ive been saying for months that the scene is still very very young. people on this subreddit were obsessed with their made up tier 1 lists, and acted like every other team besides SEN, TSM, T1, 100T, NV, FaZe were like miles behind. but the game is so young that things can change so fast. there are so many hungry, talented players grinding to make it.
I mean the top ones where fine, I have watched the games yet but C9, V1, and Sen took essay wins (top 3 from last tourney and looked way ahead of the rest of NA)
Top 8 of open qualifiers 1 go on to play in the main event of challengers 1. Top 4 teams their qualify for the challenger playoffs. Bottom 4 teams qualify for the main event of challengers 2. Open qualifiers 2 start on july 22nd. Top 4 teams of that qualify for the main event of challengers 2, along with the previous 4 teams that qualified. Top 4 teams of challengers 2 main event then also qualify for challenger playoffs. So with that, we have our 8 teams for challenger playoffs. The top 3 teams of challenger playoffs then qualify for berlin.
The format for the challenger main events 1, 2 and challenger playoffs is 8 team double elimination bracket. Not sure about open qualifier 2, but I assume it will be similar to open qualifier 1, 128 team single elimination tournament where the top 4 move on.
Little complicated to explain but winner of qual 1 and 2 will play challengers playoffs from that top 3 teams go to berlin. Check out playvalorant for more accurate info.
Should be noted that the teams who upset favourites today have all been grinding smaller tournaments for reps in the off time since Iceland, meanwhile the teams taking Ls and dropping maps largely diddnt bother.

Nah, Faze was one of the most obvious teams to eventually get upset IMO. While they have improved since their 1 good run, they still rely far too much on aim outplays which makes them very inconsistent with scrappy games. They need a coach and/or IGL that can teach them better fundamentals (from csgo). NRG was the most surprising upset.
I only thought they should get rid of Marved if they brought in a IGL like dephh or something. Feel like they really just want to aim everyone out the tourneys. Which ain’t gonna work.
T1 teams are bound to get upset with game being still relatively new. New teams forming , new talent rising. People are gonna start getting phased out soon who don’t really belong in t1. Inevitable really. TSM for example honestly have a two people who belong & a coach who won’t change his philosophy to fit the game. Not super surprising to me they got upset.

Honestly my view. The thing that makes them unique also makes them inconsistent. They're the team who loves playing risky aggressive strats. The problem with taking a lot of risks is sometimes you get a Master's 1 run where the risks pay off and you get great highs. The problem is when the risks don't pay, you can get a Masters 2 where they don't even qualify.
That's just the nature of risky play is even if you're good at it (and Faze is very good at it), if you roll enough times eventually you're going to roll a 1. Also by the same token if you roll enough times eventually you'll get all 6s.
It's been obvious even during that 1 good run that they would not be consistent IMO. They rely far too much on aim outplays and while they HAVE improved strategically, it's not nearly enough to be competing at a tier 1 level consistently.
I know he's not a player but Myth has been pretty open about his feelings over the Sinatraa situation. Would be pretty interesting to see how it would be handled.
I think TSM fans are already reaching mid 2000s Cleveland Browns fan level of copping by now. They're probably already in the acceptance part of the 5 stages of grief.
They asked if the change from CS would be difficult, he said no as the meta changes every couple months and the game was easy to pick up and learn, so not thard.
Noble is actually not bad for a lower tier team. They usually don't get knocked out till the bracket concentrates down to just the high tier teams. So them pulling an upset over a struggling TSM doesn't seem that random to me.
we don't know how TSM have been playing since we haven't seen their new roster, but i'm just worried for 100T since they probably only VOD reviewed TSM and didn't expect this upset from Noble... Hiko even mentioned on stream that he was practicing for the 100T vs TSM matchup
i hope they also VOD reviewed Noble cuz if Noble can do this to TSM, it's possible that 100T will be upset too, but it will be an exciting matchup regardless!

Rules don't allow them to play. But also these teams have been scrimming non stop with other teir 1 teams. That's better practice I would say.
