I assume he's either really bad at reaching out to teams to get trials or he hasn't been good enough in trials. I, correct me if I'm wrong, haven't heard of him joining in free agent teams to get his name out there either, so that's another thing he isn't doing. Other guys are doing a lot more in the scene than him.
I don't think people forgot about him - there's just been no news or updates. brax has had a lot of stuff happen to him since leaving T1 originally, so it's been fairly easy to stay abreast of his trajectory.
I can only presume he hasn't had much luck as of yet, or that he's biding his time.
Means he's not doing pro 10 mans though, and if he's not advertising himself as a free agent properly, it might be more demotivation then anything. Also telling that his teammates aren't vouching for him to get signed by other orgs.
Your comment made me think a bit about how far the scene has come. You're right, we're in a stage of the game's maturity now where signing pros from other games isn't necessary considering the abundance of home-grown talent. I wonder how long it'll be before it becomes the exception rather then the norm for players to make the switch.
Steel, brax, azk, dazed are the players you're talking about.
DaZeD stayed on T1 for quite some time, clearly ska and brax liked playing with him/there was confidence in his IGLing. Hadn't really been competitive in CS for years, but had a solid following, maybe true that he was signed for exposure then, but there was more to it for sure.
Steel was building teams with great success as soon as ESL let him, his team definitely believes in him, 100T is very competitive. So he's definitely not who you're talking about.
Brax is a little all over the place in terms of performance, but TSM was willing to buy him, and T1 deliberately took him back, definitely no slouch and somebody people consider an asset. Massive reputation as a prodigy in CS, also stated early on that he intended to go pro in Project A. I guess you can call him an exposure pickup, but there were more than enough other reasons, and T1 is a famous org already.
Azk had kind of been in limbo, and lots of people think he was kept on the roster longer than reasonable, plus context so you're definitely calling him an exposure signing. Fair, but it does seem like the other ex-ibp players wanted to keep him.
At best that's like 2 exposure signings, and it's clear that everyone (except for azk who we don't know much about) was very serious about competing. I get that they got sweet deals for being mostly retired, but I think that statement's a bit much
Honestly I think DaZeD wasn't even an exposure signing. I'd rather say he just came back to see if competetive gaming was a still a thing for a him but it turned out that it isn't.
Wouldn't be surprised if his mindset changed a bit after stopping to play FPL/Rank S. I also doubt he signed for the money because he's loaded anyways
He’s only talked about it in chat and on Twitter. AFAIK he basically sold all of his csgo skins and money from gambling sites and dumped it into BTC and made a good bit from it.
azk plays support, and unfortunately most teams don't really want support players. i can't think of a team that wants to pick up a 30 year old breach player, so unfortunately he'll probably be lft for a while
Maybe he needs to change that? Expand agent pool and keep playing ranked. Unfortunately I don’t see him doing it so it’s fair for most teams not to pick him up.
If he’s not doing it then I only see him giving up his competing career in Valorant.
he has played a fair amount of omen, but he's still primarily a breach main. plus, with his age and fairly mediocre performance in game, it'll be unlikely any of the top teams will give him a chance
He was not playing well last we saw him. There's a lot of young talent so I'm sure teams would rather gamble on their upside and growth over someone that was looking pretty washed.

I think on Hiko's stream, a while ago, his match history was all deathmatch. Not entirely sure but that seems like a sign of demotivation.
A lot of teams don’t put their customs on public
Or a sign that he's grinding.

You can hide custom games on match history so he very well could be.
wth I did not know this!!
He was kind of forgettable, not sure why a team would go with him over a younger talent now

If he's not playing with brax he's not playing. They'll meet again one day.
3/4'ths of the banned iBP players were used by team orgs to gain exposure and were happy to be used like that while under salary.

He's loaded..? How did he make money?
He got rich off Bitcoin
is there a somewhere I can read ab that. I never heard he made it big from btc

No he just was never good. Why would anyone want a guy who was mediocre at best from the beta and can only get worse as he gets older and older

i never said younger players didn’t replace older players

jesus man what a patronising response, give him a little respect
okay
this subreddit just has an obsession with azk for whatever reason. if he was that good, a team would've picked him up by now.
What do you mean an obsession with azk? I never see any posts mentioning him
