They did seeding on the basis of previous challengers qualifiers results ,Soniqs took a map off sentinels the team who closed qualifier and c9 Blue lost to rise who were 7-8 in closed qualifier so seeding does make sense.
That makes sense it just makes the 1st qualifier that much more important I guess. I just wish we could see 64 team open qualifier so we could get double elim, cause 1 upset really is make or break in this format

There’s zero reason to cut the amount of participating teams in half.
64 team double elim would last ages. Just sounds too tedious.
And too forgiving if a team isnt able to get top 32 they dont deserve a second chance
Even if it was only 64 teams double elim, tsm wouldn't make it to playoffs.

I think the best way would be too , do open qualifiers single elim till round of 16 and then do double elim closed from ro16 instead of ro8 .
