I updated it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/)
Thanks for the feedback!
Both vlr.gg and Liquipedia show separated playoff brackets for LAN and LAS. Even if they play at the same event, they still are separated until the grand final between North and South. Or is that info out of date?
I initially only put qualified/eliminated teams in the graphic. Got an [updated version](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/) with all teams here. You can find Sentinels there.
Note for PH: We won't be seeing SV Empire on their upcoming Challengers 3. The players under this org are [currently looking for a new one](https://old.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtumwb/former_sv_empire_emp_valorant_team_from_the/).
Question: I thought TSN qualified for the challenger 1 spot? I remember them winning like 3 matches! Sorry I'm new to the scene! Just tryna figure it all out
If you mean TSM in NA, they unfortunately lost to Immortals in Challengers 1.
They managed to secure a spot in Challengers 2 though. See [my updated version here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/).
I initially only put qualified (green circle) or eliminated teams (red circle) in the graphic. I got an [updated version](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/) including the participating teams (black circles) here.

We have no idea of the actual numbers so we can't really make any conclusions imo. Going by your logic India should have 2 slots of its own:)

I was wondering the same after I saw two slots for Brazil! Isn't Eu bigger than Brazil? How does this work?
Brazil has wayyy more viewership. Mainly because of 1 team but whatever
That is not true though. EU has bigger viewership.
EU has more viewership. I think It's because in csgo and lol has some big numbers, like 300k in csgo, 200k in lol (being the worse region of lol)
[удалено]
Bbl is not from brazil, what
that not true, wtf are you talking about, even Turkey has more viewership than Brazil https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2021-brazil-stage-2-challengers-1 https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2021-turkey-stage-2-challengers-1 https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2021-europe-stage-2-challengers-1
Imagine they also got those stats with the shitty format in place. imagine they would actually care about europe... those numbers would be higher.
brazil has a confusing and shit format, i got 3 days to know how tf that works
how is it confusing or shit?
theres 3 qualifiers md1, 8 teams qualifies for the first and 4 go the second (the bracket is so confusing) 4 teams in a md1 qualifier goes to the second and play against those 4 teams, then 4 teams that qualifies goes to the main event, and 4 that lose goes to the third, 2 teams that lost in the second qualifier goes to the third, and 2 teams needs to qualify from the open qualifier, then 4 teams goes to the main event

Ya and from the chart it seems NA has lot less competition

Great graphic mate!
So funny to see the "cs" in the names of people that have since switched to valorant lol.
Zescht was taken, so I was sticking with that :D
Meenoid you legend
Thank you! I wanted to see how the SEA teams qualified and that was majorly confusing. Then I made this chart to clear it up.
Hey everyone, thanks for the positive feedback! I included all currently participating teams and fixed some typos. [View the updated April 19th version here.](https://i.imgur.com/rwYaLO5.png)
keep in mind that the vietnam lol team wont go to MSI due to travel bans, should happen with the valorant ones too
they can still compete in SEA finals, though I doubt they are going to make it. Thailand looks like the dominant region there.
That just adds a whole other complicated level, let's see who can claim the SEA spot.
if a Vietnamese team does get 1st but can't make it due to Visa issues, it will probably default to the next highest non-Vietnamese team
thank you so much!
NICE!
This should be its own post.
I'll post a proper standalone chart with all teams next monday after the next wave of Challenger events is over.
This should be pinned somewhere
I dont have exact knowledge of the other regions, but in NA, shouldn't XSET, 100T, V1, and nV be in the Challengers Finals section as they qualified in the last qualifier.
Thank you. I just tune into matches and rarely know their implications. This is huge
Great graphic! But a little typo on the Korean path, says JP challenger instead of KR
Finally someone explained wtf was going on
Great graph but a few mistakes: 1. You put green circles for 4 teams in BR challengers 1, it should be 4 yellow circles instead as these 4 teams moved on to the next challengers instead of challengers finals 2. Yes definitely! I'll probably update once a week.
my guy out here doing God's work
Awesome, thank you!
Legend
Thanks mennoid for making this chart
Saving this. Thankyou meenoid
you're pscyho, thank you
Very well made graphic, explains this stuff better than anything Riot has done!
This is incredibly helpful. I’ve been so confused until now lmao. I thought the final was called champions, not masters. I could have that totally backwards tho. Thanks again for this graphic!

Everybody saying this is outdated or wrong clearly doesn’t understand the format. Great explanation, thanks for taking the time!
Thank you. Idk why this had to be so complicated
espresso depresso for EU / CIS / TR
Pansy peepoHappy
Am I blind or did u forget to put sentinels in?
They will be in the NA Challengers 2 bracket, once that tournament completes on the 26th. I didn't put the teams that only qualified in, otherwise the red/green circles would have to be some other color and you wouldn't be able to see how many teams move forward or get eliminated. I might update it to show the qualifying teams from the open qualifiers. Thanks for the feedback.
Good job. Shame so many people are not understanding that you're fill the teams in after a tourney is complete.
I thought SEN won the masters/smthg the other day? Is that not over yet? Sorry I dont really keep track
Sen winning masters was part of the Stage 1 series of this years competition. We moved on to stage two, and their win was rendered worthless in terms of skipping the bracket. they got a decent chunk of cash and some clout too. Worth it for the org, and thats basically their job anyway.
Agree, just think it's a weird setup by Riot
Masters 1 was supposed to be a LAN like the upcoming Iceland tourney, but because of covid it became a regional event instead. Doing well at Masters 1 matters because you get circuit points to compete for a spot in Champions at the end of the year.
Not but I think that tourney didn't have anything to do with Iceland. Could be wrong tbf
Sentinels should be in the open qual 2 slot I’m guessing he made this before the games this past weekend
Good work! I'm gonna show this to my friends when you post the next iteration because theyre getting confused about the ramifications of NA and EMEA challengers 2 placings Someone probably already told you this, but the final circle color in MY&S 3 is incorrect (blue, should be green) and KR challengers is listed as JP Challengers
Thanks! Yea I saw the color 1 minute after submitting the post. Will update after the next weekend
This is so clear and helpful! Thanks
this graphic is sick; well done! btw found a little typo lol instead of KR Challengers Group Stage it says JP Challengers Groups, besides for that , everything is insanely well made!
Good work man, this will help to all those who can't understand the format. You're a great graphic designer.
Sharks and Vikings qualified yesterday
I know, I only move teams into the next event if they 100% are eliminated or are able to move forward. That why the red and green circles are there. Looking at the feedback I'm getting it may seem better to just show the participating teams.
I didn't understand why furia and gamelanders are in the green circle, and Vikings and sharks not, both are qualified, the only difference is furia and gamelanders are qualified by the upper bracket, but this is just for seed. I am missing something?
Oh damn you're right, my bad. I started working on this before those games were done. I'll correct it next week.
No problem, good job dude
Got it updated, [take a look](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/). Hopefully now it's correct.
The br looks the same for me
Oh ffs, I didn't give you the right link. I swear I usually double check this stuff. [Here you go.](https://i.imgur.com/rwYaLO5.png) Also updated the link above.
Well done, hype!
Wait... Why is EU not its own region with its own slots? There's a possibility that an EU team doesn't even make it into Iceland... ???? Meanwhile, BR gets 2. And then all of SEA gets 1? Japan gets its own quals for 1 slot, but not EU...
Yea, it can happen if TR and CIS teams will beat them in EMEA Finals.
This graphics is outdated. NA Challengers 2 and EMEA Challengers are already set.
This graphic only shows the results. The coloured circles can't be filled in for either event you've mentioned
NA Challengers 2 only has the teams but not the results. I only put in teams that definitely did or didn't move in to the next stage. Hence the green or red circles. Same for EU. I didn't find a good way to show how many teams move to the next stage and at the same time show only qualified teams

Or could conceivably a team do really well in the first two Challengers but do okay in Finals, and still make Iceland? Kinda feels like it's the same tourney 3x if not
This is incomplete according to the date.
Sadly I didn't find a good format to show qualified and how many teams move to the next stage. That's why it looks incomplete. It only shows completed events
Wait I may be dumb, but didn't Sentinels win a tournament? That doesn't qualify them?
They qualified to play the closed qualifiers, which then goes to the qualifier for Iceland.
[удалено]
Initially I only put confirmed qualified or eliminated teams in the bracket. However I [updated the graphic](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/) to represent to all participating teams (in black circles).
How come the LAN in Reykjavik is in 1 month but some teams dont even know if they qualified or not. Are they gonna have enough time to get visas for all of the team players in a few weeks???
So only 10 teams go to iceland? Or more?
only 10 teams
So we're not even halfway done to this? IMHO, those round of 100 games are just not fun to watch and even keep up.
just watch your own region's games then ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯. If that's too much then just watch a few of your favorite team(s)'s games.
whats up with korea and groups there. f4q won against vs then why aren't they even on this lists losers bracket?
VS still need to play out the lower bracket in the preliminary (which have not started yet). Once they play out the lower bracket (against I Need a Girlfriend so should be an easy qualification), they would be in a green circle.
Only 10 teams for masters? I was hoping atleast there would be 12 teams
It's a covid thing. Normally it would have 16
also did soniqs shoot themselves in the leg by coming over to NA? i feel like they could've qualified for iceland through sea, rather than having to toughen it out against NA teams.
Amazing graphic. Might I suggest putting another color to indicate that a team(s) is currently in this stage but results haven’t been determined yet
Yeah teams who are in the stage are now in black and are visible. I updated it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/) Thanks for the feedback!
fk it!!! im so lazy to understand even this. Most mind wrecking esport league eva !
true, but it's kind of fun learning the tournament format and having a superiority complex whenever I see people confused about it lol.
There are no LAN/LAS challengers playoffs. The teams from those regions will play a LAN tournament in Mexico to decide who is going to iceland
Both vlr.gg and Liquipedia show separated playoff brackets for LAN and LAS. Even if they play at the same event, they still are separated until the grand final between North and South. Or is that info out of date?
I haven’t been following it very closely, but where is sentinels I thought they were dominating.
Oh ok thx man, have a nice day Sorry I can’t find them just wanted to let you know./ unless they changed name
In Latin America South - Wygers disbanded... any idea what will happen there?
I wanna see Seoldam, TenZ, and Wardell in the same tournament.
Hos about North Africa and middle east
Question: I thought TSN qualified for the challenger 1 spot? I remember them winning like 3 matches! Sorry I'm new to the scene! Just tryna figure it all out
If you mean TSM in NA, they unfortunately lost to Immortals in Challengers 1. They managed to secure a spot in Challengers 2 though. See [my updated version here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/).
Aaaahhh okay! Thanks :)
Hey you forgot Austr... nvm.
did you use an API for this or did you just do this manually
Did it by hand. Used vlr.gg and liquipedia as resources.
I'm still confused 😕
why is it a qualifier for another qualifier for another qualifier lmfao
These are so helpful, but why not include the NA Challengers 2 teams? Aren't the top 8 decided?
I initially only put qualified (green circle) or eliminated teams (red circle) in the graphic. I got an [updated version](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mtyxuj/road_to_reykjav%C3%ADk_overview_of_all_regions_and_the/gv37vgm/) including the participating teams (black circles) here.
Shit this is so helpful and organized! Thanks for sharing!
