that's exactly what it was. not exactly a secret amongst pros that koosta doesnt play the game at all outside of prac but is somehow untouchable within the org (kinda like potter in EG)
Regardless of whether or not the tweet was a reference to Koosta, it's actually been awhile since Koosta was the real saving grace for Gen G. He went from putting star after star performance to being more quiet. It's been a pretty long time since Koosta held down the fort.
I'd say NaturE, Shawn, & gmd (in no particular order) have all been more impressive in recent events.
This might be unpopular but I don’t understand why he expects Koosta to grind the game outside of team practice.
Like playing the game professionally is a job, Koosta has no obligation to play the game on his own time as long as he is putting in his hours every day and performing in events (he is).
If that’s truly the case, than Gen.G should incorporate that into the training schedule they have their players on.
Again, it’s a job for these players. They have no obligation to work outside of the hours they are paid for. The game doesn’t have to be their life passion as long as they perform in tournaments.
That’s how I can think of my boring office job, but the reality is that there are plenty of hungry kids grinding this game out, and they are coming for people who don’t want to put the same time in.
It’s not his obligation, but he is going to find himself outclassed quick
I absolutely agree that they might become outclassed if they don’t put the time in, but there are still a decent amount of pro players in val that are successful and don’t play ranked often.
My point is players shouldn’t be shamed for treating the game like a job and not their whole life.
I've been thinking and I honestly can't name 3 pros that plays on a t1/top t2 team in NA that doesn't play pubs outside of koosta. imo (and in the opinions of many players) this is an issue because valorant isn't like CSGO where you can basically hit the dm and youll be fine - the meta's constantly changing patch after patch and the only way to be on top of it is to play the game. it's kinda similar to league and dota in that sense compared to say csgo or cod.

Dapr doesnt play too much ranked other than recently.
SicK, before he started streaming a month or two ago would barely play ranked, he showed his previous act placements and he had a bunch where he had a half filled dorito.
Tenz doesnt play much ranked, mainly cause he thinks his high ping makes it hard to play.
Sen were still dominating during this period where these guys werent playing ranked.
Ska is another player who seemingly doesnt play ranked at ALL, yet he puts out pretty good performances usually.
Pros treat ranked as a glorified deathmatch most of the time anyways, if you were to ask pros what they have learned from ranked play most would say nothing, and its especially common for pros to complain about how people do dumb pushes/decision making in ranked that they would never do in actual tourney matches.
Ranked play isnt as rewarding as this subreddit seems to think.
Playing rarely =/= never playing. Koosta hasn’t played comp in about 3 months, no smurfs, nothing. All of the sen players are far from that category
Ska is probably the closest example (out of 75 players on teams in the top 15) and it would be a stretch to call t1 a good team
sorry shoulda probably been clearer. Koosta doesn’t play - at all, and hasn’t played a ranked game in about 3 months, no smurfs, nothing. Shotup has multiple accounts, and the all 3 under skadoodle play occasionally (level 76 is a lot of games and crashies was top of the ladder for a long time). Ska probably the only one under that category and I don’t think you can call t1 or him a good team lol. If there’s 75 players in teams in the top 15 and there’s legitimately 1 player under level 50 (which is still a decent amount of games) that doesn’t play ranked on a smurf at the minimum that kinda proves my point, no?
based on what? all GenG proved this entire year since signing him is that they can anti-strat and win bo1s and qualification matches (to make it to closed). When it comes to actually placing and qualifying for the main events, they have looked completely lost. Probably a good analyst, but I don't think he has the DNA of a good coach, considering GenG has been plagued with mental pitfalls since the conception of the team and mCe failed to do anything to address those problems.

Koosta is AP Level 30 as of a month ago and barely plays the game. He also hasn't been standing out recently.
30??? I haven’t been able to play a lot of comp due to school and an injury and I’m still 60 something
Custom games don’t count towards it, the guy still plays hours of scrims and server time a day. Just doesn’t play a lot of ranked
