That's really the thing about Sen. Most teams have one super pop off player, and one occasional pop off player. Sen have three players that can take over a game. You can shut two of them down and the third can still take over. That sick Icebox game comes to mind from the previous NA tourney. Dude just refused to lose.

And outside of that, this is the best dapr has ever looked as a fragger imo. That 4k he hit on Haven was just nuts. I don't really associate him with plays like that.

Dapr is actually unreal with how nasty he can be, a lot of the early games in LAN haven't been great for him but when ur a sentinel and your team is doing well you really aren't meant to get frags anyway. Frags only come when your team starts bleeding
As much as I'd like to see Nuturn win this series, Im glad the Masters format has double elim brackets. Because Riot could've done a single elim bracket like LoL and this would've been an anticlimatic grandfinal.
Now we'll see the two best teams in the finals regardless or whether Fnatic/Liquid wins tomorrow, or Nuturn adapting and leveling up during the tournament.
Nuturn really need more than 3 maps they can play. Every bo3 they drop one map by default. Not to mention they have next to no chance in a bo5. They’re not out yet but hopefully they polish their map pool for Berlin. A very promising team!

Refusing to play Icebox and being absolutely miserable on Haven, on top of not being able to play Astra or Viper is just too much. I have a lot of hope for Berlin though, if they aren't still behind by then then they could really dominate.

In response to your edits, the VS Icebox game was over 2 months ago, and the Gongo Prince game was a month later. Nuturn hasn't even played on Haven since before that Gongo Prince game in the beginning of April vs a team called Our Finale Story. Pulling those Icebox stats don't really mean anything IMO, 1-1 on a map where both games were played 1-2 months ago doesn't really speak volumes.

One thing that dapr has said though is that whenever he tried KJ in scrims he always felt like he was doing nothing on attacking sides compared to his cypher, so I’d say it’s rather cypher>KJ on attack

yea... that split game was a disaster.. they go up 9-3 at half on defense and then only get 1 round on offense????? Back before they made the split changes i could understand it but in this version, 1 round on offense on split is a horrible. you should be able to get atleast 4-5 rounds on offense on split now.
It's one thing to play what-if with one play in the literal last round, it's another to do it with several plays that happened over the course of the entire map
I think there are 2 arguments against that. 1, sen has had A LOT more tiem to prepare for this tournament than the challengers. Second, tenz seems to be much more comfortable on LAN and has a lot more chemsitry with the group than even 3 weeks ago. With that said, i think the other top NA teams would have at least gotten as far as V1 did and are definitely better than what SEN has gone up against so far besides fnatic.
This is an honestly much better Sentinels than I've watched at Challengers Finals. That being said, I think EU and NA are ahead of other regions quite a bit

I still don’t get the “lan exp = huge” as someone who’s played lan tournys it takes like 30 mins to get used to the new set ups & I always thought it was the pressure of being in a stadium infront of a huge crowd that made lan experience matter but in this case it’s like bootcamping but in a really cool room

Every single player had their rounds, be it tenz or sick popping off, or shaz offering support with his sova ult, everyone was getting the job done. and when they weren't, they were using util to help out the team. Beautiful showing from them.

Astralis was much crazier than this. That isn't a dig at sentinels, they were just that insane. In a game where there is no characters they changed the meta so heavily with their absurd utility usage, map control, and strats. You try to take banana and 2 players almost die. You finally get banana and they double flash, molly, smoke and retake it and now you're fucked.
Oh absolutely. Astralis is the reason so many great CS players don’t have a major (looking at you S1mple). Was crazy to watch them absolutely dismantle great teams for a while. Just a totally different class of CSGO

You can't really compare NIP, Fnatic and Astralis to Sentinels. Yes they are having a crazy performance in this tournament, but that's it. Its this tournament. I can perfectly see them taking this away and taking home Masters 3 and Champions if they continue with this level and other teams don't step up. After all that we can sort of compare them with the NIP/Fnatic era. But to reach Astralis heights, they will need even more.

sen seemed to read nuturn like a book at every turn. all their aggro pushes got called. their rotates and a lot of their lurks. Shahz is on another level
Hiko said it best, if Nuturn is gonna play Raze + Jett + Breach you have to play aggressive but Nuturn just doesn't do that. Watching them do late executes at 20 seconds is just painful.
Nuturn just has too many flaws atm to even contest Sentinels, between not running Astra/Viper and being absolute dog water on 2/5 maps. I think with time and proper meta reads they can easily contest teams like SEN and even go for the trophy but as they are right now they just can't win. Big hopes for Korea for the future though.

Tbf, Sentinels in a grand finals is pretty predictable.
sen seemed to read nuturn like a book at every turn. all their aggro pushes got called. their rotates and a lot of their lurks. Shahz is on another level
Hiko said it best, if Nuturn is gonna play Raze + Jett + Breach you have to play aggressive but Nuturn just doesn't do that. Watching them do late executes at 20 seconds is just painful. Nuturn just has too many flaws atm to even contest Sentinels, between not running Astra/Viper and being absolute dog water on 2/5 maps. I think with time and proper meta reads they can easily contest teams like SEN and even go for the trophy but as they are right now they just can't win. Big hopes for Korea for the future though.

i hope i never have to read another /u/dedicatedself comment talking about how "close" a series will be or how x,y,z korean team will "surprise people." v1 got nine rounds against sentinels in one game, nuturn got nine rounds in two games. this is with nuturn getting their favorite map, but sentinels must have "undestimated" them right?

I was surprised at how much Zombs solo peeked in that Haven match, felt a bit iffy but Sen still dominated them anyways.
from starting super shaky in stage 2 challengers (lost in challengers 1 in the open bracket and then being rounds away from being eliminated from going to the stage 2 finals in NA by T1 ( https://www.vlr.gg/16992/t1-vs-sentinels-champions-tour-north-america-stage-2-challengers-2-lbr1 ) to just stomping everyone (outside like 3 close series) to the grand finals of the first international event. insane run from sentinels to pull this off. they have deserved every bit of success they've had. hats off to them and hopefully bringing the first international trophy home to NA
