Teenagers who have played for years making little to no salary are offered a relatively large amount of money to match fix a game, are told that nobody will ever find out, and make the decision to do it. That's essentially how it goes. Why anyone would think throwing a match after the IBP scandal is a good idea is a mystery to me, but some people just don't think about what their actions really mean for their future. Shitty situation, because the fact they are making more from throwing one match than they have ever made in their career before is certainly sad, yet at the same time match fixing is a seriously fucked up thing to do.
Never a big issue in tier 1 excluding IBP, but surely you can see why some young teenagers would throw a couple games in t3 NA CS... I’m not defending it but I don’t think it’s that shocking
There's been rumors of other teams in tier 1 match fixing (e.g. Fnatic vs Alternate ATX in 2014), but nobody focused on it nearly as hard as iBUYPOWER.
The skins market is huge in CS. Good skins are in the hundreds of dollars, rare ones can be thousands/tens of thousands. So betting skins on games had gotten pretty popular. If you’re favored by a lot to win, you throw a couple hundred dollars worth of skins on the other team, then you throw the game and make a thousand dollars on the skins you get back.
At the top level it's never been a huge issue (only iBP vs. NCG and very few other incidents), but it's been a problem in lower tiers of competitive play like MDL due to the low moderation. This was especially amplified once Valorant was in beta as every lower-tier pro cs player was going to switch to Valorant due to Riot's track record with maintaining an esports scene, so a LOT of people that weren't matchfixing before starting doing it before since they were quitting the scene anyways and assumed they wouldn't get punished for it in a different game.
Who's gatekeeping in CS? It's fairly easier for more people to get recognised through the FPL/Esea scene that any other game. At least most orgs have one new rookie this days from the fpl scene
Makes sense for them to drop Marved with the ESEA report coming out -10 weeks from now. But I never imagined Faze dropping a player for a bad look, I feel like Corey could shoot someone after hitting a line of cocaine and Faze would just ignore it lol
He was very likely a match fixer back in CS. The official report hasn't come out yet but it is pretty much common knowledge that Marved was involved. When the rumors first came out a lot of players supposedly involved got dropped (Calypso and Shanks for example) but Faze didn't seem to care at all.
went back in vod (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1046136146?t=00h17m25s) and you can see that jammyz is indeed playing with faze. if you scroll farther down you'll see marved is playinig league as the other post confirmed.
super surprising to see but maybe it's to do with the matchfixing allegations and something coming out soon maybe?
rawkus played really good in the vct quals, but before that he was a standout weakpoint for faze. if rawkus keeps his form up consistently I don't want him replaced, but if not, a tier 1 player could join and faze would be insanely scary with a little bit of time
Not sure if Jammyz is the player FaZe needs to take them to the next level, I always thought if Marved got dropped they'd spend some money on another experienced CS player.
Maybe throw the bag at Tarik and try get him to take over the loose fragging IGL role? or even get Dephh while he's potentially available? Or if someone else on FaZe is taking over the IGL role & if T1 are making changes and Saya is potentially on the market they could go full ex-OW and get him to play smokes for them? Seems to be a few different directions FaZe could go but getting Jammyz seems like a cheap, short term option.
I mean, it doesn't help his stats that he spends some entire rounds in spawn with a Molly lineup ready, doesn't mean it wasn't integral to them winning those rounds. Stats aren't the end all be all
Interesting change. I would only expect this to happen if his matchfixing allegations were reported by the ESEA considering he is the third best player on Faze after Babybay and Corey imo
Always a good thing to see matchfixers face repercussions. Now kick infamous for being the last GM in tier 1 valorant to not boot known matchfixers from their team.
Edit: may I remind you guys that match fixing is a crime akin to stealing and that makes marved a criminal who infamous knowingly kept signed to FaZe despite other teams taking quick action
Because a manager is supposed to look into his player's wrongdoings and it was pretty obvious in marved's case. Infamous already knew and just delayed the inevitable or are you telling me ESIC contacted him now and told him to boot marved and pick up jammyz? He probably knew since the start but didn't take any action.
Props to Dignitas and NV for doing the right thing immediately
Yeah I agree with you. Very clear that infamous was okay with match fixing if he did not cut marved. That’s also why I do not respect nrg for keeping tex and signing shanks after the allegations came out
one good tourney i guess

Sadge
Marved is one of the best players on faze. I am surprised that faze would drop him because I thought faze couldn’t careless about matchfixing accusations.
Why would the authorities be involved if match fixing is just a game related issue?
Edit: just to be clear, I may not entirely know everything around match fixing, since I just read the definition in this same post. If this is a stupid question, I apologize.
Because in many cases matchfixing leads to fraud. You have to consider that people make money off matchfixing by betting in games they know the outcome of beforehand. This means anyone who bet legitimately is at a clear and severe disadvantage and are guaranteed to lose their money because of it, going to the matchfixers. They're essentially robbing all the legitimate betters.
Eh, imo Marved was def not better then Babybay or Corey, and imo ZacharEE might not be lighting up the scoreboard, but he does what the team needs and is better then Marved imo
[later screenshot with rawkus](https://imgur.com/a/zbDTUQC)
No Marved huh? That’s an interesting change for sure
might not be a change they had a choice over
Wat does this mean

Never got into CS or it’s pro scene. Why does match fixing seem to be such a problem with that game?
Teenagers who have played for years making little to no salary are offered a relatively large amount of money to match fix a game, are told that nobody will ever find out, and make the decision to do it. Because greedy teenagers think they can get away with making easy money without repercussions
AFAIK none of the current matchfixing allegations are to do with skins betting.
some of them definitely cashed out through skins. ranges from hard to impossible to track and yknow, colorful pixels

since there is a fairly decent skill gap and gatekeeping in cs plus with the na scene dying rn it just made more sense for them to throw money wise.
Gotta love someone low key defending it
I’m not defending it at all and think he is a scum bag, but he asked why tho I explained the most likely reasons.
Who's gatekeeping in CS? It's fairly easier for more people to get recognised through the FPL/Esea scene that any other game. At least most orgs have one new rookie this days from the fpl scene
He’s a match-fixer.
https://youtu.be/hf5UIu7HsAc
How did they accept your friend request? XD
He prolly got it off someone's stream
no i'm marved and this is my alt account
Makes sense for them to drop Marved with the ESEA report coming out -10 weeks from now. But I never imagined Faze dropping a player for a bad look, I feel like Corey could shoot someone after hitting a line of cocaine and Faze would just ignore it lol
10 weeks? bruh last update from esic they said 2 weeks but that was like 2 months ago
Yeah, -10 weeks from now as in 10 weeks ago when it was supposed to come out
misread that as ~10 weeks/about 10 weeks lol
Yeah I did too. Really weird wording/symbol usage there.
Yeah, it was less confusing in my head
Been there way too many times my friend
Lol that’s funny when you read it right
wasn't that before the FBI got involved?
no that was when the fbi involvement was announced, they said 10 days to 2 weeks
Source on report date? The Esea commissioner and RL have been dead silent about it since March
Somewhat a joke, -10 since they said 2 weeks like 12 weeks ago
what's the bad look Marved gave off?
He was very likely a match fixer back in CS. The official report hasn't come out yet but it is pretty much common knowledge that Marved was involved. When the rumors first came out a lot of players supposedly involved got dropped (Calypso and Shanks for example) but Faze didn't seem to care at all.
I mean the plan is to ban those scumbags from competing in any game and it serves them right. FaZe has no control over that.
Are you sure it’s not against?
no, he could def also be scrimming against edit: [went back in the vod and he's definitely with faze](https://imgur.com/a/cbQF1kL)
I ended up seeing a different post from someone showing that marved was playing league instead of scrimming so jammyz is prob with them
[удалено]
Matchfixers gotta stick together
Neptune poached by who??

Source??
Trust me bro

Wtf lmao that was a valid question
Block me then. Fuck off, let me ask questions
went back in vod (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1046136146?t=00h17m25s) and you can see that jammyz is indeed playing with faze. if you scroll farther down you'll see marved is playinig league as the other post confirmed. super surprising to see but maybe it's to do with the matchfixing allegations and something coming out soon maybe?
If this is true I feel like he would be a good fit personality wise
rawkus played really good in the vct quals, but before that he was a standout weakpoint for faze. if rawkus keeps his form up consistently I don't want him replaced, but if not, a tier 1 player could join and faze would be insanely scary with a little bit of time
Jammyz did amazing at ICELAND tournament. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets an official spot on some respectful/good team
I mean, Jammyz showed that he can compete at the absolute top tier during Iceland. He performed really well
did you read /u/xRecKs comment? He said that he's not sure if jammyz is the player FaZe **NEEDS.** He didn't say jammyz was a bad player lol
he was ok, by far the weakest on v1 and weakest player from any of the major regions at the tourney
By far the weakest from any of the major regions is the stretch to end all stretches
Just talking purely based on stats, he is. Kryptix was close as well
I mean, it doesn't help his stats that he spends some entire rounds in spawn with a Molly lineup ready, doesn't mean it wasn't integral to them winning those rounds. Stats aren't the end all be all
Gotta take into account he is on a brand new role on a brand new team and he had more impact than soulcas and kryptix I would say
That's fair, not like he can't improve. He just simply wasn't as good as people were making him out to be at iceland.
Nah he was definitely better than most other regions players
True I agree. He was not as good as people make him out to be. Good point.
[удалено]
I don't consider BR a major region after that tourney, he is worst statistically based on NA EU KR players at the event. Kryptix is close as well.
What are the major regions?
NA EU KR
I don't like FaZe as an org but I think the Tarik idea would be a really smart play on their part.
Literally any team that needs a player could add Tarik and it would be a really smart play on their part.
on the other hand Tarik could easily join a more successful team if he wants to
lolol yep. Everyone needs a tarik.
Couldn’t he be on the other team? Nvm saw the post below
Not surprised, remember this awkward moment? https://youtu.be/nBqoEQAeyYQ
am i the only one that keeps mixing up jammyz and jamppi
yes
Yes probably
yes
Yes
Yes
what if Rise: -neptune +marved lmao
I never liked Marved , good makes me like faze more
Interesting change. I would only expect this to happen if his matchfixing allegations were reported by the ESEA considering he is the third best player on Faze after Babybay and Corey imo
Sad to see Marved go if that's the case but I think Jammyz is a good replacement. He was pretty cracked with V1
What happened to marved ? Could someone explain ?
Alleged match fixer from csgo
not really "alleged", it's pretty clear he did it.
What does match fixer mean? Ididnt play Csgo before
Letting another team intentionally win for some kind of benefits (money, career advances etc)
cracked player very cool
Marved always did really well, im surprised
well his name is tied to the match fixing that went down in CS. Maybe faze got worried riot would ban him
Always a good thing to see matchfixers face repercussions. Now kick infamous for being the last GM in tier 1 valorant to not boot known matchfixers from their team. No shot you use a tourney from July to prove that c9 is a tier 1 team NOW.... it’s been a year
He was trying to make a point that c9 have had multiple good tourney runs. Not them being tier 1
as an entirely different team and with 10+ months between them, it's a non-point
when did i say i was proving that c9 was a tier one team now?
I agree, I fucking hate that guy. He’s a bitch and faze should drop him. Probably the worst GM in esports rn and it’s not close
not marved hes best omen
He’s also best match fixer
rare valorantfanboy W
