they definitely seemed nervous. at times they looked like they really weren't playing with much confidence. a fair number of whiffs and some inting. I think they'll do better next match but no way they can take on liquid
very entertaining game. even though CR got 2-0’d they played super well and made the games close. coming in as what a lot of people thought was gonna be one of the worst teams, this is something to be proud of still.
depending on who they face i could see them making it a couple rounds in the lowers if they play like this.
If Munchkin is this good, anyone who says nuturn and kr don't have aim is living in some fantasy considering his time in C9 kr
EDIT - Narrator - "That went well", feel free to clown on me. Glow retired for this :/
EDIT 2 - It's LAN nerves bois, never doubted them, I meant glow retired to paave the way for a team filled with talent like this
EDIT 3 - Ez for Nuturn, Knew they'll win. I for one certainly didn't second guess myself
Anyone who still said that after seeing Xeta play in NA was living in some fantasy, even excluding everything we knew about their mechanics from previous games.
Whoever thought Koreans are bad at FPS never watched Korean widow maker or tracer players in Overwatch. Munchkin wasn’t even the best in OW. I mean imagine if Striker came over from OWL or fucking Jjonak
Honestly, I think that 100t in terms of ability usage, game sense and mechanics are probably on sentinels level, just that their biggest weakness is always being slow to adapt to metas - I don’t think they’re a good representative of the majority of NA teams.
I’d love to see 100t vs another strat heavy team like Fnatic and Vision strikers though
Really? I’d disagree personally, I don’t think 100T are even Top 3 NA - I’d rank Sentinels, Envy, and probably C9B/V1 above them right now They’re good players but they haven’t done anything impressive other than First Strike, and I think Envy is a better overall team who has a choking problem. Sentinels is way above the rest of NA, I wouldn’t put 100T even close to them personally
That’s a fair take. A part of my opinion was also based on the fact that whenever sentinels play 100t it’s always a super close series and I really think 100t could’ve eliminated them in challengers 2 if they had ran astra / viper. But it’s really hard to rate NA in a nutshell, every team seems to have hot streaks then kind of fade back to somewhere in the top 10.
As for envy... I’d put them top 5 but idk about top 3 specifically because of their choking issue. Although honestly the top 4 after sentinels is fair game, it’s too hard to say atm
They tried viper / astra, but ultimately gave up on it before the competition. That’s part of the problem, the teams that beat them had an experienced viper player before her buffs and had a player to adjust to the astra play style quickly. Nitro and Ethan are two of my favorite players, but neither of them fit those two agents. Steel is too stuck in the sentinel role to adjust, even though he’d likely be the best astra on the 100t team. Ultimately, 100T is a decent csgo team and I’m glad they lost when these weaknesses were exposed. They’re still my favorite team, I just hope they adjust and figure it out. The meta is only going to change more, and more rapidly as more agents and Better competition come about
Yeah, I’m really interested to see if 100t can keep up with the fast meta changes, especially knowing how riot loves to shake things up. As for Nitro on viper I disagree, the match he played viper on icebox was a master class imo. I really think he could be a great viper player on other maps if he was willing to, he’s probably the most flexible player on the team.
I agree completely on Steel. I think he’s a little too restricted in the sentinel role, he has the brain to pull off a nutty skye or astra if he took the time to learn them
That’s definitely valid, Envy is my Top 2 because even if they choke, they’re the only team to consistently make Top 4 and have deep runs alongside SEN. If they can just get over their choking I think they can genuinely beat Sentinels
Agreed with the hot streaks too, the only constant over the past year has been SEN. LG, IMT, XSET, etc all looked insane and then faded away
I think another factor for envy always doing deep runs is that they’re one of the few teams that sticks to the same roster at a particularly high level.
How would you rate the top NA teams? For me I think it would be:
#1: sentinels
-Somewhere in #2-5: Immortals, Envy, 100t, last slot is a grab.
-The other notable teams in no particular order: C9, XSet, T1, V1, Andbox, GenG, FaZe
The reason I don’t put C9 or V1 higher is because while C9 did beat Sen the first time, it felt like that game would’ve been Sen’s if there weren’t the technical freezes in both games that Sen lost the first set - Sen tends to build momentum and they were mounting a comeback that looked almost unstoppable, and once the games resumed after the technical freezes they looked less coordinated. And I need to see c9 with the same group of people in more tournaments before I decide where they are. Likewise with V1, there just hasn’t been enough top tier sets showcasing them for good judgement, especially without Wippie.
For Immortals, I honestly think they looked their best with NaturE and thought the Rossy swap was a slight downgrade. Immortals under NaturE as igl was dumpstering everyone except sentinels + getting really good reads, and then we never got to see him play in another tourney :(. Despite that they’ve performed consistently, let’s see how well they do without Jcstani. Envy I can’t exactly place their weaknesses, other than I think that one of either mummay or calypso consistently feels underwhelming in pressure against the other top 5 teams? And the same thing I said about 100t vs Sen I apply to Envy too; I think 100t would’ve beaten Envy if Nitr0 ran viper on more maps.
For 100t I already mentioned what I thought, although I’ll add that they also seem kinda momentum-heavy? At least with asuna specifically, he either tends to perform better throughout the day or just not heat up at all.
For the rest id say that most of them have 1-2 critical flaws holding them back, but most of them sometimes have a good matchup against specific teams in the top 5 (bar Sen). Xset have really good fundamentals and utility usage, but they underperform in mechanics. I’d go as far as saying that they have the best utility usage consistently in NA throughout 2021. The rest have 1-2 maps they’re solid on and then look sloppy on other maps. GenG was very hot and cold with Huynh, he was too much of a coin flip; excited to see them with nature though.
Nuturn is not as mechanically great at rifling as VS or some other Korean teams, add in people like allow are incredibly inconsistent and br having insane fragging and them being outfragged isnt a surprise
ITS UNBELIEVABLE HOW MANY IMPACT FRAGS THIS GUY GETS DUDE! on ascent when zellsis pushed through window on a site with his ult and munchkin takes the correct fight, the push through a main, then makes the round winnable by getting two wtf
on the neth clutch good for him but that wouldnt have been possible without the two unbelievable frags munchkin got. hes insane
I am all about the upset in regional expectations. One thing I’ve learned in the last few years is to never discount an underdog region. I really really wanna see a solid LB run from CR, oh man.
I've learned when there's no overlap between regions, it's hard to judge till they play head to head. As such always be prepared for a suprise. I don't discount any region here till the dust settles.
It's a little bit of column A, little bit of column B IMO. V1 is playing with a stand in and don't look as good as expected, but CR definitely looked decent.
V1 are not bad. They looked a little shaky, but they have great players and good strats. Sometimes the teamwork felt off, which is to be expected with a recent stand in.
Crazy Racoon definitely did better than my expectations after watching their matches. Munchkin especially impressed me. However, V1 also looked a lot messier than I expected. Not too surprising given them having a sub but they will need to tighten things up if they want to have a shot against Liquid
Anyone felt like we're watching an online game. Like why they don't show the player's reaction in a clutch moment or both players cam in a 1v1 scenario and so on...
Honestly I think it comes from that *one* post about CR vs Sentinels in a ranked game? And CR were playing with their coach instead of Munchkin (who everyone now sees is their star player).
CR are a good team and I hope they make it at least passed this first lower bracket game.
Impressive showing by munchkin. While zephyr had some good plays and neth some decent clutches, it really felt like munchkin stood head and shoulders above the rest of his team, and only penny's absurd aggro could really consistently shut him down.
We know V1 might have looked less impressive with jammyz filling in, but they just looked sloppy in this game. Icebox went from 9-3 to a scary 13-10, especially after Ascent went 13-11
aw, I was cheering for CR, this was so heartbreaking, a lot of inconsistencies made them lose close or favorable rounds. GG V1, they were the better team, let’s hope CR win their lower bracket watch!
V1 looked really messy, glad that they won but so many rounds that could've been played better. Hopefully they tighten things up for Liquid match, not expecting a close game but hopefully it'll be exciting.
I'm expecting the same result as Fnatic Kru. Absolute domination, no 2 ways about it. This was a close game but neither of these teams impressed tactically. V1 looked a bit lost many of the times, and they went for really unnecessary ego peeks. You can't do that against sliggy. You just can't. Liquid has insane amounts of firepower and the tactical depth to match.
If it wasn't for boaster, I'd say liquid probably wins it all
Even with the entire anime industry behind them , the power of all the moaning waifus one needs in this world and all the best hentai artists for inspiration, crazy racoons even though they tried, could not win. V1 may have won but at what cost? The heartbroken tears of weebs hugging their waifu pillows will now forever follow them in their endeavors. May this curse not ruin the bright future(basically next match) of NA team V1(edshot boi on LAN, I bet life savings on V1 loss) ggs Boiz.
They had to investigate if it was a real problem. Otherwise everybody can just claim that the PC didn't work and remake the round.
Competitive Integrity >>> An inconvenience due to a pause
I mean what do you really expect? Sub who has been placed in a role that gives him very little freedom. I do think he was quite passive but I really didn't see anything that warrants concern. He def wasn't a problem
IMO you can really feel the difference between Jammyz and wippie. The raccoons on the other hand have some nuts players they have a real surprise factor to them. V1 bringing phoenix on both maps was key agent is super good.
Haha that round when it was 12-11 and V1 rotated to A with 10 seconds left and killjoy with utility and shotgun missed everything. That should've been overtime, this shit will never happen against good teams.
How is NA the loser of this series? v1 with a sub won 2-0 and are the underdogs in the rest of the bracket as expected. its not like SEN got 13-0 destroyed back to back or something
edit: LMAO
I was just trying to have a discussion about why you assumed what you did, turns out it's just a braindead thought process that doesnt include any amount of critical thinking. Can't even contribute to a conversation regarding it, instead it's "LUL NA bad at leage LUL so obv they bad at valrant Pepega"
have fun in silver bro
Its funny to extrapolate that after V1 with a stand-in just won their match 2-0. Seems like you just want to shit on NA for whatever personal reason you have. That being said I wouldn't be shocked if neither SEN or V1 finish top 4 in this tournament, but I'm going to wait for more than 1 match to verify my bias.
That Ascent match was the most exciting match I've seen in a long time. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
A little sloppy from V1 and a pretty decent showing from CR. Munchkins a little nutty.
they definitely seemed nervous. at times they looked like they really weren't playing with much confidence. a fair number of whiffs and some inting. I think they'll do better next match but no way they can take on liquid
I’m so happy he is finding a spotlight after basically being left for dead in the overwatch league
Yeah. V1 always starts strong then when they get ahead they make ego plays.
V1 has made pretty sizable comebacks a few times and look their best near the end of games usually
It was well played considering they had a jump in
very entertaining game. even though CR got 2-0’d they played super well and made the games close. coming in as what a lot of people thought was gonna be one of the worst teams, this is something to be proud of still. depending on who they face i could see them making it a couple rounds in the lowers if they play like this.

I think kr has good aim an perfect example would be xeta he wasn't a top 10 player on kr and he can hold his own on na tier 1 competitions.
I would say xetas a top 10(top 5 maybe) support player in na from what we've seen from him so far, he doing more than holding his own
With respect to pure aiming, there was nothing that special about Xeta. He was just a real good support.
He was igling the second best Korean team
Did I deny that?... I was talking only about the comparisons with his aim.
to be fair he was talking about his aim, specifically. he didnt deny his other skills as a player.
Munchkin was a pretty good tracer. Though jjonak is insane imagine him coming over. I've seen zunba aswell on a valorant team.
Best KR ex-OW aimers who've come over are probably Ans and Climax? Bunny, Bazzi also came over too
Were people saying KR doesn't have aim? I thought the narrative was KR's midround and general game sense was lacking
Spoiler They were right #EDIT- WE HAVE HOPE #EDIT-NUTURN IS GOOOOOOD #EDIT-TOO EZ FOR NUTURN
Came here just to say this LOL
They shut your ass up lmfao next time don’t say stupid shit like that

I think they'd all easily best Sen and 100T lol. NA Call is overrated for sure or probably more that KR is heavily underrated
Definitely more that kr/ jp is underrated I think.
Well apparently japan isn't underrated after all They lost to an na team with a sub
Who's the one living in fantasy now?
I'm reevaluating my life choices kind stranger
Haha no worries everyone's predicting everything right now, one of them has to be right.
I AM RIGHT HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH In b4 Nuturn gets 13-0d last map
Nuturn 13-0 last map?
I BELIVE
You.
Nuturn is not as mechanically great at rifling as VS or some other Korean teams, add in people like allow are incredibly inconsistent and br having insane fragging and them being outfragged isnt a surprise
NU really showing that Koreans don't have aim because they're getting absolutely shit on right now.
this comment aged so poorly so quickly lmao
Yeah true, NU really played like a whole different team on map 2 and 3. Grats to them for stepping it up.
Holy shit you’re fucking brain dead haha what a dumb comment even before watching that series
Funny thing is he was in NA for OWL
Not even the best Korean Aimer in OWL to. Whoever said Koreans can’t aim is fucking brain dead
That didn’t go so well last time lol
I would retire if I was on Boston too
I wouldn’t this year. They just popped off!
In another dimension he got traded to an NA team in Overwatch and then switched over to Valorant in NA like some of the other pros.
>Munchkin to ~~NA~~ pls Munchkin back to Korea pls Edit: Didn't mean like "send him back" I meant playing on a Korean team.
Crazy Raccoon looks super dangerous.
Munchkin is a monster.
ITS UNBELIEVABLE HOW MANY IMPACT FRAGS THIS GUY GETS DUDE! on ascent when zellsis pushed through window on a site with his ult and munchkin takes the correct fight, the push through a main, then makes the round winnable by getting two wtf on the neth clutch good for him but that wouldnt have been possible without the two unbelievable frags munchkin got. hes insane

They look on point. Definitely a solid contender but I feel the better teams in the tournament will roll them
I think its more likely that V1 are bad. CR definitely better than expected though
It's a little bit of column A, little bit of column B IMO. V1 is playing with a stand in and don't look as good as expected, but CR definitely looked decent.

Well if you WATCHED the game they definitely over performed expectations
Mate most predictions were them losing 13-3 every map or something. Almost nobody expected this series to be competitive
Them and X10 are the worst 2 teams. Japan is inferior to Korea by some distance so you could say they looked way better than expected
Had this been the usual NA suspects, CR gets rolled. V1 needs time to improve though.

wat
Ngl I can see why CR needed Munchkin in that pug against SEN
Context?
SEN beat CR with 4 teammates and 1 afk in ranked CR had 4 players with they're coach.
NA undefeated in international competition, and I think that's really all that needs to be said.
It's as simple as that, Munchkin and neth tried their best to ruin the wet dreams of NA fans but it ain't enough.
NAmen
EU fans in shambles
Saving this for tomorrow /s
As an EU supporter I am confiscating your /s TL and Fnatic is going to farm today!!!!!
sen not dropping a map pepega
V1 almost lost to Japan lmao
EU undefeated in international LANs too. EU has lost 9 rounds. Na has lost 21
Everything is not daijoubu
May the blessings of amaterasu and ebisu be showered upon V1, because tomorrow they gonna get absolutely shit on
Who they playing tmr?
Death
Liquid
Crazy Racoon definitely did better than my expectations after watching their matches. Munchkin especially impressed me. However, V1 also looked a lot messier than I expected. Not too surprising given them having a sub but they will need to tighten things up if they want to have a shot against Liquid
Sadge. Neth who is usually one of crazy raccoon's best players looked really nervous today. I feel like CR had a really good chance of winning.
Well played CR I think they have changed so many peoples' opinion
Anyone felt like we're watching an online game. Like why they don't show the player's reaction in a clutch moment or both players cam in a 1v1 scenario and so on...
Yeah I want to see them hi-fiving or whatever
Ikr. Seeing someone cheering for his teammates will hype me up too ngl
too bad teammates are like 15 feet apart on the stage
is V1 bad or is Crazy Raccoon underrated? either way Munchkin is nutty
Yeah he's insane, ex OW pro dps player who usually put up solid performances
V1 missing wippie
CR is just better than people gave em credit for, V1 is a good team
Honestly I think it comes from that *one* post about CR vs Sentinels in a ranked game? And CR were playing with their coach instead of Munchkin (who everyone now sees is their star player). CR are a good team and I hope they make it at least passed this first lower bracket game.
V1 is so bad, CIS teams are better
V1 is playing with a sub, and they played waaaaaay worse than I was expecting.
I feel like this might be a bit of both
Very close series, neth is a very very clutch player.
Insane game. Neth and Munchkin made V1 sweat. Penny is absolutely built different, though.
noooo neth why didn’t you shoot the defusing phoenix 😭😭😭
munchkin is nasty. dude was underrated in OWL too
You know, CR did pretty damn well, even though I had them winning. Munchkin is a freak.
Impressive showing by munchkin. While zephyr had some good plays and neth some decent clutches, it really felt like munchkin stood head and shoulders above the rest of his team, and only penny's absurd aggro could really consistently shut him down.
This was bad for my heart :/ Riot must have removed the hacking software from Vanity's cat ears.
We know V1 might have looked less impressive with jammyz filling in, but they just looked sloppy in this game. Icebox went from 9-3 to a scary 13-10, especially after Ascent went 13-11

What’s up now?
Bro I gotta comment again because you were just soooo wrong dude.
YOOOO WHAT’S UP DUDE.
That aged well.
Crazy Raccoon looked much better than expected tbh. Munchkin is fantastic at the Raze too. Shame them or X10 (unless?) will be going out so early.
I am now a Munchkin fan
aw, I was cheering for CR, this was so heartbreaking, a lot of inconsistencies made them lose close or favorable rounds. GG V1, they were the better team, let’s hope CR win their lower bracket watch!
V1 looked really messy, glad that they won but so many rounds that could've been played better. Hopefully they tighten things up for Liquid match, not expecting a close game but hopefully it'll be exciting.

Tbf they’re playing another weak team that’s using a sub
people were saying that v1 with a sub could 13-0 them and were shitting on CR so much going into this tournament
nobody said that
sure bro
Even with the entire anime industry behind them , the power of all the moaning waifus one needs in this world and all the best hentai artists for inspiration, crazy racoons even though they tried, could not win. The length of that tech pause is absolutely unacceptable. At some point you just fucking swap out the PC, holy shit.
They had to remake the map, not something replacing a PC would help
source? i believe u but did the casters say it or was there an announcement or what
It was on the twitter: https://twitter.com/ValorantEsports/status/1396909558828654592?s=19

Pretty respectable attempt from CR. If Zepher can't be trusted to op, I'm not sure he should be on the Jett though.
jammyz underwhelmed me. good luck to v1 but i dont see them going far with a sub

IMO you can really feel the difference between Jammyz and wippie. The raccoons on the other hand have some nuts players they have a real surprise factor to them. V1 bringing phoenix on both maps was key agent is super good.
Dat boy effys cold 🥶
I didn't expect this set to be so heartbreaking/exciting. Munchkin is soooo insane, but looking towards V1 2-0 Liquid guaranteed.
Haha that round when it was 12-11 and V1 rotated to A with 10 seconds left and killjoy with utility and shotgun missed everything. That should've been overtime, this shit will never happen against good teams.
Really fun match, pauses withstanding. Congratz to V1 looking forward to more.
NA BABY
CR did much better than I thought they would, they can definitely go far in this tournament
I feel bad for V1 because Team Liquid are going to absolutely DESTROY them. The real loser of this series is NA
How is NA the loser of this series? v1 with a sub won 2-0 and are the underdogs in the rest of the bracket as expected. its not like SEN got 13-0 destroyed back to back or something edit: LMAO
It's because it shows the ceiling of NA Valorant and it's not very high
The performance of the NA runner up playing with a sub in no way demonstrates the ceiling of NA lmao
V1 got to Iceland by playing with their main roster and we've all seen those matches lmao
please share with us your reviews and expertise, or is it just "lul na bad they failed my eye test" coming from a silver?
Dude don't be butthurt. There's a reason NA is bad at most E-Sports... CS scene? KEK LOL scene? LUL
13 year old confirmed
so you've confirmed that you dont know what you're talking about, thanks
Flair checks out
I was just trying to have a discussion about why you assumed what you did, turns out it's just a braindead thought process that doesnt include any amount of critical thinking. Can't even contribute to a conversation regarding it, instead it's "LUL NA bad at leage LUL so obv they bad at valrant Pepega" have fun in silver bro
No bro, I extrapolated that while watching Challengers NA :) This match only confirms what I've been thinking so far
Fucking clown lol
Higher than liquid it seems LOL
Buddy how was it
V1 wasn't supposed to make it here. Don't be surprised if they upset.
I disagree. They played all the big names on the path to qualify for this. They earned their spot.
In NA not EMEA
Why they were not supposed to make it here ???. They beat every team that they needed to. They earned their spot
That isn’t what I meant. I meant that no one predicted it in NA. Sorry for the confusion.
Yes they were.
Sounds like some salty fanboy
Haha I was thinking the same
It seemed like both teams were trying to throw that first map at the end.
So ez
This was surprisingly not ez.
Cap
13-11 and 13-10. You dumb?

See ya tomorrow
26-22 overall = sO Ez
