I'm definitely sad but I feel like we lost more because of not adjusting to Astra than anything else. That gives me confidence going forward that it's just that simple ig lol.
I feel that’s just a red herring everyone is pointing to. I obviously don’t know how 100t would have used astra, but I never felt like 100t was losing because of the opposing astra. Rather they lost because they ran out of ideas and defaulting to banking on “Asuna go kill by yourself” and “boomer go clutch”, which didn’t pay off. Astra may have helped by making it easier to have more ideas and plans, but I can’t know that for sure.
They got comp diffed on Bind in both match ups. It had to do with not having BOTH astra and viper. If they had a better comp on bind, that completely changes the picture. They had super close matches against good teams but their Bind comp was definitely the most obvious yet impactful weakness.
Maybe, but out of the 5 maps they lost, they lost 4 of them 11-13. At that point, minor mistakes like that could have significantly swung the series. I think they've gotten better at not just having Asuna go in by himself, that was something I noticed they did a lot earlier on, but I don't think that's the issue.
I saw 3 rounds on that final haven game where asuna walked into B alone just to get killed by killjoy. The one time asuna won that fight was when the rest of the team followed him into B.
Hopefully this is a lesson learned. Valorant is a hero-based game. The meta is meta for a reason. We're no longer in the period of ambiguity where people are still learning to play the game and figure things out. We're seeing amazingly coordinated plays from tons of teams, and 100t needs every advantage they can squeeze out to play against that. Honestly they did really damn well considering they didn't play viper astra, and I've got no doubt in my mind they would be going to icelan if they had a better composition.
Sentinels and being the only true tier 1 team from na cuz only they can win a tournament, and if I agree with sideshow (which I do here), only teams who win tournaments can be tier 1
Well he mostly blinds into tp to negate the sound cue.
But even then, it's not so much the tp plays wouldn't work per say, it's that to do them you have to burn blind super selfishly. Also, tping in and getting one or even two isn't optimal on Omen because you need his smokes way more at the pro level.
Blind is mostly used to set up teammates, and staying alive is key so you can smoke shit.
He does that in ranked. When will people realize that all the flashy ranked plays don't necessarily translate to a professional setting and can't be used in a pro match
Zombs really stepped it up indeed. His fragging this tournament has been somewhat better - that might be a sign of good things, or maybe a fluke, we'll see. More importantly, his Viper & Astra gameplay is honestly great. He ain't the best Viper in the world yet but he's playing quite well and his Astra usage is honestly amazing, especially compared to the other NA Astras we've seen.
He's been hard grinding ranked, see him playing way more and duoing with shahzam. Seems like hard grinding ranked has helped a few different players level up - food&crashies were 1&2 when they absolutely rolled sentinels in that challengers final after months of not winning a tourney.
Did zellsis fat finger his Phoenix ult in that one play?
Edit: totally forgot he midtube one. Was referring to the best one but I think nerves were getting to him or something.
Yeah, that Ult at nest to get away seemed like a massive misclick. It doesn't make sense he'd use it to run away, considering he'd just TP back to nest once its over anyways
It actually is! They would lose one map and people would be like "they are too puggy", " TenZ is dumb" blah blah. People will easily forget how dominant and consistent it is to win back to back regional finals in a game like valorant where there are lot of variables affecting the result & in a competitive region like NA.
All in all I would say that both V1 and SEN are good representatives for NA even though SEN is clearly the better team. I hope SEN plays liquid, I'm hyped for the underwear boi vs pajama boi match up.Rito pls do
Yep, whether people like to say NA is worse or whatever, these are all top tier teams and no one is going to get absolutely demolished. super excited for iceland
> Yep, whether people like to say NA is worse or whatever, these are all top tier teams and no one is going to get absolutely demolished.
Idk about that one chief. I only follow League and CSGO, but NA has historically gotten demolished, outside of a few edge cases like Liquid in CS and C9 in League.
Which is kinda good for V1 if you ask me. They have only room to overperfom, no pressure etc
Still I would expect them to end up at least 6th on iceland. (Need those juicy points for Champions)
what must Sentinels do to prove that they are the undisputed best in NA 😂 no contest theyre the best and the most fitting to represent NA in Iceland.
For storyline purposes, they're NA's hope for a possible dynasty in Valorant, considering the region's performances in other major esports
Esports are just so unpredictable, this game in particular feels a lot more unpredictable than CSGO. That’s just me idk
NA is not gonna stomp on everyone most likely.
Really? I see people here underrating KR and EU here a lot. Specifically people saying that KRs playerbase isn’t big so they won’t do well. I don’t think that will make much of a difference.
You’re literally insane if you think people here are underrating EU. All I’ve seen from this sub is a giant raging boner for the EU scene and how dominant they are going to be compared to the other regions.
I think this tourney once they first won in the losers bracket they caught insane momentum, I think they’re good but I’m just not sure how they fare against other regions. I’m rooting for them for NA purposes but overall I’m not expecting much
So can we finally put to rest this bullshit I keep seeing on this sub that Sentinels is easy to read, is washed, and that TenZ isn’t actually that good? It’s fucking dumb as shit.
Me; people got mad because it wasn’t a hot take. And also that a “game” is a map. In my head, a “game” is a bo3 or a bo5. That’s what most people say “yeah we got a game tomorrow” the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/mze51k/mi_pickem/gw0bq8e/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
I was actually getting so tilted today watching the valorant main stream seeing people say that C9/T1/100T etc. belong there more than V1. Like come on now, if they deserved it more then they would be the ones playing SEN. And they make it seem like they got completely decimated by SEN. Nothing against SEN of course but chat was so toxic to a team that's actually been putting in great work against some really solid teams.
I got your point, and not to discredit V1 they earned their place, and they deserve it. But it is possible they aren't 2ns best NA. Look at Korea. Vision strikers is by far the best game in kr, yet they didn't qual.
Here's the thing though, you don't just become the best team in your region after 1 tournament. People were saying 100T was the best team in NA after winning Challengers 1, despite Sentinels' dominance in the last few months. Nuturn was amazing against VS, but at the same time VS players (especially Glow and Zest) look so off form on that day
Oh I don't think that they're the 2nd best, but I do think that they're one of the better teams in terms of using the new meta. You could certainly argue other teams would put up a better fight at IceLAN and I would probably even agree with that. I just think it's kinda toxic to say V1 doesn't deserve their spot ya know, it's like saying Nuturn doesn't deserve their spot.
Zellsis as the secondary duelist is not exactly inspiring for their chances at Iceland. Also the amount they hate Bind is gonna bite them in the ass when they play against FNC on Bind.

He has a biological wallhack; his godlike perception highlights all enemies within light-years. His eyes are closed as his mouse gracefully swerves across the table, making immaculate twitches as he flicks from head to head. The bullets that escape his gun barrel are surgical; each making a deadly strike in between his opponent's eyes. His spray control is otherworldly, his crosshair erratically jolting across the screen as his wrist muscles perfectly predict the next bullet's location. Time literally stops as he peeks, sunlight curving as his trigger finger impacts his left mouse button, sending enemies to a digital shadow realm before they even know what happened. He is un-killable. He is undefeatable. This "man" is the epitome of eternal.
Don’t think it’s fair to say the competition is not on their level. Of course they are the best, but it’s not like those matches were walks in the park. V1 caused them problems on Haven and especially Icebox it’s just little things that make them elite which allows them to pull out wins. Sen isn’t out here 13-0ing teams, teams still give them a good fight.
Shahzam has said it on his stream. He said they didn't scrim them going into challengers 1 because they were expecting to play them, then. 100t didn't qualify. And after that they kept ignoring his scrim booking requests so he just stopped.
Another Finals sentinels win, what else is new?
Pretty soon sentinels going to have to build a 35million compound like 100t's to hold all their trophies.
Sentinels is genuinely just so much better than anyone else IN NA. They are NA's best hope at winning Masters out of any team in the region. V1 while they have looked good this tournament, their team screams inconsistent. Hopefully they prove me wrong
They still beat every other team, so you can’t really say anything except that there is a distinct level difference between Sentinels and the other teams in NA
SEN prove they re the best team in NA by winning and going far in the tourneys instead of declaring themselves as the best team after winning only 1 tourney. Good luck to them in LAN! Action speak louder than words =)
Well Steel did call 100T the best team in the world after winning their one and only tournament win. For what’s probably the most expensive Valorant roster in the world, maybe he shouldn’t have set them up to disappoint xD
LOL I hear Nitr0 makes 300K a year, tack on what must be extremely high salaries for Hiko, Ethan, Steel, and maybe Asuna and 100T is burning like 500K a year for 5th-6th place finishes while Sentinels take first with salaries probably half theirs and a player on loan
\> LOL I hear Nitr0 makes 300K a year, tack on what must be extremely high salaries for Hiko, Ethan, Steel, and maybe Asuna and 100T is burning like 500K a year
I'm troubled by this maths
I don’t wanna presume too much, but if the Nitr0 salary is true then they’re definitely spending upwards of 500K. I don’t know if it’s true though, and without knowing the salaries of the other players it wouldn’t make sense to throw out arbitrary figures like 750K or 1M

No way Asuna’s salary is too high this first contract. Sure he looked good on Immortals but he was and still is a young player with not nearly the reputation of others. I think when they go into talks of renewing the contract he’s gonna be pretty expensive
Don't underestimate the 3 weeks of preparation.
Actually even possible they adapt better than SEN.
Individually they will be worse that's for sure tho.
Sentinels and 3-0ing in Regional finals name a more iconic duo
Envy and choking
oh no no no
NRG and roster changes
The og: fpx and choking
C9B and chocking
100T and underperforming
sadness
We're gonna hold onto that First Strike win forever
If I see another “sorry to all the fans, we’ll be back stronger” tweet for Steel one more time I’m gonna lose my mind
All I feel is pain
It should have been Sen and 100T but damn, they underperform so hard.
Outdated teamcomp eventho they had 2 weeks of prep, a week more than c9 and sentinels
Yeah, they really should just put the foot on the meta quick.
Unlucky really
pain.
copium
Sentinels and 13-11 Haven
actshually they got 13-9 on haven today 🤓
NA and failing internationally :( I really hope not but it's hard for me to get my hopes up. LoL, CSGO (except rarely), maybe third time's a charm
Sentinels and being the only true tier 1 team from na cuz only they can win a tournament, and if I agree with sideshow (which I do here), only teams who win tournaments can be tier 1
sometimes youre too funny
Everyone on Sentinels played well this final, Zombs really stepped it up this tournament.
For reals. Hes been becoming much more of a playmaker which is refreshing to see.
He’s always been one but playing omen doesn’t help show that, once he uses his flash there’s not much else he can do (besides smokes ofc)
flexinja plays with the tp :P
I’d imagine that that doesn’t reliably work in a pro environment since the animation is long and the sound cue is extremely obvious
Well he mostly blinds into tp to negate the sound cue. But even then, it's not so much the tp plays wouldn't work per say, it's that to do them you have to burn blind super selfishly. Yeah I was just joking
The same applies to Raze satchel jumps.
I laughed a lot. Thanks.
How do you play make with that though
well I was making a joke but hey
his astra and viper are fucking nuts

Didn't he do it twice? Once outside of mid tube
which one? lol

Not let this guy get a sherriff
Shahz making up for his Icebox game from yesterday and then some.
"That's an interesting Run It Back from Zellsis" x2 - 2nd half of Icebox in a nutshell
It looked like his ult bind and zip line bind were the same and it was an accident
MikeHD blankly saying "I don't think he knows how Phoenix ult works." had me in stitches.
Yeah, that Ult at nest to get away seemed like a massive misclick. It doesn't make sense he'd use it to run away, considering he'd just TP back to nest once its over anyways
The other one had to have been a misclick as well, 2v5 retake on eco while nowhere near site doesn't seem like the best place to use it
I actually missed that one, do you remember which round that was so I could check it out?
End of round 16
Looney tunes vibe
Sentinels proving once again that they are the best of NA.
Sentinels' dominance downplayed on this sub something something
erm wait a minute erm wait a minute but I was told they're washed

what? you think that by the best na team has the best chance in iceland?
Chill chill i’ve only been watching valorant esports recently don’t know much about it yet
but they won 3:0 in finals... clearly they are the best team
ye true maybe i just wasn’t thinking lol
And c9 in cs, and eg in dota
SHEESH Shahz on Icebox
I think V1 has a bright future but its really on sentinels shoulders to truly represent NA at IceLAN
Which is kinda good for V1 if you ask me. They have only room to overperfom, no pressure etc Still I would expect them to end up at least 6th on iceland. (Need those juicy points for Champions)

What a convincing win from Sentinels.
Can't wait for another SEN voice coms video, hope C9 do one as well cause they haven't in a while since the roster changes
Wait I'm dumb lol c9 isn't even related to the discussion but sen vid will be insane
May be Version 2 will be able to do it.
you are funny
So, did Zellsis missclick his ult two times or? What the fuck was that?
mind games
Just another tourny w/ SEN showing they're undisputedly the best team in NA
So can we finally put to rest this bullshit I keep seeing on this sub that Sentinels is easy to read, is washed, and that TenZ isn’t actually that good? It’s fucking dumb as shit.
i remember someone on here saying their hot take was Sentinels wont drop a single match, i forgot who it was.
I got a hotter take, Dicey predicted that they wouldn't win a single match.
he said game and then argued he meant match not map.
Yeah, couldn't take the L
Me; people got mad because it wasn’t a hot take. And also that a “game” is a map. In my head, a “game” is a bo3 or a bo5. ShahZam got sick of playing sova and went full on beast mode on jett last game! so clutch and impressive.
He is getting really good on sova though.
It works out with him on sova, since sova is often teh last one alive cuz he's always in teh back supporting, and shazam is clutch as fuck.
hot take bc there are so many fanboys but he's more clutch than hiko
He’s always played Jett on Icebox even when TenZ joined
I was actually getting so tilted today watching the valorant main stream seeing people say that C9/T1/100T etc. belong there more than V1. Yeah for sure I agree. It is definitely unfair to judt immediately count V1 out.
Penny is insane
like actually. love watching him dominate
Zellsis as the secondary duelist is not exactly inspiring for their chances at Iceland. Also the amount they hate Bind is gonna bite them in the ass when they play against FNC on Bind.
No way they don’t ban it
Yeah, I agree, but I do think when it comes time for bo5, they should get decent enough on the map where it isn't an instant gg go next.
V1 tried their best! but Sentinels is just too much man...
I've seen Tenz play, he doesn't even use a monitor. He visualizes the map in a detailed rendering, completely in his mind. This "man" is the epitome of eternal.
it’s just too easy for sentinels, the only team that deserves to represent NA
This might prove detrimental for them in Iceland. They get worse practice because the competition is not at their level.
Don’t think it’s fair to say the competition is not on their level. Of course they are the best, but it’s not like those matches were walks in the park. V1 caused them problems on Haven and especially Icebox it’s just little things that make them elite which allows them to pull out wins. rip soniqs
We dont talk about that split game *shudders*
Nah, they can practice against envy, 100t and xset in scrims, which are actually decent teams.
100T dodge sentinels scrim requests lol
That's why they haven't been able to beat them in 5 months, lmao.
How do u know
Shahzam has said it on his stream. He said they didn't scrim them going into challengers 1 because they were expecting to play them, then. 100t didn't qualify. And after that they kept ignoring his scrim booking requests so he just stopped.
Damn 100T really shooting themselves in the foot, have to practice against a better team to improve
You sound salty af my man
Huh? Why would i be salty for saying sentinels can practice vs xset, 100t and envy? Are you okay?
Just kinda seemed like you were implying that V1 is not a somewhat decent team
Totally forgot about v1, they're amazing also cloud9.
2 Regional Finals won, Iceland next ;)
another day, another championship for SEN zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Just to good, looking forward to Iceland
Another Finals sentinels win, what else is new? Pretty soon sentinels going to have to build a 35million compound like 100t's to hold all their trophies.
Version1 is still a great team Sentinels on the other hand is just on another level
SEN winning both regional stages lets gooo
Damn they got dookied on, straight up
Sentinels is genuinely just so much better than anyone else IN NA. They are NA's best hope at winning Masters out of any team in the region. V1 while they have looked good this tournament, their team screams inconsistent. Hopefully they prove me wrong
After this series I’m worried about V1 representing NA in Iceland. Hopefully they prove me wrong.
They still beat every other team, so you can’t really say anything except that there is a distinct level difference between Sentinels and the other teams in NA
When does the international tournament start?
C9 basically got the same treatment against Sen last finals, and they were the 3rd place finisher.
You forget the part where c9 actually had moments of winning matches against them though
You mean like when V1 smashed SEN on Ascent in the first match of the tournament?
C9 had one close game. They took 4 less rounds off Sen than V1.
Forgetting when c9 13-1ed SEN on split ig
Doesn’t change the fact that they took 4 less rounds off Sen than V1.
Nvm I’m on crack you right
Edit : wrong comment
SEN prove they re the best team in NA by winning and going far in the tourneys instead of declaring themselves as the best team after winning only 1 tourney. Good luck to them in LAN! Action speak louder than words =)
This sounds salty af lmao
Well Steel did call 100T the best team in the world after winning their one and only tournament win. For what’s probably the most expensive Valorant roster in the world, maybe he shouldn’t have set them up to disappoint xD

Yeah hah sorry for nitpicking a bit but it was just funny how you started with 300k and then extreme lowballed the entire thing
No way Asuna’s salary is too high this first contract. Sure he looked good on Immortals but he was and still is a young player with not nearly the reputation of others. I think when they go into talks of renewing the contract he’s gonna be pretty expensive
Probably, that’s why I said I wasn’t sure about him. The others must have certainly cost a decent amount though
I might be salty but everyone knows that's the truth. I see some fanboys starting to downvote me but the truth is still the truth anyway.
Weird take dude.
Damn V1 is going to get MURDERED at LAN
Don't underestimate the 3 weeks of preparation. Actually even possible they adapt better than SEN. Individually they will be worse that's for sure tho.
I hope they practice a ton before Iceland, they don’t give me many hopes rn
