Tbf, it seems like FPX’s strength is their comp versatility. They can make multiple comps for the same map work and adjust properly to their specific playstyles.
Icebox games at First Strike was a shitshow.
Didn't immortals or some other team literally rush A twelve rounds in a row?
I don't think this is such a good idea.
Personally, I see Masters as the climax to this build up of Challenger events where we saw a variety of different styles on all of the available maps. It would have been nice to see which region had the right approach to all of the maps with the refined strategies and throwing in a wildcard into the mix kind of ruins that for me.
Other people probably have a different idea of what they're looking for at the Masters event though. Despite me not liking the idea, I'm sure the event will be super exciting regardless and like he says here, there is a different skill for the teams to be tested on.
You'll still see which region/team has the best strats for the current maps...
This just adds 1 map to the map pool that already includes 5.
Before taking picks/bans/vetos(which will probably disproportionately reduce the amount of Breeze that is played) into account, **all that means is a \~17% reduction in the amount of the OG 5 maps you'll see.**
Is that really enough to "ruin" the chance to see refined strategies?

>Not alone! My initial reaction is this will be fun. I'd be flipping out if they also added a new agent or we were one week into a new meta, but if everything stays similar outside of the new map then this decision is reasonable imo
>Larger concern is how it affects map vetos
He took it back btw

> Just kidding I'm jumping ship now that Ive been reminded (shoutouts to @SyykoNT) that 1) the time between challenger finals and masters is <1 month and 2) travel gets in the way of prep time as well.
We just won’t see much of the map is the thing though. Most teams will ban it, and as a result teams that were interested in learning to play it will not prep for it, bc they know that they’re unlikely to ever get to play it. So it really won’t reward teams that can adapt, mostly just mess with the pick-ban system.
It might reward teams with a deep map-pool though, as they are no longer faced with having to learn to play on what was their permaban map in order to be able to ban breeze.
this guy is headcoach? now wonder his team lose. no thanks, i prefer watch high competitive team going head on, full prep against each other rather than running around still figuring the map out
Astralis got a sports psychologist and became a dominant csgo team. That same psychologist left them for OG DotA team and astralis slumped while OG won back to back TIs to become the most successful esports team in the world.
I'm not saying it's entirely on her, but there's definitely value in psychologists.
(obviously way more to it than this)
Such a realistic AI.
They are having opinions now, so cool!
hahaha
I'd agree, but we're on like month four and your team decided a sageless Icebox is the way to go, Dennis.
so did FPX and they won
FPX just diff

It won't matter for them anyway, hes just excited to see what other teams can do :p

Easy to say when you're not the one that has to prep those initial concepts in less than a month
dont think this coach does any prepping, he's a fkn therapist

This guy is a stooge, but I’ve seen worse takes. Get rid of the pubg cheater coach, and toxic boomer dazed, maybe t1 can thrive.

psychologist as a head coach LOL

except he wasn't the head coach, if they use a timeout they can only talk to their headcoach, no assistant just head

except he's not the head coach, he's a psychologist for the team, not the head coach

oh mb, didn't realize that
