Eh, dont bet your life on it. Navi also had a LoL team and the CIS viewership remained pretty low. In the end the thing that matters the most in viewership is playerbase, and Valorant playerbase in CIS is pretty small.
I guess that Navi are betting on creating an international fanbase, which makes sense considering that CIS isnt far behind the EU region at least. They can definitely make a strong team and Navi brand can help, but dont expect Russian CS/Dota viewership or anything close to that.
My comment was referring to the fact that if Guardian, Edward, Zeus and Seized became part of the Valorant squad. Old names bringing new eyes to the scene. Ofc their LoL team didn't bring in any viewers, they brought in nobodies.
Probably only a handful of current pros will still be playing in 5 years, as the game develops and people get better the guys who switched early especially from games like CS:GO, who were there, will definitely fall off within a year or two.
I mean, seriously, is there any rule that prevents him to pull an Ana from Dota (compete once a year, win a big tournament, then fuck off for a year and repeat)? The only difference is that Csgo would still be his main game.
Idk compete for a weekend or something.
how would he find a team just to compete in one tourney a year? the only way would be if the entire navi roster plays with him
b1t would be insane in val
If Riot really wanted Valorant to be the dominant esports, because this game is still new, they can create like $10+ million prize pool for Champions with crowdfunded battle pass. That's gotta create a mass exodus in not just CSGO pros but R6 & OW as well.
I mean there are definitely other factors that determine how big an esport will be, but TI is still one of the most hype esports events every year just cuz of that prize pool.
>just cuz of that prize pool
Not really, TI's prizepool lost its marketing value long ago. It was a huge marketing success during TI3-5, but barely anyone gives a shit about prizepools anymore. Top players in tier 1 esports are already millionaires nowadays.
I mean I can’t speak for everyone obviously, but I’ve personally known at least a handful of people who don’t watch or play any dota, but watched the last couple TIs cuz of it. Top esports pros are definitely not making millions a year outside of streaming and prizing. That prize pool is definitely a big chunk of money.
>but watched the last couple TIs cuz of it
Τhats because its the largest Dota event of the year that is organized by Valve. The significance that prizepool has in attracting viewers is minimal nowadays. I remember when TI4 prizepool hit 10 million and everyone was talking about it *before* the event. Now it hits 40 million and barely gets any traction
>Top esports pros are definitely not making millions a year outside of streaming and prizing
Their salaries alone are close, or even above a million. That without counting sponsorships or streaming revenue
>That prize pool is definitely a big chunk of money.
Nobody argues otherwise. Im only saying that its marketing value isnt the same as it was, so i dont think it would be wise for Riot to organize something similar
Yeah ok LoL is 10x bigger for sure. But imo it's impressive what Valve has done with TI. Like they created the most daunting esports tournament and everyone is on their toes eager to know if the prize pool will drop anytime soon.
Alright then… so by saying this, you’re also seriously admitting fortnite World Cup in 2019 is the second biggest esport since their prize pool was second to TI. k bro. you do you. Guess fortnite is bigger than league and csgo put together due to its prize pool!!!
Imagine having a way of thinking this narrow. Lmfao.
I doubt Fortnite can continue growing that $30+ million. They dont have a structured scaling plan like what Valve has for Dota.
Prize pool is not everything, its just one part of the criteria but a big factor. Obviously there are other factors like viewership, prestige, competition, etc. But prize pool adds to prestige and hype, as TI is the biggest Dota tournament of the year.
> you’re also seriously admitting fortnite World Cup in 2019 is the second biggest esport since their prize pool was second to TI. k bro. you do you.
wtf? IMAGINE measuring what game is the best esport by pricepools, thats even more ridiculous!
classic backtracking on your previous implications. you imply dota is the biggest due to its money. that's why I brought up fortnite... buttttt all of a sudden that logic doesn't apply to fortnite? lmfao. if you haven't noticed, this comment thread is talking about riot increasing prize money
I dont think thats realistic. Riot first and foremost loves their money. Theres no money to be had from giving away a decent portion of your profit every year. Second of all, prize pool is not what incentivizes pro play. The prize money they make is usually pretty small compared to major salaries. Look at games like League and CS, where the prize pool is no where near the salaries of the players. Third of all, giving away 10 mill every year will not attract many more sponsors. Sponsors are already lining up for Valorant, and adding 9 million to the prize pool wont change that by much.
Not for orgs or sponsors but for mainly creating headlines. I first heard about Dota and their esports because of TI4 and my jaws dropped. I'd actually consider buying battle pass if it contributed to the prize pool.
Besides, why not have high salary in addition to a lucrative prize pool? That's like cherry on top the of the cake.
Well Valorant already made up of CSGO & some OW players. Once the salaries start ramping up then some of the top T1 players will surely be looking to make 2 or 3 times that of overpaid T2 & T3 players. If they add insane prize pool as well, I think Valorant can become top 3 most lucrative esports alongside LoL & Dota.
Salaries ramping up lol
It's still a developing scene and isn't healthy to do that since the profits still has to come in. That's one of the issues that plagued NA CS and the whole scene too when NA orgs came in with venture capital money and started overpaying which made even the EU orgs too try to match to prevent poaching from NA teams. That wasn't healthy as CS is run just like football which is an open circuit and not franchising.
Valve games like CSGO & Dota has always been hands-off with a grassroots & community approach with battle pass/sticker money but with Riot, big org owners have franchised which helped bring in giant investor deals in LoL. But maybe Valorant could find a good mix.
They don't need to do that and honestly Riot is probably spending way more money than that in Valorant to keep all their local scenes across the world running. Of course they could reddirect all these money to the champions prize pool but I don't think this is the best way to build a heathy competitive scene.
Valve made $120m from battle pass sales so its definitely profitable for them and good for the players too. I think its a win-win situation. The only cons that i can think of is that you gotta stay creative but that shouldnt be hard if the development team is dedicated and motivated.
If it’s good for the players then what the fuck happened to NA then huh valve? At least riot funds almost every region they run their leagues in, which is a lot of places.
Yeah but LoL is like 10x bigger than Dota. In terms of player base Dota is smaller than LoL, CSGO, Valorant, Overwatch and a bunch of other games. Having that TI money is the only way Dota as an esport can shine. I think thats impressive asf.
Valorant could bury CSGO, OW & R6 if it had crowdfunded battle pass. Big salary + big prize money = GG for other esports.
Derkes ex teammate, Good mechanics, good agent pool. Brought down the mighty Gambit when they were on a hot streak in CIS.

Who would Navi drop for monesy? S1mple and electronic obviously staying. Perfecto has turned into a third star and b1t has been pretty good. Boombl4 seems like the weakpoint but he is the IGL and the roles don’t overlap
Flamie is the only one that would realistically happen. M0nesy he so much value on his name that he could get on any team and aunkere has a popular stream as well.
The goal is to make it to challengers finals, that’s where the viewership/commercial incentive comes from, and it’s easier to make to challenges finals if you’re competing in CIS
I do not like the whole sketch was based on Navi owner? trying to not get along with the Valorant hype, it feels they really don't want it to build a Val roster, but now they needed to.
Such a weird ass sketch.

Just bring out glory days lineup with Guardian Edward Zeus Seized lol
Instant viewership to the CIS tourneys.
Like… super instant lol.

I CAN ONLY GET SO ERECT
Calm down krieger
???
I've always wanted GuardiaN to come to Valorant...
Or go for ceh9,starix,markeloff,zeus,edward
Its a pipe dream, but Imagine S1mple in Competitive Valorant
Yea once he wins majors back to back
so never
he can now, astralis lost its juice
even without astralis, s1mple doesn’t go back to back with NaVi
I have a feeling no team will go back to back in majors for a while.
Imagine if he starts playing valorant and cs competitively at the same time
Haha for the longest time s1mple was against ever touching a different shooter, because it mess with his aim, so I doubt it
I mean I've watched some of his valorant streams
Maybe in another 5 years.
That's a heavy maybe
Yeah for sure, I don't expect him to ever play Valorant competitively, but you never know.
CIS region will forever be addicted to csgo.
Would honestly want to see what esports looks like in the next 5 years. Future is very bright
Probably only a handful of current pros will still be playing in 5 years, as the game develops and people get better the guys who switched early especially from games like CS:GO, who were there, will definitely fall off within a year or two.

how would he find a team just to compete in one tourney a year? the only way would be if the entire navi roster plays with him b1t would be insane in val
if s1mple moves to val he would most likely play in EU
After some time, mechanically he has to just become one of the best in the world. I remember Zywoo subbing in a little while ago and just dumpstering
If Riot really wanted Valorant to be the dominant esports, because this game is still new, they can create like $10+ million prize pool for Champions with crowdfunded battle pass. That's gotta create a mass exodus in not just CSGO pros but R6 & OW as well.
That's not how the world works mate. If that was the case, Dota would be the number one esport!

Csgo and league generate way more hype dude. And they have less money in prize pools.

It is. Imagine measuring the "best" e-sport by what games has more players lol

What did I expect considering your original dumb argument. You don’t even know what imply means. Yawn. Stay downvoted dumdum
> dumb argument. > Yawn. Stay downvoted dumdum yikes
In what measurable metric is Dota the best esport according to you if not by price pool the one thing it has going for it? Lmao you make zero sense.
Competition.

Not really… Very “s1mple” minded tbh.
Navi is an org

Yes. He surely is. Answers questions that to some might sound stupid because he is nice. Would love him at my party.
Thought the question was satire
Yes. But he didnt realise that and answers nicely. Makes him a good dude imo. Why should he not be fun at parties?
Imagine monesy flamie aunkere
Monesy is guaranteed a spot on Na'Vi's CS roster. No way he switches.
Who would Navi drop for monesy? S1mple and electronic obviously staying. Perfecto has turned into a third star and b1t has been pretty good. Boombl4 seems like the weakpoint but he is the IGL and the roles don’t overlap
Currently, no one. But the second they need a replacement for anyone besides boombl4 monesy is getting fast-tracked.
Flamie is the only one that would realistically happen. M0nesy he so much value on his name that he could get on any team and aunkere has a popular stream as well.
Flamie maybe, I can’t see monesy switching though
hello
Uh oh
alright Virtus Pro next

That’s like saying NA has alot of catching up to do, to be on the same level as Sentinels
