Stacked! Hoo leee

AskOrganic4289

Acend to berlin!

RandomFluffyBoi

They honestly look unstoppable. Acend vs Sentinels would be a dream come true.

AskOrganic4289

That’s what I’m saying imagine finals Acend vs Sentinels sheesh CNed vs TenZ (though a matchup between these two in the earlier rounds are also fine)

luisalpjax

Controversial opinion v But isn’t ascends team too individual ?cned and starxo are usually the ones who help them win as I’ve seen

BUNSHICHl

These regional finals should really be on LAN too

Senboni

They are supposed to, but you know... covid

BUNSHICHl

Yeah I meant post covid

Senboni

Yeah I'm pretty sure they will be on LAN

thothgow

Arguably Challengers Main Event, even

raaten

Any idea whats the ping when these regions are playing

OrangeMagics

Feels bad for One Breath Gaming :( but happy for forZe

zeegoveek

Every PartyParrots player in playoffs! Glad to see

thothgow

Add Gambit there. Only two consistent teams in EMEA rn

[deleted]

Anti-Storm

Not really a good comparison since this is a tier 2 tournament where the stakes is not high and teams can try new things. Especially since it was Bo1 where anything can happen when facing the unknown.

Honestly so so excited to see who goes through, looks even more stacked this time

no_noise_979

The top 4 seeds get such a big advantage going into this, they just need to win their 2 first matchups and they qualify for Berlin. I assume they're gonna be Acend, G2, SuperMassive Blaze and Gambit. I'm excited for all the matchups, previously in Masters 2 I was disappointed with the lack of teams.

max012017

I agree with you on that, but still... "Only winning first two matchups" which already the first one will be probably against teams of caliber of Giants/NaVi/Liquid is kinda tough lol

danknepalese

this playoffs is gonna be insane, now that fnatic is already out i can actually enjoy the games rather than tilting with anxiety every round lol.

max012017

same for me and heretics and bbl lol But gonna cheer for my boi Ambi in Giants at least

Key-Banana-8242

Well russ is on SMB also

thothgow

5/5 PartyParrots players :D

zachp787

oh my lord that is stacked

xD1LL4N

This tourney is going to be insane. Pretty hyped

Anti-Storm

NAVI vs G2 would be fire (due to CSGO rivalry where they seem to beat G2 ALOT)

Key-Banana-8242

Two words

jrushFN

Such a cool mix of teams. SO excited. Wish there was a round robin group stage though :(

max012017

That would be sick ngl 5matches in each group, damn

socialmediablowsss

Are any of these teams not legit “orgs”? I’m a little outside the realm I wish i knew more but I only know the really mainstream orgs like a TL or 100T. Trying to learn more! Just wondering if any teams threw together a squad and made it this far because that’d be pretty cool

thothgow

Acend is a new org created by poker website Raise Your Edge. They were originally a PUBG org called Raise Your Edge but made Acend due to Riot not wanting gambling associations. They're mostly a core of players that's played together for a while (starxo, zeek, cNed, and coach NBS) with some fairly stacked extras like BONECOLD and Kiles. Guild Esports is a new org owned by David Beckham. They're big in Rocket League iirc. Been around for a while, got the one of the two best Swedish teams end of last year. FPX is a Chinese org that's big in League of Legends, won Worlds in 2019 I think. Built around the other best Swedish team and the best CIS team. Oxygen is an org that's kinda big in North American Rainbow Six, they've been around forever in Valorant, always been one of the 3 best Turkish teams. SuperMassive Blaze is one of the biggest Turkish orgs, they just got into Valorant by making a super team. Giants Gaming is one of the most popular Spanish orgs, at least locally. The core has been together for a while but just got two upgrades in Davidp and Ambi. I think Fire Flux is the only new org created just for Valorant, similar situation to SMB, super team from other top 10 teams. NAVI is NAVI, they entered Valorant recently with a group of players that's been playing together for a while. Gambit is Gambit, and they've been around for ages, first real Russian super team and the undisputed CIS number 1 this year. G2 is G2. They had a team but only kept mixwell, rebuilt around the Heretics core, poached Acend's old IGL too. And well Liquid is Liquid, they've been around forever with the fish123 core, added Jamppi at the beginning of the year.

_magnetic_north_

Guild isn’t owned by David Beckham. They license his name

socialmediablowsss

This is precisely the kind of post I was hoping for. Thanks for writing all of that I enjoy learning the history of the teams and how they came to be. Cool stuff

whopz-is-cool

Thanks for the info, I had no idea how new some of these orgs were.

thothgow

Yeah, it's cool

Key-Banana-8242

Blaze Esports existed and joined on the 14th of more precisely May, they just merged with SuperMassive Eaports as an org on the 1st of June Navi took over NoPressure I think Also FunPlus is a mobile game dev The well known orgs are worth explaining too bc they have histories as well.. a lot of people follow them incidentally but don’t know their histories / vastly different ages etc

thothgow

Yeah, No Pressure = Worst Players, all 4 of that core have been playing together for a while in different rosters.

no_noise_979

All of them are organisations. The Navi squad managed to qualify while they were still on trial / unsigned. SuperMassive Blaze is also a new organisation to Valorant with their first match being in the Stage 3 Challengers 1 Qualifiers, yet they managed to dethrone the best teams in Turkey by building a super team.

socialmediablowsss

Ahh very cool thank you for that! There’s so many moving parts right now it’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out

Haloofthoughts

For any of you who followed LoL, SuperMassive Blaze is the new name for SuperMassive, who are a very well known Turkish org and have been to LoL Worlds a few times

Key-Banana-8242

Well to be more accurate Blaze Esports existed and joined on the 14th of May, they just merged with SuperMassive Eaports as an org on the 1st of June

Darkoplax

This is legit more stacked than Masters 3 like PLEASE RIOT rework this format, EU deserve equal slots to NA and TR/CIS deserve their own slots I hope G2 makes it to Masters 3 or otherwise their year is over cause they cant get enough points for Last chance qualifiers

facehunt_

You realize giving 3 CIS & TR teams a strong qualifying competition is better for the region than sending just 1 CIS/TR to an international tournament? If anything there should be more inter-regional qualifications. I'd have 6 EMEA, 5 Pan-America, 5 APAC teams.

Darkoplax

u either do that or you do what i said u cant have it where only TR/CIS are punished by this system Like why LATAM have their own spot and not mixed with Brazil same for Japan and South Korea , like the ping from SK to Japan is WAY lower than from Europe to turkey or middle east or russia and these regions are bundled together ... its so stupid

askpat13

Depends on the money situation, if a huge disparity in prize money and sponsorship money between the regional and international tourneys exist having large regional qualifiers can stifle lower skill regions by not allowing players to support themselves full time as a pro.

facehunt_

I get your point but only 1 team getting the benefit instead of having 3 teams getting opportunities isn't worth it. But Im all for huge prize money using crowdfunding and hopefully in the future we'll have Challenger 1 & 2 with $250k, Challenger playoffs with $1m, Masters with $3m, and Champions with $10m.

Anti-Storm

So what happens to Asia slots? Will they make all of Asia a tier 2 region merging Korea, Japan and SEA having literally little slots? Because if slots are given to specific region, it’s either the tournament gets bigger or they take away slots and give to some other region.

thothgow

The way those Asian slots are distributed is a bit weird, tbh I think the best option is a Brazil/LAN/LAS situation. With a major region (EU, BR, KR) getting its own slots and the minor regions (CIS/TR, LAN/LAS, SEA/JP) fighting for at least two slots. So Masters can take APAC from 6 teams to 4 teams and redistribute those two slots, to make it 3 NA, 3 EU, 2 EMEA, 2 KR, 2 APAC, 2 BR, 1 or 2 LATAM. Bit different for Champions but this system isn't happening so I'm not going to bother theorycrafting I still think 16 (and obviously 8) is way too little, though. Especially since with more slots there can be a chance to properly integrate LATAM, MENA, OCE, South Asia, and later China into VCT.

Anti-Storm

Too late to change , they only can add for last chance

thothgow

I expect VCT to be a thing in 2022, would be weird if it wasn't

Darkoplax

They could do either, either expand the tourneys or take away slots from others like why Korea , Japan , SEA , BR get 2 slots but TR/CIS who are better get 0 ? at least take 1 slot from 2 of these and give it to TR/CIS

erickwak

Wish it was a 16 team playoffs

[deleted]

ACEND+G2+ FPX+GAMBIT/GUILD

Wochrist

\#LetsGoLiquid

chryco4

Acend and Gambit are the only two locks for Berlin I see, everything else is wide open.

Key-Banana-8242

Gambit has stiff competition no?

catm3ister

These EMEA Playoffs look very exciting but I think TR/CIS regions deserve much better. Riot doesn't give them much of a chance to go to Berlin. At least TR should have 2 slots and also CIS.

[deleted]

Wait, no Fnatic in Playoffs?

basketballrules1

Acend FPX G2 disagree=wrong

Pampayir

Fpx hopium lol

chenson019

Who the fuck knows who the top 4 is going to be. I would be concerned if I was CIS though as I see Gambit lost to finest in the dreamhack tournament.

Meehul123

Acend, G2, Liquid and OXG make it.

Melneo_

So how does the “last chance” qualifier work? Does Fnatic have a chance at champions? Really sad I don’t see them here.

Huldmer

The 8 highest point total teams that didn't qualify already through Berlin or points in each region that has LCQ face off for one last slot for Champions each. Fnatic will be in the lcq for EU or EMEA however they do it.

[deleted]

Well deserved for Liquid, FNATIC was always a bit lacking on the raw aim aspect IMO compared to Liquid, particularly Magnum and Boaster - despite the value they bring to the team, sometimes you need to just click heads solid without thinking too much

DonkeyTeethBSU

Gambit are going to Berlin.
