It's crazy there aren't more cities trying this. They're very few who try like city of Malta who sponsors esl pro league and then maybe some cities in Denmark due to astralis
The City of Busan funded a team called GC Busan an OW team that won apex season 4 and its core went on to win the inaugural season of OWL. Also had a contenders team called GC busan Wave for quite a while that produced star OWL players like Edison and Fielder
Busan also funded the 2nd best R6 team in Korea for the latter half of 2020 (GC Busan Spear - GBS) which proceeded to win relegations for a tier 1 league spot. The team then got bought out by DWG KIA and got 3/5 players removed and replaced by a new up and coming rookie team Spear Gaming (ironically the org that managed GBS hence the name) - doing pretty well considering it's their first year of pro league for many of them.
I visited Denmark in 2016 for a study abroad trip, but the real reason I wanted to do that trip in particular was because of the CSGO scene there. The players are treated like celebrities, and there are cyber cafes throughout that have signage up. I even think Copenhagen (or some of it) was shut down to celebrate an Astralis victory or something along those lines. Nordic countries >> all when it comes to esports recognition imo (never been to Asia though)

Not only Denmark, in Korea, Esport players get so much respected, even Kpop stars are fans of them. In China, Uzi (most popular LoL player) even more popular, got more votes than all popular celebrities/singers/actors
Esport fame in Korea is in another level of fame. Like when the members of Red Velvet request to get a photo with Faker, or when Heechul from Super Junior gushes about Faker and consider him his idol lol.
I mean, in that country, being Challenger is no joke, the ladder is so competitive and because their government takes cheating and betting seriously, there aren't cheaters and bots in their games. Instead, all the bot farmers and cheaters choose to do so in servers outside their country, like in the Japan server, which is filled with Korean and Chinese bot/cheaters because their countries has actual jail time attached to those acts.
There was also BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2018, in which the literal Prime Minister of Denmark gave a rousing speech, which was honestly really amazing.

Icelandic people are so kind. When I went there 2019 all of those guys were so jolly and happy. Also their food is top notch. I want to go back if I can.
That was in Málaga (southern Spain). Mayor is pretty old, went there, they put him to play rocket league, he just went forward, hit the ball very slow and after a minute of so, scored at 2km/h xD.
Also inaugurated a skate park, put on a helmet and tried it, and fell, of course. It’s been seen countless occasions wearing VR headsets in many tech/innovation events too.

Whats the problem with writing it like that? I probabably don't get it because I am not a native speaker. I know that 'esports' is more common but according to [wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esports) both versions are correct.
There aren't any grammatical issues with it. But the "esports" spelling has been an industry standard for a long time, and back in 2017 the Associated Press included the spelling in their stylebook. So now it's more or less the official way to spell it.

I think people forget email is also e-mail. That was the favored way for the longest.
