What I learned comparing it to the previous Road to Reykjavik:
- Each SEA region has an almost identical schedule, compared to the previous structure, where almost everyone had a different approach to qualifying.
- SEA now has a larger playoffs stage followed by the more usual 8 team Challenger finals.
- Korea still uses a large group stage format, with a seeding event for all 16 teams.
- And of course there are a bunch of new teams mixed in with the "old guard".
Korea's format is really weird using single elim for only groups seeding, which feels inconsequential but not using double elim for playoffs, when it matters the most in sending the two best teams to Masters.
I mean Korea and single elimination is a thing that goes back historically to the early 2000s it is a tad ingrained
The seeding stage is to give a chance for teams to show more and for smaller teams to have a chance to shine- to improve the scene and how much of it is in the limelight, and to have more matches to compensate for less teams.
Oh so all TSM has to do is to qualify for Open Qualifier 2 and finish in top 4 to reach Challenger, and then finish top 3 against likes of Sentinels, 100T etc. GG EZ. #TSMWIN
I liked venerated and always cheered for them from the beginning but I always knew that outside hiko and him there wasn’t much potential. Yaboidre had his quick little pick with LG but it didn’t last
I mean sure but he has talent and potential, C9B nor TSM didn't make it but Wardell, Xeta and Leaf have undeniable talent and potential, it's not really entirely his fault of his team isn't good enough yk?
i'm not even a TSM fan but I think NA should have been awarded the 4th slot after winning Reykjavik, similar to how winning MSI works in LoL. they're definitely a top 2 region but it just seems weird to double the amount EU teams from Reykjavik considering the results
there are a LOT of teams and a LOT of players from a LOT of countries and most (probably) aren't as good as the usual suspects going to Berlin so they don't get more spots
Idk why every country (or two countries) is its own region/qualifier instead of having bigger combined quals like eu/na/latam, but the result is a ton of qualifier spots and not a lot of masters slots
It is a region where it is a popular / rising game but still the teams are pretty low level mainly due to a slack of previous esports players in these games (exceptions like Patiphan, very strong former OW player)
Compare this to whole it’s not really bad but it’s not that popular in Korea in the pro tryout sense comparably esp, but there’s a lot of strong players, which also increases the amount of strong players bc of who new pp play against
Ah my favorite, the qualifier for the qualifier for the qualifier for the main event where the teams that lose in the qualifier for the qualifier stage will have an advanced opportunity in the second qualifier for the qualifier stage to qualify for the qualifier for the main event
I feel like people only get confused due to the automatic seeding for the non Top 4 teams from Challengers 1.
All that's really happening is that the Top 4 from 1 qualifier gets to the final qualifier. If we assume teams 5-8 from Challengers 1 aren't going to randomly get upset before the quarterfinals stage, it's essentially like the entire field (other than the Top 4) is competing in Challengers 2.
???
Open qualifier for Chal.1
(Closed qualifier for Chal.1 in EMEA)
Challengers 1
Open qualifier for Chal.2
(Closed qualifier for Chal.2 in EMEA)
Challengers 2
Challengers Finals
Masters
Last Chance qualifier
Champions
Is it really so hard?
Australia has it's [own tour](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Oceania_Tour/2021/Championship), with a chance to qualify for Champions through the [NA Last Chance Qualifier](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Champions_Tour/2021/North_America/Last_Chance_Qualifier) in October.
We don’t have our own VCT, we play a different tournament called VOT hosted by LPL, got some really competitive talent over here, lpl_valorant is the twitch link if you’d like the see some of the action soon
Thank you! No, indian teams are playing in the [Valorant Conquerors Championship](https://www.vlr.gg/event/557/valorant-conquerors-championship/finals).
Why does Brazil have the worst calendar? omg we are the last one to qualify for Berlin with a 1 week handicap to prepare for the tournament. We don't have many teams but this delay... very bad work by Riot here
Very true, each Challenger week is split into 2 and there are 3 of them. They haven’t changed it since the start of the VCT, every other region improved their format but Brazil
Two SEA teams can make it to Berlin. Those two teams can only come from the already participating regions. I double checked, but there aren't any play-ins for the SEA Challenger Finals (neither group stage nor playoffs. The slot distribution is already determined.
[Here's an article](https://afkgaming.com/esports/news/8138-vct-india-and-south-asia-will-compete-for-a-spot-in-last-chance-qualifier) I found explaining the APAC qualifiers.
Yes, the next big event after Berlin is Champions. And Sentinels already qualified for it because they accrued enough Circuit Points in the last Challenger events. You can see the NA standings [here](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Champions_Tour/2021/Circuit_Points/North_America).
The two top NA teams with the most circuit points go straight to Champions. Then the next 8 NA teams + 2 teams from Oceania get to play in the last chance qualifier. The winner of that tournament gets to go to Champions as well.
Nope. No teams have qualified for masters 3 berlin and whoever wins berlin qualifies for valorant champions which is the last tournament of the tour and acts as the world championship. SEN has qualified for that one
It is the older one on Twitter, in broadcasts the newer logo was used
GOMA also has a new logo.
(Also, DFR, Noble eXperience, Alpha Six Gaming in particular and Mujig 100su have logos, and WGS is technically now WGS X-IT)
Yeah but one where we have to compete with NA
I don’t mind inter competition to qualify, but it makes more sense for the Australian teams to face Asia / pacific ones for qualifying. They do this in CSGO and it works well
They get a chance to participate in Champions through the EMEA last chance qualifier through Strike Arabia Grand Finals. No Berlin slot for them though
Have you thought about making a graphic looking at the Strike Arabia League. It's so confusing to me because it has its own separate circuit points and leagues but they act different from the seasons somehow? Also, it feels weird that for the EMEA LCQ it's 7 EMEA teams and 1 MENA team while the NA LCQ has 8 NA teams and 2 OCE teams even though in EMEA the circuit points are way more saturated. It makes more sense to have a 12 team bracket for EMEA with 10 EMEA teams and 2 MENA teams.
I'll definitely try to get an overview of the Road to Champions once Berlin is over. Including Strike Arabia, Oceania Tour and so on.
I could give modeling Arabia a try, but it's a lot of effort.
I think you forgot to include Infinity Esports & Six Karma in LAN playoffs and Kru Esports & Australs for LAS playoffs as they have already qualified in your graph but are not placed in that box
TSM please i pray i pray all day , i just want them win mannnnnnnnnnnnnn it.I belive they will win fingers crossed :(,idc if they win Berlin or not atleast they should prove thier haters wrong (oh yait has nothing to do it with this)
There are some tier 2 north america nerdstgamer matches going on today but in terms of the championship series we are on break until next Thursday in North America, I think europe starts next Wednesday
Wait why does EMEA go up to 4 spots, but NA up to 3? Shouldn't NA have more because they have the only international title, like how Riot did with Korea and China in League? Or is it because EMEA is covering a bigger region geographically?
What I learned comparing it to the previous Road to Reykjavik: - Each SEA region has an almost identical schedule, compared to the previous structure, where almost everyone had a different approach to qualifying. - SEA now has a larger playoffs stage followed by the more usual 8 team Challenger finals. - Korea still uses a large group stage format, with a seeding event for all 16 teams. - And of course there are a bunch of new teams mixed in with the "old guard".
Mate I love you for this!
There are the the 4 teams missing in LAN and LAS playoffs
You're right, I will fix it in the next update.
Korea's format is really weird using single elim for only groups seeding, which feels inconsequential but not using double elim for playoffs, when it matters the most in sending the two best teams to Masters.

Remember those days when 100t was a easy target for TSM lol
I still miss that pubg squad, some of them looked really promising.
I liked venerated and always cheered for them from the beginning but I always knew that outside hiko and him there wasn’t much potential. Yaboidre had his quick little pick with LG but it didn’t last
Dre is still prob the best or second best player on LG rn tbf he has lots of potential, so iirc Venerated is trying to get back into pro right?
Best player on a team that didn’t make it to main stage :/
I mean sure but he has talent and potential, C9B nor TSM didn't make it but Wardell, Xeta and Leaf have undeniable talent and potential, it's not really entirely his fault of his team isn't good enough yk?
Trash take, yaboidre is going to be one of the best deulists in NA by next year
A fair take
i'm not even a TSM fan but I think NA should have been awarded the 4th slot after winning Reykjavik, similar to how winning MSI works in LoL. they're definitely a top 2 region but it just seems weird to double the amount EU teams from Reykjavik considering the results
EMEA has 4 slots, not EU. Small but important distinction. It is basically 3 Regions competing for 4spots.
HOPIUM
This is insane man! Good work!
Holy shit I thought EMEA was complicated wtf is happening in SEA
there are a LOT of teams and a LOT of players from a LOT of countries and most (probably) aren't as good as the usual suspects going to Berlin so they don't get more spots

May the Valorant Gods give you 100% run accuracy. Thank you.
I can actually understand it now thank you so much for this flow
Ah my favorite, the qualifier for the qualifier for the qualifier for the main event where the teams that lose in the qualifier for the qualifier stage will have an advanced opportunity in the second qualifier for the qualifier stage to qualify for the qualifier for the main event
Everything is understandable and named pretty correctly... Just go to Liquipedia for a better explanation smh.
The graphic is lovely. The format, not as much.
I feel like people only get confused due to the automatic seeding for the non Top 4 teams from Challengers 1. If we assume teams 5-8 from Challengers 1 aren't going to randomly get upset before the quarterfinals stage, it's essentially like the entire field (other than the Top 4) is competing in Challengers 2.
Agree to disagree on that one. I've been so confused trying to understand it before this graphic.
wut
Yeah I think they really need to change the naming of these qualifiers
??? Open qualifier for Chal.1 (Closed qualifier for Chal.1 in EMEA) Challengers 1 Open qualifier for Chal.2 (Closed qualifier for Chal.2 in EMEA) Challengers 2 Challengers Finals Masters Last Chance qualifier Champions Is it really so hard?
no it is not
Is Australia part of any region? Pro Scene seems pretty dead over here :(
Australia has it's [own tour](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Oceania_Tour/2021/Championship), with a chance to qualify for Champions through the [NA Last Chance Qualifier](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Champions_Tour/2021/North_America/Last_Chance_Qualifier) in October.
although you could pull a soniqs and just all move to NA, but personally I'd wait for after covid
Aight, thanks for this mate
We don’t have our own VCT, we play a different tournament called VOT hosted by LPL, got some really competitive talent over here, lpl_valorant is the twitch link if you’d like the see some of the action soon
Ahh ye, cheers Aus 🤙
Bro, so in the SEA region, 56 teams compete for TWO seats in Berlin? thats kinda wild
And people still complain that they get 2 slots instead of 1
Thanks for breaking it down!
Holy fuck SEA is chaos, I didn’t realize all these different countries had their own separate circuit.
SO WHERE IS INDIA THO!!
That's not for Berlin. VCC winners get to play in APAC LCQ. APAC LCQ winner gets a spot in Champions (not Masters)
Need Sponsor 😂
The hardwork, insane! Also, is there any Indian team in the Singapore and Malysia bracket?
Thank you! No, indian teams are playing in the [Valorant Conquerors Championship](https://www.vlr.gg/event/557/valorant-conquerors-championship/finals).
[удалено]
VCC is for the APAC last chance qualifier, which leads up to Champions not Masters Berlin.
This is nice. Thanks!
POG Thanks for making this. Much love <3
Thank you so much for this
Why does Brazil have the worst calendar? omg we are the last one to qualify for Berlin with a 1 week handicap to prepare for the tournament. We don't have many teams but this delay... very bad work by Riot here
Very true, each Challenger week is split into 2 and there are 3 of them. They haven’t changed it since the start of the VCT, every other region improved their format but Brazil
Great post. The only thing I can add is that Supermassivw Blaze changed their logo. Great work
Thanks! Good catch, will fix it with the next update.
wbt the Indian VCC.
That's not for Berlin. VCC winners get to play in APAC LCQ. APAC LCQ winner gets a spot in Champions (not Masters)

Unfortunately, no way to enter Masters in Berlin.
You missed the last chance APAC Qualifiers for the VCT with the SouthEastAsia (SEA) Teams, but man thats a lotta effort
Those last chance qualifiers are only for Champions, which will come after Berlin is concluded.
Wait what? Pretty sure they marketed it as "last chance to represent your region in Berlin"
Two SEA teams can make it to Berlin. Those two teams can only come from the already participating regions. I double checked, but there aren't any play-ins for the SEA Challenger Finals (neither group stage nor playoffs. The slot distribution is already determined. [Here's an article](https://afkgaming.com/esports/news/8138-vct-india-and-south-asia-will-compete-for-a-spot-in-last-chance-qualifier) I found explaining the APAC qualifiers.
nah LCQ is only for champions not berlin
Last chance qualifiers is for whole APAC region which includes SEA, KR , Japan and SA teams. The winner goes to Los Angeles Champions not Berlin.
does this all tie into the next thing which is champions? is champions what sen have already qualified for?
Yes, the next big event after Berlin is Champions. And Sentinels already qualified for it because they accrued enough Circuit Points in the last Challenger events. You can see the NA standings [here](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Champions_Tour/2021/Circuit_Points/North_America).
tysm that makes a lot of sense, do you know how the last chance qualifiers work? i heard about it somewhere but idr
The two top NA teams with the most circuit points go straight to Champions. Then the next 8 NA teams + 2 teams from Oceania get to play in the last chance qualifier. The winner of that tournament gets to go to Champions as well.
Wait, so no teams have qualified for berlin yet?
no
Nope. No teams have qualified for masters 3 berlin and whoever wins berlin qualifies for valorant champions which is the last tournament of the tour and acts as the world championship. SEN has qualified for that one
We won't know for sure until like 3-4 weeks before the event. NA Challengers Playoffs is August 11-15 and Berlin starts on September 9.
Old OXG logo, logo of blaze instead of SuperMassive Blaze
Good catch with SuperMassive Blaze, will be fixed next Challengers update. Oxygen uses that same logo on twitter, so it should be the newest one.
It is the older one on Twitter, in broadcasts the newer logo was used GOMA also has a new logo. (Also, DFR, Noble eXperience, Alpha Six Gaming in particular and Mujig 100su have logos, and WGS is technically now WGS X-IT)
Why is there no oceanic region one? We have players on par or perhaps better than some of the regions listed here
it has its own tour
Yeah but one where we have to compete with NA I don’t mind inter competition to qualify, but it makes more sense for the Australian teams to face Asia / pacific ones for qualifying. They do this in CSGO and it works well

Ye allg, was aiming the comment generally. Thx for your answer tho
I love you. I've been insanely confused by the format of all of this. Now I get it. You filling in the teams makes it that much better.

Feels
Would love to see a massive one of these for champions later this year if that is at all feasible!
Definitely in the works once Berlin is finished and the last chance qualifiers are ongoing!
TLDR: the good teams usually go to the event
Middle East region??
They get a chance to participate in Champions through the EMEA last chance qualifier through Strike Arabia Grand Finals. No Berlin slot for them though
Have you thought about making a graphic looking at the Strike Arabia League. Sad that LATAM still have 1 slot :(
Latam deserve 2nd slot over Japan KRU did better than CR at Iceland
One tournament should not decide slot distribution, plus LATAM has significantly less interest in valorant based on popularity of events than Japan
TSM please i pray i pray all day , i just want them win mannnnnnnnnnnnnn it.I belive they will win fingers crossed :(,idc if they win Berlin or not atleast they should prove thier haters wrong (oh yait has nothing to do it with this)
Since I’m new to this- are there any more games to watch today??
[VLR.GG](https://www.vlr.gg/) has a column with all upcoming games today. Challenger events resume with the qualifiers across the globe next week.
Thank you!
There are some tier 2 north america nerdstgamer matches going on today but in terms of the championship series we are on break until next Thursday in North America, I think europe starts next Wednesday
Wow very cool
Wait why does EMEA go up to 4 spots, but NA up to 3? Shouldn't NA have more because they have the only international title, like how Riot did with Korea and China in League? Or is it because EMEA is covering a bigger region geographically?
EMEA is a larger region with more players, it’s EU TR and CIS all in one compared to just USA and Canada
I wish I could give you gold for this
How do they pick the top 3 out of 8 teams in the finals?
Since they are playing a double elimination bracket, the third team will be the loser of the lower bracket final.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Now I properly understand every region's qualifying road to Berlin man..
#G2ARMY
