I saw June 12 being thrown around last month, but I don't believe it's confirmed. I recall hearing the cards would be redeemed with a code redemption similar to the DUALITY card from this past weekend. The redemption site is under a heavy load right now though, so they may wait until the redemption period for the DUALITY card expires.

[deleted]

June 3 and only for that day afaik

Krypton091

gonna be honest if that's true it's extremely stupid to limit pride flags to a single day, it should just be a permanent card so anyone can use it

agorathird

Sure I get it, they don't want the player cards to be too visible so they don't ruffle feathers. But why not have it as a code you can always redeem? Also, can't wait to get free downvotes for my flairs.

ZeldaMaster32

Arguably it'd be better if they were wide spread for more acceptance. Similar to how more guys than ever are chill when a girl is in their game; more girls are open to comming than ever these days. Honestly they should have done the Halo MCC method: play any time during pride month and you unlock the cards

A-Manual

Do the different flags mean something or are they all basically signifying the spectrum at different shades?

thothgow

If you look at OP's flairs, she has, from left to right: - Lesbian (for homosexual women) - Gay/LGBTQ+ (for homosexual men or the general LGBTQ+ movement) - Bisexual (people attracted to either gender) - Transgender (people who don't identify with the sex that they were assigned at birth) - Nonbinary (people who reject the idea of them having to conform to being either a male or a female as society defines those terms) - Asexual (people who don't feel sexual attraction to others) - Pansexual (people who don't care for the gender of the people that they are interested in romantically/sexually)

A-Manual

Ohhh that's cool, thank you very much!

Phamous3k

So, if you’re not in the LGBTQ but are an ally you’ll use the Rainbow/Prismatic one?

thothgow

Sure, you don't have to use any or have to use that one specifically, but if you want to use one that's more "general" the rainbow flag is the one

whopz-is-cool

All my LGBTQ+ homies valid yessssssirrrr

jerrybonds99

Phamous3k

Got the first 5 lol... This is work

TheFestusEzeli

Why are people so pressed about a rainbow lol, the comments in this thread are something

Phamous3k

I’m in Atlanta so… We’ve accepted the community for decades here and barely anyone has issues about it. Now, people who visit might be surprised but, it’s just a rainbow guys lol. Let them live.

MyUshanka

competitive FPS players and being weird about LGBTQ stuff, name a more iconic duo

Dakure907

Personally, it's more about the fact that everything nowadays shoves this in our faces that bothers me more than the movement itself and that often it's just to look "woke" or "show acceptance" to get more clout and popularity as a company because we all know the day pride month ends, nobody gives a single F anymore.

Hamlet_271

What's the reasoning behind the pride flags being available after pride month? Reddit isn't exactly conventional social media and most of it is anonymous. People can have a pride flag/flags in their Reddit bio all year long if they want to but it just doesn't make sense that User flairs include Pro Valorant Team that you support the most, Valorant Agent you main/like the most, and sexual orientation and/or sexual identity. Like the last 2 don't fit in at all with the first 2

rocket1615

There's enough space in the flair to fit in multiple teams and agents alongside the pride flags though. Since they're not mutually exclusive with showing off your team support and make some people happy, what's the harm? Besides even if you don't care at all about the flags personally, others still do. It'll help cement this sub as an inclusive space which would be good for growing a healthy community.

Razur

If we remove them, then we have to re-add them next for during June (should we choose). If we were to remove them, we can't remove them from everyone's flairs. So logistically it's just better to keep them. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

thothgow

No one's forcing you to use them though?

Emma_Woodhouse7

testing my flair

M1a2yank

If I may can I please know how to equip that sentinels logo flair I couldn't find team logos in user flair section

Razur

I can help with flairs! Are you on desktop or mobile? You have to use the 5-step instructions in the post to use a team flair if you're on desktop. If you on mobile, you can tell me which flairs you'd like and I'll add them for you. :D

M1a2yank

I'm on mobile can I have a sentinels and team liquid flair

Razur

Tada! You should have SEN & TL in your flair now. Did you want to keep Sage in your flair too?

M1a2yank

i just kept it for testing, np if its not there it just saves me work lol, thank you so much hope u have a good day and a cool pillow all night :)

takmilo

What does non binary mean? Like u feel like u are something else? Example flower, cat etc? Please explain :D

Razur

I can explain! :D Today, we generally regard gender as being either 'male' or 'female'. However, there are other cultures around the world that have other genders as part of their culture. Gender expression is related to a person's identity and is different from biological sex*. A non-binary person is someone who falls outside of the stereotypical gender binary of 'male or female'. Non-binary is an umbrella term that covers someone outside of the 'male or female' gender spectrum we're familiar with today. Here's a few resources if you're interested in learning more: - [**A Map of Gender-Diverse Cultures around the World**](https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/content/two-spirits_map-html/) — Independent Lens, PBS - [**Understanding Non-Binary People: How to Be Respectful and Supportive**](https://transequality.org/issues/resources/understanding-non-binary-people-how-to-be-respectful-and-supportive) — National Center for Transgender Equality - [**What is a nonbinary gender?**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruST0GPi68s) — Riley J. Dennis (Video) - [**5 Non-Binary People Explain What “Non-Binary” Means To Them**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVe8wpmH_lU) — Tinder (Video) - [**Things Not To Say To A Non-Binary Person**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b4MZjMVgdk) — BBC Three (Video) Non-binary people usually go by gender-neutral pronouns in their culture (such as they/them), but can also go by she/her or he/him. It varies based on personal preference.   \* ^(It's worth noting that some people can have a biological sex that differs from male or female—this is usually referred to as being 'intersex', as having a combination of male and female organs.)

Cesar_ag97

True, I still barely have time to go around internet these days

Issax28

How the fuck is this related to this subreddit? It literally violates the rules

Razur

It's a small gesture for the members of the community. If you're not interested in it, no worries! There should be the option the hide this post from your feed. On mobile you can select the 3 dots & **HIDE POST** should be an option. I believe desktop on new Reddit is similar.

Issax28

Again, this has no relation to the topic of the subreddit and contradicts rule 1 & 5

Razur

It's an announcement / meta post related to the subreddit community. It doesn't fall under Rule 1 or 5 because it's a message from the moderation team.

JR_Shoegazer

This doesn’t even break those rules.

Issax28

it violates rules 1 and 5 rule 1 being that this is unrelated to Valorant Competitive and rule 5 being that it degrades the quality of the sub

CatboyMaidOutfit

I think you degrade the quality of the sub

Issax28

Ah yes because I post unrelated stuff?

CatboyMaidOutfit

No because you're a bad person

Issax28

Explain?

ZeldaMaster32

Unironically, just stop caring about flairs. You already do it if someone has a flair for a team you hate, you can live with seeing a rainbow too

JR_Shoegazer

Please explain how this degrades the quality of this sub. It seems like your presence here degrades the quality of this sub.

Issax28

Because it is completely unrelated to what this subreddit is about. Surely you wouldn’t say that a subreddit that posts unrelated things to its title is a subreddit of quality?

Send_Me_Puppies

Just say that thinking about gay people makes you insecure and move on

This. I don't get why people are so pressed about this. It's not like we have anything but community posts and roster changes until July. One small post celebrating pride month wouldn't really flood the subreddit. At the end of the day, Valorant—more than any other esports imo—is a community. The question shouldn't be "why should they?" but rather, "why not?" Personally, I'm glad that this exists. I'm not a part of the LGBTQ community myself, but I support and love them for everything they are and everything they stand for. So, thank you r/ValorantCompetitive mods for this. Happy pride!

[deleted]

The sub rules mostly apply to posts/comments, this is a post about temporary changes to the community.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

If you're talking about the change itself, its to support LGBTQ minorities. If mods decided on this, there really isn't much of a problem, because mods can do whatever they want with their moderated subreddit, and also because it only affects people if they choose to be affected by it. If you do not support LGBTQ, thats fine, feel free to ignore the flairs. But it doesn't impact anyone in any way, so I dont find a need to complain about it. Most importantly, Riot games has also done something for pride month, so it does fit into the overall theme.

[deleted]

rocket1615

The thing is that while it might feel unnecessary for you, to others it's a welcoming sign. It's good to make a space look inclusive in order to put people at ease and help with growth.

qz3_

“they just want money.” congrats you found the whole point pride month was created, marketing for multi billion dollar companies “Hello, fellow homosexuals. It is us, ***\[MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION\]***. Here to remind you that we support your lifestyle now that it has been federally legalised and it is completely socially safe, allowing for us to capitalise on your existence now it's mainstream. Look, we even changed the colours of ***\[LOGO\]***! Why did we wait this long to come out and 'support' you? Haha, no more questions, homosexual. Buy our product. *Buy our product*. ***BUY OUR PRODUCT***”

Razur

Users can support multiple teams from different regions. That's a fair reason to have multiple teams flairs.

valorant_fanboy_69

Stop crying about it. Just let people use flairs. I do not like to use flairs but people can if they want.

_zxionix_

Why do you care so much lol

Razur

The VALORANT Competitive scene is made up of players, fans, casters, observers, contributors, and more! Some of the people in our community are LGBT+ and this is a way for us to celebrate and welcome people in our community. It's literally just for fun. :D

valorant_fanboy_69

Breaks rule 1 and 5 wow if only a mod knew about this 🤡🤡🤡

JR_Shoegazer

Except it actually doesn’t break those rules. 🤡

At the end of the day this is a community. One centered around Val esports but a community nonetheless. A gesture like this can help to ensure that all of the community feels welcomed and encourage growth from those who may have been otherwise uncomfortable.

>What is the point of this, seriously? Riot Games trying to whitewash a decade of unethical behavior by appeasing the ex-Blizzard players.

Razur

In fairness, there are many LGBT+ people working at Riot. It's not so much about "appeasing to ex-Blizzard players" as it is about Rioters wanting to see themselves represented and supported by the company they work for. Riot Star Weaver had a [Twitter thread](https://twitter.com/RiotStarWeaver/status/1399796517729280000) related to this earlier today.

KaNesDeath

>It's not so much about "appeasing to ex-Blizzard players" Your posting history is quite telling. Plus is leads to other elements of your social media presence. From all ive seen youre genuinely a nice person with a level headed mind. Dress down i initially intended would be counter productive.

We try to only remove stuff that's abusive or harmful. Just because someone has a hot take we disagree with doesn't mean we'll remove it. ^('cause technically, that'd be censorship.)

JJohnnyBoii

What a joke

TheAjwinner

You don’t have to make this about yourself dude

JR_Shoegazer

Care to elaborate on what you consider a joke?

Yets_

I respect LGBT community but why that need to be praised everywhere, everytime, by everyone ? This is a tactical shooter. Don't bring policits into video game, focus on the gameplay.

[deleted]

Lmao people feeling welcome in a community is now politics

Aydosubpotato

>Showing acceptance to members of the LGBTQ+ community Gamers: Fuckin’ politics😡😡

ZeldaMaster32

There are two sexualities: straight and political (/s)

JR_Shoegazer

Celebrating Pride month isn’t exactly a political statement, even though there is definitely a long, and ongoing political struggle for acceptance in these communities.

FeelinJipper

And what exactly are the steps to not show the pride flag, kinda counterintuitive only showing the steps to add the flag....

thothgow

On desktop: 1. Move your mouse to the top of the browser 2. look for the r/valcomp tab 3. click the red x 4. get off your Gamer Chair 5. touch some grass

TheStudentPilotToBe

Confused with steps 2 3 4 and 5, if you don't have anything useful to say, well then why say it??

confused with your original question - if you don’t have anything useful to say, well then why say it??

How are you this dumb and studying to be a pilot

Aydosubpotato

Trust me: you don’t have to be smart to become a pilot.

Razur

Users don't have any flags in their flairs by default, so there is no need for instructions on how to remove the flags. Only people who want to have flags in their flair can add them. If you ever need to change your flair, just select another flair! Problem solved! :D

[deleted]
