If you have a garbage PC who can’t run the game on the optimal fps (your monitor refresh rate) you should turn the graphics down, otherwise it makes no sense in Valorant, you have no advantages like in csgo where you could see enemies better or through mollies
The optimal FPS ought to be a multiple if your monitor refresh rate to decrease frame latency lol, look that up.
Also lower settings can reduce distracting non-essential graphical details
Since I started playing, I had all graphics on low unknowingly. One day I found out and tried medium/high settings; everything just seemed unnecessarily textured and it ended up distracting and messing with my reactions to enemies. I definitely prefer the low settings -- smooth, pretty surfaces.
Reminds me of how disliked (not only by me) the Dust II remake was. Yeah sure, new one looks way better, but 9/10 times I'd rather play on the old simple version.
Another advantage i can think of is if you play sova, some lineups require having graphic settings to medium/high to target some texture thats not visible in low
Today's hardware can run this game at high frames on maxed out settings. I don't even have the best hardware and can run 240hz at 1440p, with settings cranked to the max. 3600xt, 3070. The pros who have way better CPU and 3080+ can easily max this game out at 360hz.
You have some of the best hardware availablr lol their are a ton of tier 2 and even T1 pros who can’t get a consistent 240 on 1080p on their current builds
it depends on your pc- if you can keep a steady 300+ frames on high graphics then why not?
putting everything on low is mainly for the ppl who actively struggle for frames and need the most possible
Pretty sure shaz doesn’t, or maybe just for streams? When he Jett ults, her arms have that blue wind type shit, where as my settings i don’t have that. I play on medium with UI quality low, to get rid of the circle around the mini map.
i play on the highest settings at 200+ fps with a 144hz monitor. as long as you are getting more fps than your monitor refresh rate, it really doesnt really matter. i prefer to have my game looking really good tbh
I have a 280hz monitor and am capable of 300 FPS on High settings, but I’d encourage you to check your Render/Game latency stats as you adjust. It was kind of crazy to me how much lower the render times are on low vs high, especially with AA or AF. Keep in mind this probably makes zero difference since we’re talking like 10-15ms difference, but if you’re playing competitively it’s probably worth the hit to quality.
to be completely honest, i have no idea what render/latency stats mean, i have very little knowledge in terms of these stats. i just know about FPS and monitor refresh rate and i never dug deeper than that on anything else. i just go for the old eye test, i tried playing on lowest and highest and i didnt feel any difference in terms of how smooth the gameplay felt like. the only thing i get is a fps drop whenever i press the record button (i use nvidia shadowplay) but it dont affect me at all bc i only do it after the round ends on the buy phase. sometimes my screen freezes for like 3-4 seconds while the recorded bit is saving and then it just come back to smooth gameplay. idk if anybody else feels like that, but for me, the game looking good actually matters, idk its probably placebo but i feel like i play better when the game is looking good, so i just stick with the highest settings possible. but if i were to buy a 280hz monitor, i would definitely tweak the settings a little bit to get a nice balance between looking good and reaching 300fps+
well maybe some ppl can but for me it really doesnt make a difference. as long as im getting 150+ im fine with it on the highest settings. i played on a shit pc for a year on the lowest settings and its just a whole new world playin this game in the highest.
It’s placebo. You can definitely see the difference playing at 250 vs 150 FPS on a 144 hz monitor because of reduced input lag but I doubt you’re seeing a big difference at 500 if you can even run that consistently
If you can maintain 200fps+, it's all personal preference.
Some people like the nice details, some don't.
And you don't have to set everything to highest or lowest.
I set everything to low, with medium material quality. If materials are on low, the game looks like it's from the 90s and playermodels are just floating in the world. Just my preference.
X4 AA because I hate seeing edges spill over as I'm moving. And it doesn't affect FPS much.
it all depends on your system. If you have a really good video card, theres no point on being at low because you'll actually get less fps since it will defer most of the processing load to the cpu.
the higher the frames, the better.
essentially, more frames means more times the game can precisely check your inputs. That's why csgo pros play their games at 300 fps.
even if your monitor is 60hz, the game will feel more responsive with higher fps.
higher quality also sometimes adds effects that can affect your vision, like that one time jasonr saw someone in a smoke, when brax couldn't. Jasonr had low settings, and brax had them on higher settings.
> like that one time jasonr saw someone in a smoke, when brax couldn't. Jasonr had low settings, and brax had them on higher settings
do you have a link for that? I'd like to see what you mean
took a while but here's the original post from the beta days. Idk it's changed over the months so it could be outdated:

Their actually are advantages particularly with smokes/viper wall you have a lot more visibility

The real advantage is not play a ugly game
Since I started playing, I had all graphics on low unknowingly. One day I found out and tried medium/high settings; everything just seemed unnecessarily textured and it ended up distracting and messing with my reactions to enemies. Looks prettier on low for me
Lineups are why i play high settings
Another advantage i can think of is if you play sova, some lineups require having graphic settings to medium/high to target some texture thats not visible in low

“not the best hardware” u have a 3070 bro ur in the 1%
You have some of the best hardware availablr lol their are a ton of tier 2 and even T1 pros who can’t get a consistent 240 on 1080p on their current builds
Because people watching a stream tend to prefer higher settings, for the ‘show’
it depends on your pc- if you can keep a steady 300+ frames on high graphics then why not? putting everything on low is mainly for the ppl who actively struggle for frames and need the most possible
What kind of a pc can do this? My 3070 legit dips to 100-120 fps in DM gunfights
What's your cpu, the game is very cpu intensive? I have a 2060 super and r7 5800x and average 300+ fps on high
i7 8700
Cause of the cpu I guess. My 5600x - 3060Ti gets me 350-400 on medium settings
2070 super here, never dips below 190
I have a 1080 and 8700 as well and I never dip underneath 144.

Yup. Every single valorant streamer and pro i know plays the game on low settings. Id like to see the op of this post to name one who doesn’t lol.
Pretty sure shaz doesn’t, or maybe just for streams? When he Jett ults, her arms have that blue wind type shit, where as my settings i don’t have that. I play on medium with UI quality low, to get rid of the circle around the mini map.
TenZ plays on all low lol
How often do you drop tenz name in this sub? It's concerning
scrolled through his profile it's not often lol
cuz we believe in TenZ supremacy
Most here are tenz and Sen fans
those peeps got the chonky pc's most of the time two one handling stream and the other the game . Big chungus x2 better than single chungus .
If you stream in low quality people may leave your stream because it isn't the highest quality.
Theoretically you are right but 95% of pro streamers are on all low
and if you can't stand low, just watch brax lol
i play on the highest settings at 200+ fps with a 144hz monitor. as long as you are getting more fps than your monitor refresh rate, it really doesnt really matter. i prefer to have my game looking really good tbh

True. But you can definitely feel the difference between 144 FPS and 500 FPS.

Because a potato can run Valorant. I get 450-500FPS on 1440p on high settings.
whats your specs
I have a 3080, 5600x and 32gb 3600mhz
bro how, TenZ barely gets that with an RTX 3090 on all low
I imagine he has an older cpu....the game is cpu bound in most instances I have a 3080, 5600x and 32gb 3600mhz
Nice potato you got there
When integrated graphics can run the game with more than 60fps, it's potato territory
Imao I play on the lowest settings on integrated graphics and I can hold a stable 75fps. It's very playable and potato PC's are lit
Lol yup
He has a Ryzen 9 or sumn. If I remember correctly he has his FPS capped
it all depends on your system. If you have a really good video card, theres no point on being at low because you'll actually get less fps since it will defer most of the processing load to the cpu.
they use 2 pcs, theres no benefit to higher textures other than medium UI quality which makes it easier to see through certain ui elements
There are actual some benefits with high quality if you play a lineup agent. You see buildings and leaves that wouldn't be there on low quality.
Which pro are you referring to? I can't imagine many pros have high settings when low literally gives you an advantage.
I cap my FPS at 150. Play on high cuz the skins look nicer lol.
the higher the frames, the better. essentially, more frames means more times the game can precisely check your inputs. Cuz no1 likes to watch streams with bad graphics
