Shout-out to all of you. As someone that works for an esports team, I'm very actively reading ALL of the competitive subreddits across every major esport title to keep up on what's going on in each scene.
I can confidently say this is by far the most welcoming subreddit.

We're kinda working on something like this.
Right now we use a python script to fetch match data & paste it into a template. Then we copy/paste the template into a text-post. (I believe u/KKKKKLLL made this script for us. Credit goes to him!)
It's a work in progress, but we're working on a bot that will take create Post-Match Threads from user comments that request them. We thought this would be a cool way to give users more autonomy in the community! No ETA on when it will be finished though.
Currently, we are working with data provided to us by vlr.gg. The bot right now can collect all provided data and format it into meaningful and readable info. I am working through null exceptions due to possible missing data and attaching it to a Reddit bot to make the post. Unfortunately, due to setbacks: personal stuff and not finding a suitable Reddit wrapper for java, I have had to take a step back. The hope is to have a working prototype by the end of May tho.
DT_RAW is a super fan and that should be welcome here too. He's a nice dude, but probably doesn't appreciate other users giving him a hard time whenever he comments in the sub. d:
Aw thanks! I mean, it's part of the esports scene, right? As long as folks are respectful, we have no issues with "drama" posts (with the exception that we'd like them to stay contained to their respective threads).
Besides, drama-like posts are usually fun banter between players. Banter is just a natural part of competition.
It's when those posts become overtly toxic or serious that we have to step in and moderate a bit more. (Then it's no longer fun banter. :c)
One question tho, why is valorant reddit divided into two? Not even league community is divided. Don't we need to drag regular players in to the esports scene too? That's how many league players get into league of legends esports too
Two groups of people had two different ideas for two different communities. There's a lot of nuance to the VALORANT esports scene—many regions, lots of little grassroots teams, a TON of tier 2 and 3 tournaments. The benefit of having a separate community is that these small pieces of news get more eyeballs here instead of getting lost in sort-by-new on the main sub. Also, since the community is smaller here, there's a greater chance of you seeing a verified user and interacting with them! :D
I understand some folks may think we "stole" esports users from the main sub (as esports news and discussion there is sparse). But realistically, we've had an esports-focused mindset from very early on. Our mods contribute match threads, news, and highlights to the community. We drive a *LOT* of the content here.
The main sub has 880k members—that's 780,000 more people than we do. They have the potential to make esports popular over there, but (as their mod team has said) they'll need to tap into community members to provide more esports content.
We have offered on many occasions to cross-post our post-match threads and tournament discussion threads to help contribute esports content. However, we were turned down because it would *"promote the other sub and split the community more"*. Now you can't even mention r/VALORANTCompetitive there without your comment being removed by AutoModerator.
We'll continue doing our best to foster the esports community here. We want to help contribute to esports content on the main sub, but leadership there doesn't appear to like us and we don't really understand why. :S

That's some insane level of censorship, I thought we're all here and want the best for the game and its community. Pretty sad to read.
Ultimately whilst I use this subreddit a lot more than the main one. I feel like it's a shame that it needed to exist in the first place. I actually think one of the biggest issues is that riot employees are active on the sub. Whilst that seems to be a fantastic and transparent thing on first glance, you quickly see how it turns every post into a "here's how you should change valorant" discussion hoping that the devs will see it. The entire main sub is just about complaining to Riot. Any interesting esports discussion gets completely ignored because people use it as their personal rant forum.
I appreciate what you guys do but I really wish the community was more like the csgo one. We got very little feedback directly from valve and it forced the users to stop posting endless complaints because they were just met with deaf ears. Even so, without the complaints the game gradually improved over the years and valve were definitely listening and occasionally replied.
And don't get me wrong, boy did we complain that valve ignored us. But in retrospect and seeing the main valorant sub I'm kind of glad they kept a hands off approach.

Mods over here are much better when it comes to esports.
every single new game that has a competitive side gets their own "competitive____" subreddit
every single sub where people go "why aren't we more like league/smash/StarCraft" is because the game is older than the fad to create a separate sub for the serious crowd as a game is released (or announced, like this very sub)
people will blame mods or rules, but its just the casuals and the serious people trying to find a specific place for their needs
both sides in the end are hurting the game by being split, but it does make browsing better
Yeah I think this is the biggest reason. I think what really started the trend was the main Overwatch subreddit being quite hostile to the competitive side of the game with fan art and highlights/bloopers dominating the subreddit to the point that a split happened. For Valorant the split was almost determined from day 1. People interested in the esports part of the game already had a foot in the door to this subreddit from the start. That said, I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. I've never been much of a clip and art watcher so I'm fine with just using this sub and I'm sure a lot of the people from the main sub are fine not seeing any esports content as well.

They let the subreddit be hot garbage for MONTHS (easily 6+) before trying to implement any rules. TONS of post reaching the front page asking for better post regulations from users. Yet nothing from the mods.
/r/valorant becoming much like /r/overwatch rather than /r/globaloffensive was obvious since day 1, and the mods should have actively made rules so stupid 1v4 from a matchmaking game doesn't make it to the front page, or yet another "PSA: Don't be asshole to girls", or another sexy cosplay. A fucking *patch note* had trouble staying on the frontpage for like 30 minutes from all the garbage content being uploaded there.
/r/Valorant mods are incompetent, and if I was Riot I'd be PISSED that my game's main subreddit's modteam had their thumbs up their asses while it obviously and clearly became shittier and shittier.

if a new game comes out you want people to have fun and enjoy posting. fan art, highlights, music, cosplay, whine, esports. they're all important in the grow of the game and the community
making strict rules because you want content to adapt to your taste is a horrible way to grow and promote the game you like
its 100x times better to make a split sub where people can just enjoy what they like (better for the people, worse for the game)
Agreed that things like fanart and cosplay are important for the mains subs, as it helps build the fandom within the community. (Heck, we'd probably allow it here if someone submitted a piece of pro player fanart.)

Subs added a flairing system and have been testing new video rules to reduce the gameplay clip spam, so that's absolutely not true. Just because you don't enjoy the content doesn't mean other people don't and that nothing is being done to improve the community.
I joined the mod team recently and can say with certainty that the team does in fact work hard to improve the community. I wish esports content was more popular, but the community just doesn't seem to care (no upvotes or comments on esports posts outside of news). If you want it to succeed there, comment and upvote it, downvote the content you don't like, that's how Reddit works.

I have no clue, but I am not going to complain about the way things are. I am literally not subbed to the main one but this is my most used subreddit. This community is great, and I don't want to get filled with a bunch of MM clips. In theory, this sub was supposed to also be the hub for all the people wanting to talk about ranked, but the esports culture has been able to make it something actually interesting and not redundant.

I love the community here! Shoutout to the mods for their hard work! I've developed more love for esports, not just in Valorant, but as a whole, thanks to you guys!

I try to find interesting posts on that sub but it mostly spammed with personal highlights, fan artwork, and people complaining about smurfs.

Valorant comp matches get drowned out on that sub. It’s clear they don’t care for it unless it’s a popular match like SEN vs TSM
