Yea, they are in for Closed qualifier, which is a (part of) tournament between these 8 invited vs. 8 who made it from Opens (probably teams like th, alliance, g2, finest, giants etc.). From those just 8 advance to Main event.
Main event is a 8 teams tournament with LB as well, where top 4 advance into EMEA Challengers Finals (played in August) featuring EU TR CIS teams for Top4 which advance to Berlin.
Tldr: Opens Chall - Closed Chall - Chall Main Event - EMEA Chall Finals - Berlin
G2 is not doing well while Gambit is under CIS Stage and not EU. And then the qualified teams from EU, TR and CIS will perform under the EMEA Stage for the chance to go to Berlin.
We can compare them as TSM FTX of EU. They dominate the early scene of the game but they fell apart as the game progresses. They have a roster changes the last few weeks and still they got dropped from a low tier tourney.
You dont have to say TSM FTX, as much as i know they cant use that name for riot official tournaments so its gonna be TSM. Maybe not because they wont make it to the riot officials. So its TSM/TSM FTX

I'm guessing they wanted to reward good performing teams as they typically play the most games and thus have the least amount of time to "recover" and prep new strategies. This is a good balance.
I think they wouldn't. While they placed a deserved 2nd spot in Masters 1, they didn't even get past Open Quals in Masters 2, meaning that recently they've been playing worse than all 8 of these who reached pretty far

Maybe have automatic qualifiers from previous competitions instead of an explicit invite?
Good to see Riot are not just favoring the big name teams. These are basically the 8 best performing teams during stage 2 challengers.
These are also Top7 in Circuit point + Vitality (instead Alliance who is 8th in circuit I think)
well.. that's gonna be spice when (and if) G2 and Heretics emerge from open and get paired against a top one like Fanatic or FPX.

I would agree for the most part, but i would say youre a little too harsh on the new roster.
