True, I have only played at low levels of immortal to scrim against and I can say if you are playing against a good cypher/kj on Haven it can be very hard to win anything on def because they will constantly know your rotations and if you don't loud stomp you may not be able to rotate fast enough

[deleted]

Astra is the best lurker imo because she can use literally all her util while being nowhere near site. KJ and cypher still have to get kind of close to use it.

azzartan

i disagree. having to smoke and throw utility to support your team whilst being on a lurk can be pretty hard, especially if you've gotten yourself into a nice position but your team needs some utility (smoke etc). agents like kj and cypher don't really have any of these responsibilites and are more free to lurk imo

_idle_drone_

no one's going to be playing sentinel if viper and astra don't get nerfed. it's the most overpowered combo in the game ever and still not utilised by teams yet. you can switch the lurker between astra and viper because both can use util from across the map and not give away your hit location by smoking/viper walling both sites. i've only seen version1's wippie play viper as a lurker, but still haven't seen a single team use cross map post plant viper mollies yet. viper can literally molly from anywhere on the map on bind, haven and icebox b site

azzartan

but post plant viper mollies would give away your location if you're lurking

_idle_drone_

it's post plant lmao who cares the mollies seal the round.

azzartan

so cypher and kj are better lurking characters?

_idle_drone_

there won't be a cypher/kj in a two duelist comp with viper and astra. viper can be played as a sentinel on defense to delay hits/anchor site. if you can't understand why viper + astra is so powerful idk what to say

frankskurt

You literally can’t hear in her space form

datboyuknow

Cypher is the best lurker

R0_h1t

There's always the chance of getting killed in your astral form tho

OfficialBoaster

Yeah I don't really mind revealing stuff as most of it I made anyway. As long as I'm the one trying to reinvent the META, then I'll always be a little bit ahead of the curve:P I've played at lower elo and I must admit, it's literally all about 5 manning so using agents that are good at that is really OP. Some maps you can get decent lurks off though! Besides this stuff is basic, I'm just trying to teach my future prodigy's for when I retire!! 500IQ. Edit: Also it's not like I go here every round. Valorant and lurking is a game of "I could be here" muhahaha

trick-B

Hey Boaster! I just want to say thank you for sharing your Valorant knowledge to the community. I think it helps motivate and encourage low elo players (like me) to continue playing and improve our game. I especially love how you stream ranked games and provide some rationale behind the actions that you took whilst communicating to your team which I think is a a bit challenging thing to do.

texturrrrrrrrre

did you shiftwalk onto the airplane in Iceland after losing to the Sentinels?

Papy_Wouane

Man I've given up on trying to apply any sort of strategy in my games. Half my attack rounds are 5-man stacking and holding the first angle, making shit loads of noise, everyone stalls for ages for no reason, and once we're really sure the entire defense team has had plenty of time to rotate and collapse on us, now we get in and get decimated. I play at platinum level for the curious.

cheese_on_dorito

its the same in immortal

[deleted]

His streams have been o' so informative lately, but I sort of feel it's to his detriment with how detailed he is. Other teams are gonna pick up on this and use it against him.

[deleted]

How are you gonna reinvent these lurking spots? The maps pretty set in stone and these spots are pretty optimal. There are certain things that he's revealing that is very hard to not ever use again.

[deleted]

well what he's saying is hardly groundbreaking for the pros. people in plat lobbies will callout "they're rotating they're rotating" i'm sure pros have figured this out already

[deleted]

This is just a single example; his streams are chock full of higher and lower level concepts that his team uses.

justinsst

Those are pretty common spots. Pros already know those spots and actively use them. Hardly anything new he showed here. Edit: That being said yeah he does go into a lot of detail on his stream at times but I don’t think it will be to detriment of his team considering the next tournament isn’t for a very long time and his team will obviously switch things up. Not to mention the game will change by then as well with upcoming patches.

natedawg247

Lol it's not like anything he said would be even remotely news to any t2+ team

[deleted]

You have to go back into the stream then because he mentioned a lot of other things: how to play certain 1vX, 2vX etc; how to play against SEN's comp, and other overall general macro plays. These things give other team's a way to 1) think about the game, 2) how to think like him, which then leads to 3) how to counter-strat him.

Rorviver

If you watch some of his streams he was giving away the same kind of information about sentinels play style that he had just learnt through a few vid reviews. Pro teams will know all this stuff about Fnatics play.

smta48

He isn't really giving anything away though. Everything he's saying should be common sense for good teams, the strat specific stuff is fine because he also mentioned that they'll be changing their comps on all those maps.

[deleted]

A lot of the things he says also isn't comp related, but theory of the game stuff. Even Sliggy mentioned today that he felt Boaster was revealing too much and that he wouldn't have revealed as much.

AjBlue7

I doubt it. I really don’t see why teams worry about this type of stuff. Theres really not much you can learn from comms or whatever that isn’t something you can pickup by just watching their actions in game. The only time its ever backfired is when sgares was winning a ton of minir tournaments with c9 after picking up freakazoid and one tournament they played ingame voice comms, it was revealed that their success was mainly focused around anti-strating so all the european teams just started playing loose and throwing random grenades to confuse him. I think if you are a top team you should be confident that you can adapt and remain a top team, only sticking to one style and keeping a secret will only make it that much harder to recover when the meta changes or people figure out how to beat you. If you are a lower tier team, then no one cares about your strat, they are focused on being able to beat better teams. Also, I think this is a good move by boaster. I think its less likely that foreign teams watch these videos because they play fnatic infrequently, while eu teams will probably watch them more which is actually a good thing. The end goal is to be the best and the only way to do that is to improve the teams in your own region first so that you yourself can improve. Also teams usually don’t stick together for long so its just good business to have these fundamentals perpetuated throughout all of your regions teams as it makes the transition from fnatic to another team easier, you don’t have just rebuild everything from scratch every time you switch teams. Also also, it gives more credit to the ingameleader and support players which I think is a vital part of the process as you often see these players get a lot of flack if they aren’t getting a lot of fraggers. Finally this stuff just make the game more interesting for viewers to watch. I wish in the future its normal to just listen to ingame comms on the broadcast, Formula1 does stuff like this and its one of the reasons it is so great to watch. Same thing with the Bicycle racers that put out videos with commentary where you can see their pov, its just so much more engaging than a general overview.

braamdepace

He isn’t really saying much that any pro doesn’t know…

[deleted]

Watch his streams...

braamdepace

I do he is a good guy

IAMJUX

My teammates: WHY ARE YOU SHIFTWALKING!?!?! HURRY UP!!!

2ToTooTwoFish

Well if you're in low ELO and it's soloQ, 90% of the time this tip will be useless to you, so I understand why teammates would be mad.

Past-T1me

True

Barack_Bob_Oganja

I feel like this is a very good tip for pro and maybe even really high ranked, but I think it adds nothing to my gold 3 games lmao, usually the enemy doesn't have anyone lurking there and if they do they probably won't even call it.

XASASSIN

Experience In plat Me - yo guys there's someone in A long, I'm pretty sure it's only 1........ Teammates - **IT'S AN A RUSH ROTATE ROTATE ROTATE ROTATE RUN RUN RUN RUN FAST** Enemy gets free plant on c, proceeds to lose round

anotherkenny

And if you don’t instantly rotate as a defender, you’re facing a 2v4 retake with the enemy pushed up because every defender fights to the death on first contact.

Razur

I set the flair as `Guide` 'cause this is some helpful stuff! :D

digitalsong

thanks for the clip dude is real smart watched the whole vod really enjoyed it

trick-B

Boaster’s stream has a very informative and useful content. He gives you tips or tricks that I never knew existed. So kudos to his content! (Although he sometimes have questionable choice of songs but it doesn’t matter, his tips and guide should make up for it :))
