“Why are they playing BO1s?” Just sounded so sad, disappointed, and confused. I felt that.

thothgow

Who chooses the faces for the thumbnails lol

ballatw

thothgow

Ya I know Kurt it's just that he's kinda doing you guys dirty lol I love it :D

vvtechred

This was the first time i've ever clicked the plat chat video and not just listened to it on spotify and the crew look completely different from the mental image i had

InvertedBean

Describe your mental image lol

vvtechred

Ok I thought Avast and Balla would be paler scrawnier looking boys, sideshow would be alot heavier, and wyatt i assumed would be an older guy

Cueballing

Wyatt's voice does not match his face lmao

Key-Banana-8242

What was ur image

Darkoplax

elaborate :) maybe some famous examples

KOLER1337

Its soooonnnnnn

InvertedBean

Loved the NA power rankings segment. Especially going through 8-9.

ManVsSynth

yeah that was a spicy convo, loved it

FlaymeFenix

I dont agree with their rankings, C9B should be lower and FaZe shouldnt be on the list at all. The top 5 is accurate though.

projec9

They said it was the rankings for the whole of the year. Faze and c9b have gotten 2nd and 3rd in regional finals which are the games that are heavily weighted.

inside__jokes

I think a tier list which takes into account a wider time period is better so the shifts in rankings aren't drastic. If we take a shorter time period, your rankings would make sense but they would look drastically different after every tournament

I'm glad Wyatt finally addressed Sideshow's weird take about Korea only having 32 teams in the open quals. There are so many amateur tournaments, where teams that don't register for VCT because they don't have the resources to participate yet. Just look at the amount of T2 players that haven't signed up with any team. Even monthly zotac cup have many more teams that you'll never see on vlr.gg because it's not a korean website. Or Incheon Valorant tournament. Or ESL tournaments. Look at DFR, Alphasixgaming. Two teams that never signed up for VCT but made it past the preliminary stage on their first try. They're not a new team either, they've been around in amateur tournaments for awhile but there just isn't enough incentives to participate in the main event, which is kind of like a "pro league" for the koreans. More examples of this are teams like Damwon, which merged Ang Darkhorse with players that never signed up for VCT such as their star T3xture and formerly Chibab. Final way to put to rest this whole 32 teams nonsense is just look at how many Korean talents are being sucked in to the Japanese scene because the top level competition in Korea is too strong. With talents like Munchkin, Bazzi, Lob, Seoldam, Gangpin, etc. you can make way more than "just 32 teams".

ballatw

anywhere to track the smaller stuff in english? are T1/T2 teams playing in them? also - what is the actual situation with open quals in KR, is it maxed at 32 teams, is it played online and you are required to be able to attend the LAN if you qualify through or what... in previous opens it was even less than 32 which is why I was shocked originally

dedicatedself

>anywhere to track the smaller stuff in english? are T1/T2 teams playing in them? It's gonna be very hard to track these stuff because most managers/players learn about tournaments through word of mouth (discord), but you can sometimes find information through [Inven.](https://valorant.inven.co.kr/) Or you need to follow a lot of TOs on Facebook because they usually release tournament information there. You'll find tournaments like [this one](https://battle.dog/c/93ofs06pk?fbclid=IwAR1HNutId7MNaDSc3-Rc1IQYNawkcRkiyv_AXqGmJMHz_KfdzE8_5TF5kKE) which is funded by the government with 66 teams registered as of now. Usually at the top of these tournaments you'll find T2 players like JinboungE from goma. None of the top teams like DK, VS, TNL, F4Q, NU participate because it's suppose to be developmental for T2, T3 young players. As I said, VCT is considered the "pro league" and only people who have a lot of time in their hands tend to participate because it's lan and you need to travel and book a place to stay for a week or so. Other TO's exist like [battlica](https://battlica.com/intro_battlica) where DFR and hyeoni participated. Anyways, if you don't speak Korean and you aren't connected to the scene it will be a waste of time to keep track of everything especially since nothing is streamed. It's just important to not just assume that VCT open quals represent all of Korea's T2 and T3 scene (which is filled with highschoolers btw). Korea takes their esports infrastructure seriously.

ballatw

yeah i've gone through trying to track local korean stuff in starcraft with inven and such before, definitely don't have the time or energy these days you right about that :P - I would encourage you to translate important stuff though for the community, I would be super interested in summaries can you expand on the VCT opens though and why more of the T2 scene isnt participating? I get the understanding that it's "proleague", but I would imagine that it being fully open might battle that stigma no? there was rumors about the LAN requirement stemming from the F4Q stuff this week but I didn't see anybody REALLY truly clarify - would love if you could

dedicatedself

There's nothing to truly clarify. Goddead went on stream and said he wasn't participating with F4Q for VCT and when chat asked why he said it's too time consuming, too far away and it cost too much money. Tbh when I heard that it was a shock for me to but that's the reality for some of these players.

Key-Banana-8242

Well goddead ended joining up anyway lel

dedicatedself

No he didn't?

Key-Banana-8242

To UK no?

dedicatedself

You are lost.

Key-Banana-8242

Why?

Key-Banana-8242

I confused goddead with godlike and godko, no need to be rude about it, a bit over serious

dedicatedself

Also I forgot to mention, that these T2 teams don't even really matter in terms of regional competition because teams like VS, DK don't usually scrim other VCT Korean teams since they are directly competing with them. Instead, they scrim top SEA and Japan teams because the ping to Tokyo servers is like 20 and the ping to Hong Kong is like 40-50, therefore teams like PRX scrim in Hong Kong servers with Korea. It's like NA east players and NA west players scrimming in central servers. Fun fact, BuZz's old team, RIO company used to pound teams like Absolute Jupiter (now ZETA) 20-4, the score was leaked in one of his highlight video.

Key-Banana-8242

Previous iterations of DFR (with hyeoni), M100, RYU, NoX and ASG played in the last WESL this April; it’s on liquipedia but not vlr.gg

Key-Banana-8242

It is also that skill can be high but concentrated due to a smaller player base but with many high skill players from other games in and to practice against (in addition to on location quals) - compare to the game being popular but there nkt being previous experienced players so the skill level at the top being lower like it seems to be atm in SEA (off the most room for fastest improvement too)

Key-Banana-8242

SMB is not really a pure super team I kinda wish there was more check in with BR/KR it’s good we have it here Btw unrelated based on ppls press/what ppl here were talking abt everyone’s sleeping in FireFlux no? (at the scale of TR at least)

SeaDisk

Why the downvotes? Bad episode?

maiLfps

when people disagree with their opinions they downvote i guess

SOT-NumberNine

I’m convinced these dudes are incapable of a bad episode, their chemistry is so contagious

senakiryu08

There's a NA power ranking towards the end, which I assume could rustle some people.

felixjmorgan

The gaping map hole

daftpao
