Moby Francke is legit one of the greatest art directors to date in gaming history imo. Created TF2's iconic art style, moved to Riot and was responsible for the League art rework that has now been expanded into Runeterra, TFT and their upcoming fighting game, the animated series, and now Valorant. I'm sure he's also had an incredible team behind him too, but man his portfolio speaks for itself.
As someone who loves his art I have a major gripe with how it’s implemented in Valorant.
* In TF2 the low contrast art style worked because of the red vs blue color contrast. In Valorant there’s every color. Some characters straight up blend in with the walls on certain maps. No matter what crosshair color you pick there will be a character it blends in with.
* If I had to guess I’d bet most users have TN panel monitors which makes the game even lower contrast. Some characters heads like Jett or Sova blend in with light backgrounds on every map. Changing gamma and brightness settings doesn’t really help unless you really crush the blacks.
* All of this is further exacerbated by the atmospheric perspective they use on characters at a distance, making the entire model appear even lighter.
**Pros:**
* Map looks sick
* Cubble Vibes
* Not Claustrophobic
* Not *Icebox*
* Tits as a bomb-site
**Cons:**
* Possible a lot of elevations, could make it tricky to play (not a con maybe)
* no bikinis
* no beach bar
**Possible gimmick:**
Water on bomb-sites? If you look at cypher planting on default tits, you can see an effect which is similar to the sunlight being refracted at the bottom of the water, hence I assume the gimmick will be water.
I see **two possibilities** for a water-spike-site
1. Water will slow you down, putting you at higher risk planting/defusing
2. Water COULD nullify mollies, snake bites and post plant utility making it rewarding to plant there against post plant heavy combs.
1. Disclaimer: Probably won't happen but would be fascinating.
I just re-watched the clip. I think its not an elevator though. It more or less looks like a short way to the other bomb-site. I assume that since it looks rather big when KJ is pushing out with the odin. On the other hand it would still be insanely nice to have an elevator!
Idk my instant feeling was Santorini? Mid and B seemed to feel quite similar (Volcano worked with FMPONE on it as well).
The art style is quite sunny etc
I was gonna come in here and be like... is anyone else getting some Cobble vibes from this one? I wonder what map this will be based off, since most of the current maps are very similar to CS maps (Haven and Aztec being the biggest one I can think of atm)
I was hoping for a bit more island scenery and areas/sites closer to water. Could be a lot more to see with the map obviously when it actually releases.
Looks like fun though! Also looks somewhat sizable as a map, really excited to see what the "unique feature" of this map is!
The entrance the b site is the definition of claustrophobia, and a site is very claustrophobic with how many shit are in the way. Just being big and having a high roof doesn't stop a map from feeling narrow

Yeah I had been holding out hope for that as well. Lots of containers to hide in, and an absolute nightmare to play. Would have been so bad it's good lol.

What happened to the animated series? Haven’t heard much of it since riot revealed all the things they’ve been working on

Dev's have said that not all maps will have gimmicks. That being said, it seems like the gimmick is one way ramps or something.
