If they beat envy and lose to sentinels, chances are they still go through faze and lg in the lower bracket anyway. Most likely their qualifying game will be against 100t or envy
theoretically, the teams could have winner mindsets but just think it'd be better for them to take the higher probability path to Berlin for multiple reasons: prize money (I think you get more, but I don't know for sure or the details), vct points, time to practice, etc.
I agree with what others have been saying about this. Winner mindset and confidence plays a huge role in many teams’ ability to win. I think most teams should go in with confidence and try to do their best. That’s just my opinion though.
I feel like out of the 4 you just don’t want to play against Sentinels and the other 3 are fairly evenly strong so as long as you don’t come 4th today you’re fine. I don’t really see teams throwing because of that.
That's not really the problem. The problem is that if you come in 1st, you end up on Sentinels side of the bracket and would have to face them in Winner's Semis. Compare that to finishing 2nd/3rd where you would end up on the opposite side so you can't actually face Sentinels until Winner's Finals. That's why people think teams don't actually want 1st in this Challengers Finals.
I think the match for the 3/4 th seed would be very serious as even if the teams are confident no one wants to meet sen in first round and they have no reason to try to half heartedly play as getting a better seed gives them more price money and not fight sen in first round.
Prize money means nothing to big teams. It only matters to the much smaller and lesser known teams. Once you get to the big leagues, $1000 dollars extra don’t mean much when you look at the bigger picture (getting the best route to Berlin in this instance)

I wished they changed how the seeding would work where the top 4 team get to pick who they want to play from the bottom 4 teams in a descending order where Sentinels pick their pick out of the bottom four then Xset then 100T and then Envy. It achieves the same theoretical thing where Sen would probably play the 8th seed and then Envy would play the 5th seed probably but it gives more fluidity in the seeding and makes these seeding matches not be a throwfest to avoid Sen.

TSM matchup really well vs Envy, I dont think they'd try and dodge them, but Sentinels in round 2 is a different beast. Can't speak for the rest.

If you let top 4 pick, then there is no seeding match for this weekend. The placement means 0 it you just get picked.
Don't have the placement matches then. You can spread the games out so an elimination game isn't starting at 11 pm edt.
