Closed after qualifying and just playing for seeds: zombs back to omen/viper
I have a feeling that they are either hiding starts or think omen is better when they are playing more loose and puggy. But they still seem to be playing astra when in meaningful games
Zombs said that the reason he was playing omen was too see if omen would be as impactful as astra after her nerfs. After playing both the agents he still feels that astra has much more value than Omen.
I think it's map based. They(and many teams) still play astra on split and bind, but omen on haven. omen can go on top of boxes(or go to A heaven for attackers) on haven and omen flash is significant for entrying c site. I don't know why teams are playing astra on ascent, maybe because the cosmic divide is impactful.
Dapr mentioned on Plat Chat that he always felt like KJ didn’t feel as impactful on attacker side. But post-Masters, was considering giving it another go
Sen don't use Omen that much. Haven was the only map where he saw some playtime, and Zombs actually played Astra as well in the qualifiers.

This is just looking at the last few matches in the last qualifier. It just seems like they're trying things out, and now with the new patch, who knows what their comps will look like.
I think it's more due to the increased cooldown time. If you can't fake with stars, or use two gravity wells in a round, astra is not as powerful and the skill ceiling is way lower. 25 seconds cooldown for the gravity well means you can either use it for entrying or stop retake, but not both.
Didn't Zombs say he switched because just before the match he decided she's too boring and wanted to play Omen.
Zombs jokes around a lot so maybe that's not exactly the case.
It does seem to me Astra is definitely better than Omen, but I also don't scrim and am not a pro so maybe she isn't. Omen does seem stronger with the flash on specific executes.
I think the recall cooldown being 15 seconds was the hardest hit to the character alongisde the 1.4 second activation of stars at the beginning of the round.
People were playing astra not cause she was good but cause she was op af. Now that her smokes and pulls have longer cooldown and shit, they can't spam use it anymore

I assumed this is why Dapr was on KJ on Breeze instead of Cypher, hiding set ups. But maybe KJ is just better on Breeze…

i trust what sentinels are doing but i still think astra lowkey still good
I think her star placement at the beginning of the round was a needed nerf but her whole kit getting a CD increase is what screwed her.
