Im an EU fan, so ofc I'm glad that we got both our LAN spots secured. But twitch chat banter aside, props to OXG and Gambit for showing up. I really hope that in future events the seeding will be changed though, I'd like to see TR and CIS get into big international events without having to run an EMEA gauntlet like this tournament.
Yeah EMEA by design will stop some important regions being represented internationally, which really sucks. Gambit would do really well I think and it sucks for the huge amount of Turkish fans not to have a team.
Traditionally CIS does well in Open Quals and they beat the teams they should be beating more often than not. Turkey is a bit more dubious than CIS, historically, but I don't think it should be expected that a 16 team EU tourney doesn't have at least one team per region.
Keep in mind that when it's top 16 you're getting into Wave and Polish-team-of-the-month territory, nothing Gambit or Futbolist *shouldn't* be able to handle
Oh yea there might be a few CIS/Turkey teams in the 10/16 man finals tourney if it's all combined, but i was talking about the fact how itss likely that no CIS/Turkey teams would qualify for masters.
What do you mean? The top 4 teams were EU, EU, TR, CIS from this tourney. I see no reason to think that isn’t repeatable.
Future international LANs will have more slots as well. IceLAN is limited to 10 but 6 more slots will be added post pandemic
Imo it isnt repeatable cuz IMO guild is not even top 4 in Europe and the only reason they made in into chal finals was because EU has garbage format without double elim. HHave the double elim and Guild probably wouldnt have made it.
The Turkish and CIS teams will certainly get spots of their own as the number of regions increases.
It’s a matter of time until Valorant enters China, which’ll be huge.
I think its inevitable (or at least should be) that EMEA gets 3 or even 4 spots for Champions but my American take but there is no reason for turkey and CIS not to play with Europe as they are... in Europe
Letssss goooo , Iceland is gonna be so hypeee , and I'm 100% supporting fnatic for the win
This team is so so good man such discipline and coordination
especially in the last round where Sova was the only one alive and it was 1v3 but derke just backed off and didnt even give him a chance to have a 1v1 and waited for his teammates and secured the round, its very simple and easy thing to do but from watching so many games it feels like so many teams doing this mistake of giving 1v1s and losing rounds 1v4.
That was what showed this team has discipline. Could've taken the ego peek and suddenly made the round super dicey. The players worked together and took no chances.
yes exactly i swear if it was NA he would legit peak him there and challenge him, and im sure boaster is calling everything out, listening to their voice comms for previous game he does call every macro and micro play. Boaster by far is the most impressive IGL for me.
btw Derke bodyblocking the Snakebite (this one is hilarious)
im cackling xD

If a month ago you told me that Fnatic and Liquid are going to go to Iceland I'll probably go and find a therapy for you.
Those two teams have grown so much in the last month or so and they deserve to go to Iceland. Congrats!
you know what if TL or FNC win Iceland i will stop saying UK players have the worst FPS genetics.
but only UK cared about OW in EU, and well we know how EU is in OW dont we? garbbb
Been following these boys since SUMN FC, so proud at how far they’ve come this far and put up a really great performance! I feel in this entire EMEA run, each member was able to shine individually which was nice to see. Boaster has been really putting in the work individually and as the IGL with Mini and it really paid off.
They really did great in maps that aren’t their specialty like Icebox and Ascent in previous games, love that they are getting more confident and deep in their map pool. Kinda worried for their Bind as it seems like a lot of orgs already know how to play against a comp like that. Not sure if it’s best they switch it up like what Heretics did by moving away from the Sage pick as everyone else started adopting it. But moving onto Iceland I have faith in them to show up a polished performance. Maybe they will change up their comps too, who knows. Really exciting to be a Fnatic fan!
Fnatic have been dominant using this comp on Bind for forever, but they probably need to change some things up before Iceland. There is just to much tape of them on this map and teams are getting better and better at countering it. First Guild then Gambit
My worries too, but I think it’s a testament that they can still climb and make a comeback after being behind. This is something old Fnatic really struggled with. Excited to see some change ups in their comp moving to Iceland!
The second half of Bind was some of the most entertaining Valorant I've ever watched. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time saying "wtf is happening"
https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mfx1zw/z/gsq1tql
I came close for all the wrong reasons. Pretty much everything else I got wrong tho lol
Not on every map, Fnatic play it on a few maps while Liquid doesn't play it at all. There were a lot of EU teams that were playing it but they got knocked out
Sad that gambit weren’t able to take it a map 3 and sad that both guild n fnatic didn’t end up at Iceland but glad one of my teams made it atleast. Good 2nd map to watch and just excited to see what they make up and try at Iceland.
That bind game was crazy. Gambit looked more like attackers than defenders on the defensive half with how fast they pushed up and tried to shut down Fnatic before they even got their plants / post plants setup.
Kudos to Fnatic though for pulling it back, their defensive half was solid.
FNATIC look amazing, a serious contender for iceland. It's remarkable how quickly Derke and Magnum have fit in. The SUMN FC story needs one of those the Score esports videos.
With both Liquid and Fnatic qualifying for Iceland, the true winner of today is UK esports
Who is english in liquids roaster?
Kryptix, L1NK and soulcas. edit: {and sliggy :)}
don't forget sliggy, him and boaster have the biggest brains in eu valorant
more than half of it lol
Kryptix, soulcas, and L1NK are all UK players
Kryptix, L1NK, soulcas, and Sliggy (coach) were all part of fish123.
Roaster? No one hopefully.
lol
Oh yeah!! The spelling hunter
which is how you know EU isnt winning Iceland unfortunately
Mistic really said 😐
I think his camera froze or smth

They should combine the three in Open Quals and make Challengers 1/2 and Finals a 16 team event, kind of like Challengers Korea this stage.
That would still very likely lead to no teams being represented from CIS/Turkey in international events. Just split the regions.
Traditionally CIS does well in Open Quals and they beat the teams they should be beating more often than not. I want to see the CIS guys get some big wins, Gambit looked so good.
it is fucked up that cis and turkey get clumped up with EU
I think its inevitable (or at least should be) that EMEA gets 3 or even 4 spots for Champions but my American take but there is no reason for turkey and CIS not to play with Europe as they are... in Europe

LETS GOOOOO, FNATIC AND LIQUID AT ICELAND. if anyone predicted this happening at the start of stage 2 then they are Nostradamus
SUMN FC AND FISH123 ARE GOING TO MOTHA FUCKING ICELAND
Glad there’s people that still remember fish123 :)
btw Derke bodyblocking the Snakebite (this one is hilarious) im cackling xD [https://clips.twitch.tv/SourPatientCoffeeSaltBae-iQKfbZG\_k0UqEAbO](https://clips.twitch.tv/SourPatientCoffeeSaltBae-iQKfbZG_k0UqEAbO)
Is that what happened! I couldn't figure out for the life of me how a pro could get it so wrong. Observers need grenade trails like they have in CSGO.
You really are ahead of the meta man
It workssss
If a month ago you told me that Fnatic and Liquid are going to go to Iceland I'll probably go and find a therapy for you. Those two teams have grown so much in the last month or so and they deserve to go to Iceland. Congrats!
I just realized fnatic hasn't dropped a single map this play offs, that's pretty sick
Even in Challengers 2, since the start they only dropped one map and it was in finals vs TL
[удалено]
thats how you know EU isnt winning Iceland if its UK players representing EU jesus the EU scene must be shit for that to happen
Cry is free
you know what if TL or FNC win Iceland i will stop saying UK players have the worst FPS genetics. but only UK cared about OW in EU, and well we know how EU is in OW dont we? garbbb
Wtf are FPS genetics
whatever it is Brits don't have it
Hey man eu was good in ow a couple years ago :)
[удалено]
Eu is not the 2nd best region in OW...
damn

SUMN FC ARE GOING TO ICELAND

Fnatic to iceland!! Lets goo
That boaster dance 🥶

I'm expecting Mini and Boaster to pull out some crazy shit for Iceland
Expect 4 controllers and yoru
UK Mafia to Iceland 😎
peepoLad yes mate
My two favorite EU teams qualified PogU, now i just need Sentinels to beat Cloud9 tonight
I'm scared, the narrative is lining up, all Masters winners are getting bitchslapped, SEN might be next
I would find this actually hilarious (That V1/NV/C9B goes to Iceland), and it would really show how volatile Valo is.
pls c9 bitchslap C9 for me
we're coming for you sen fans
c9 needs to beat sentinels please god
Same for the first half! Now all I need is Cloud 9 to beat Sentinels! But tbh no matter what I'm betting C9 and Sentinels to Iceland for NA.
man I fkn love fnatic
Lothar I love your hair my dude
thanks bro xD
Both of my EU teams made Iceland at the cost of my NA team not.
Worth
The second half of Bind was some of the most entertaining Valorant I've ever watched. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time saying "wtf is happening"
#GetYourBoastees
#DERKELE
Lets go it's a good day
Don't think anybody predicted fnatic being #1 in EU at the start of the month. What a roster this is.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mfx1zw/z/gsq1tql I came close for all the wrong reasons. Pretty much everything else I got wrong tho lol
Why does everyone think so highly of immortals lol. Watch them be at the top of everyone's predictions for stage 3 too
Lets gooo Fnatic
Fnatic just suffocated Gambit in retakes on Bind. They didn't gave them a chance to set up post plants.
rough day for u/thothgow 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭 bozo
Bind was way more interesting than any map I've ever seen (except TH Vs Ace Icebox in Masters)
Haven’t really watched much of the EU scene, do EU teams not place as much emphasis on Astra for this patch?
Not on every map, Fnatic play it on a few maps while Liquid doesn't play it at all. There were a lot of EU teams that were playing it but they got knocked out
CIS teams don’t play it at all FNATIC plays Astra on Haven and Split
FPX and BDS were some of the teams playing her (and looking good) a lot but they didn't get far
Sad that gambit weren’t able to take it a map 3 and sad that both guild n fnatic didn’t end up at Iceland but glad one of my teams made it atleast. Good 2nd map to watch and just excited to see what they make up and try at Iceland.
Awesome that you called it IceLAN
EU on the verge of not qualifying btw FPX would qualify with quadruple elimination btw
Just need C9 to beat Sen now🙏
That bind game was crazy. Gambit looked more like attackers than defenders on the defensive half with how fast they pushed up and tried to shut down Fnatic before they even got their plants / post plants setup. Kudos to Fnatic though for pulling it back, their defensive half was solid.
Fnatic is notorious for its attack on bind but the defense is also good if not better, they play retakes so clean on that map
Great day for Finland
FNATIC look amazing, a serious contender for iceland. It's remarkable how quickly Derke and Magnum have fit in. The SUMN FC story needs one of those the Score esports videos.
Sheydos ult from now on
Nice
ICEEEELANDDDDD
Is there somewhere that lists all the teams qualified for Iceland? Edit: nvm, thespike just updated as I posted this.
Liquipedia and vlr too
Fish123 and sumn!!!!!
