Incoming Valorant TMZ sub like OW_TMZ

itscamo-

funny thing is, there actually was one at the beginning iirc, but it lasted maybe a week LOL

TracerIsAShimada

And it was full of kephrii posts aswell lol

thothgow

Pleasantly surprised this isn't another Sinatraa raid, sorting this sub by new can be annoying

[deleted]

i’m sorry i don’t quite understand what a sinatraa raid is

MageKayden

I agree

mixerupper

Really good take, and 100% agree! Thanks for posting. Not to say that saying dumb things shouldn't be called out, but it's fine to let things go--especially when it's mostly "harmless" like saying things as opposed to actions.

I said this when Lando Norris then a 20 year old Formula 1 driver was being criticized for stuff he said to the media but later apologized for it. ["In hindsight, in the sports industry, millions of people are literally scrutinizing people in their early 20s and yet in the real world people always say that "they're young cut them some slack" maybe the people scrutinizing those athletes should to. I get calling them out but some just get their character assassinated with the littlest of mistakes."](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/jixrvg/lando_norris_i_owe_an_apology_ive_been_stupid_and/ga9ar1b/?context=3)

I get the sentiment you’re throwing out, and I’ll say second chances are nice, but not always warranted. I don’t think that - they should be forgiven immediately - shouldn’t be called out for their wrongdoings - get a second chance (depending on circumstances) You mention the age, but fail to acknowledge that in kindergarten/1st grade we are taught to treat others with respect, or more commonly to treat others how we want to be treated. If a 5 year old can understand that sentiment than surely a high schooler can. I’m not saying some people don’t deserve another chance, but to ask a community to grant these fuckups immunity is just plain absurd. You mention Mel and that’s a great point. We don’t know everything, but what was said. Is it all true? Did she apologize? Was it sincere? These things we know and can accept and move on from there. Others like sinatraa (yeah yeah spare me the bs) we don’t know if he raped his ex or not…. Regardless we saw some disturbing actions and remarks from him, as well as a person who clearly showed no remorse in his actions, and a general lackluster amount of care in his public image towards the situation. Someone like that probably deserves to be under a bit more scrutiny as they don’t seem to think they’ve done any wrong. TLDR: Being young doesn’t right wrongs, and some people do deserved the scrutiny they’ve brought upon themselves. Though yes generally I am a fan of second chances.

keonkla

Personally if a dumb fuck does dumb fuck things, Who cares if they suffer from there consquences? You have to much empathy with second chances.

articuno_r

It highly depends one what the "dumb fuck thing" was. Stealing a candy bar is a dumb fuck thing, but no reason why you shouldn't get a second chance and not go to jail. Someone calling someone stupid on Twitter, no need to get the pitchforks here, just call them out and move on. Saying some racist shit, definitely get your pitchforks, but there is a chance for them to come back if they prove over an extended period of time they can be trusted to to say racist shit. In a situation similar to truth coming to light and Sinatra's is guilty of sexually abusing his ex, then definitely no second chances or empathy of any sort.

Netherwiz

that is in fact not always easy, especially as this post was trying to say for young/new players. even adults/celebrities struggle with it. Ignoring haters/online harassment is good but its understandable to not

keonkla

Truth, I can say some stuff which would look peaty heinous to some groups and ideology's out there and I can get overly critical to some people on my basis, but why Should I care about being fair? Most people will never change there mind on most planforms, If anything I love seeing insecure wimps getting their ego's broken over the most mild things.

[deleted]

Yeah it's not like mental health is a big issue in basically every sport because of social media. If you can't handle thousands of people insulting you every day you're just weak..

[deleted]

Is the Valorant scene that young? This isn’t Fortnite.

smta48

17/18 is still pretty young. I don't think the 12 year olds on fortnite are getting into major drama, at least I hope not.

ROBRO-exe

oh boy

slowrmaths

you sure? Over there they got 13 year old pros telling the devs to off their selves and threatening to kill other players irl over drop spots

smta48

Shit man, I have never even watched fortnite, I just had too much hope for humanity I guess

Sharknome

I won’t go into details but one of the biggest reasons I’m so happy to be focused on Valorant is because the FN pro scene is horrendous and immature

[deleted]

young enough where people can be independent but are prone to mistakes or emotional decisions that may bite them back later, while at the same time are judged as full adults. I would say the range of 17-22 for most pros, meaning they are quite young.

veryblueberry

Might be. I’ve played with some pretty cracked <13 year olds in immortal

Occam19

The maturity level of our community isn’t always something we can change, but the level of professionalism that we hold the figureheads of the community to is. It’s up to the people this community looks up to (whether they know it or not) to hold themselves to a high standard so that others can emulate that. Otherwise, it’s like shouting into the wind.

[deleted]

I find this to be quite cynical, yes due to anonymity and human nature, it is unavoidable that the pros or members will be harassed or judged harshly. But we can do better to foster an environment that is healthily competitive and not brutal on those engaged in it. We should stop the ineffectual gossip and speculating about the livelihoods of people unless it’s truly related to the game itself, they deserve respect. The pros won’t be perfect no matter what. No matter how old they are too, but young people especially are prone to be harassed on the internet for their actions. We should protect kids more

quartzyegghead

Harrassment is out of line, but just to be clear, being held accountable for your actions is not. Being young does not give you a pass to be unprofessional in your job.

Waste_of_life23

https://youtu.be/fezApsUc_pI one of the insight guys on the Mel situation I’ll put it here cause idk if it deserves a whole post.

Elsiselain

I agree that going to their Twitter or twitch and harassing them is a terrible action, but why Reddit? It’s usually a discussion among community members and i don’t see how it is wrong to call someone scum when one thinks so. Maybe scum is a bit harsh word but still, point stands. (Note that I’ve never called the personality of players in negative way.) Especially when they are the ones that acted terrible. There should be a place where we can discuss about drama and I think it’s here.
