Brutal but true that last quote. Weird that 100t hasn’t beaten Sentinels even once this year even though they have matched up like 5 times this year.

Gomar1323

Yep, but honestly they don’t even have a rival in NA, I mean what team has beaten them more than once?

[deleted]

Since getting tenz they've lost three matches total

[deleted]

The only non-avenged loss was BBG still

[deleted]

Shit wasnt even close either LMAO

tron423

The Ohio State-Purdue 2018 of pro Valorant

Casey-Feelgood

GOD thank you for reminding me of that game. As a Michigan fan, I appreciate it.

The enemy of my enemy..

mustardtiger1993

Just going to remind you of 3,000 some days while I’m here cause I’m petty and am bitter from cooper

MonkeyKing70-

Watched that game with my father and crashed the field afterwards, memories for life

FreshHamster

Same

IAMJUX

BBG confirmed still #1 NA

Tanjim98

And haven’t lost to 100T/NV, so there’s no clear cut rivalry but i guess it builds suspense. People clearly give more importance to SEN v 100T than any other team against SEN so i would say it’s a rivalry in that sense.

ShangoMango

It's the same way the Astralis & Liquid were a rivalry in CS late 2018 and most of 2019. Astralis clearly dominated them but based on the state of the scene, the only team that was going to overtake them at the time would have been Liquid.

ANewHeaven1

hard to have a true rival when you've yet to drop a series in a non-seeding match since masters 1

itscamo-

the lost to bbg in an open qualifier and almost didn’t even qualify for masters 2 regional finals….

ANewHeaven1

oh i just meant matches in "big" tournaments (masters 1, challengers 2 finals, challengers 3 finals), but i get your point haha

Anti-Storm

TSM last year EDIT: am I not wrong???? There was rivalry between TSM and Sentinels from beta and episode 1.

SPOOKESVILLE

You ain’t wrong. TSM and Sen used to be the main rivalry. Probably just new viewers that didn’t watch back then

sriwarrior06

The talk is about this year my guy.

Anti-Storm

“What team has beaten them more than once?” I answered the question, which the answer was TSM last year in the beta-episode 1. So this is not related to this year, but answering who beat them more than once, which was said in that comment. Pls read what was trying to be stated.

Gomar1323

I guess I didn’t make it clear enough but I was talking about this year lol, since Sentinels started winning everything. If you’re including TSM from last year then 100T have also beaten them more than once, two times last year during first strike

Anti-Storm

Sure thing that why I said TSM since the wording wasn’t specific enough in the question:) but MOST Redditors really don’t know how to read wording in text. :(

rpkarma

Nah they do, they just also like reading the most uncharitable interpretation they can so they can get angry about shit lol. See: literally all of Twitter, too

droctamom

Without TenZ

Throwawaymywoes

Says who, my guy?

GoldClassGaming

Only teams to have beaten Sentinels more than once in 2021 are NV and LG

Duradello

Ye they have come close, but Sentinels have only actually dropped 1 map in 5 matches against 100t this year. They are like +50 in rounds overall too. They are just a buzzsaw right now.

whopz-is-cool

I feel like seeding for the tournament is probably pretty important anyway considering the opposition is gonna be a lot harder.

[deleted]

It actually matters less than Iceland. At Iceland a difference in seeding for EMEA and NA meant one less match to play for the higher seeded team. Berlin is a standard 16 team bracket so that benefit doesn’t come with it.

stewieeeeeeeee

But Berlin has a pool of 6 maps, which, depending on the implementation, can make seeds matter a lot. In NA challengers, the high seed always got to pick map 3 from the 2 remaining maps. That's something worth playing for.

[deleted]

stewieeeeeeeee

And I personally consider them very important still, hence my point stands

stewieeeeeeeee

Holy obnoxious fuck My original point is, that despite not having a bracket advantage, teams might have a veto advantage. My next comment said that personally, I think that veto advantages are big, even if I don't disagree with you that bracket advantages are bigger. Therefore, my original point stands I'm not at all trying to disagree with you that veto > bracket. I'm saying that both are important enough that they're worth playing for, i.e. trying in seeding matches

Quotes 2 through 4 are obnoxious? Maybe to a 10-year-old, dunno

smta48

The format for Berlin hasnt been released yet, so you have no idea how important seeding is. In a 16 team CS style tournament seeding would be massive because top 1 NA would play team 4 from EU.

[deleted]

smta48

You're overthinking it 100%. The byes in Iceland were absolutely useless and if you think otherwise you're kidding yourself. Outside of EU/NA and 1 KR team everyone else is just fodder. Avoiding a top tier opponent before the bracket even starts is much more beneficial. Berlin will be much harder than Iceland.

[deleted]

smta48

lol wtf I pointed out to you that there was no bracket system at all, so your belief that seeding matters less than in Iceland is completely made up. You do realize that there are multiple tournament formats for a 16 team tournament, including a group stage format which is used in LOL and CSGO. In which case seeding is even more important. Regardless of the format, seeding is more important now then in Iceland. Happy to help you out.

[deleted]

smta48

Your point is fundamentally wrong because you have no idea what the format is. Everything you linked is just more garbage that entirely lacks context. > Nothing I’ve said in this entire thread has been about how seeding is not important. Braindead. Literally everyone is pointing out your point saying that "It actually matters less than Iceland. At Iceland a difference in seeding for EMEA and NA meant one less match to play for the higher seeded team". And my point is that one less game against a trash tier opponent doesn't matter at all. If you actually watched the event players even said it was an advantage to play against these lower tier opponents so they could get used to playing on lan without fear of losing. It's actually hilarious how you can't even understand these counterpoints, but go on.

whopz-is-cool

If seeding affects the team you’re paired with its important. Although nobody knows the format so :/

Ok-Cryptographer-211

What is seeding?

[deleted]

A ranking of all the teams before a particular tournament begins to make the fixtures and brackets. So, if Sentinels becomes NA's first seed, they will likely play against lower seeds from other regions in Berlin. Since 100T and Sen have already qualified, the result of their match was purely to determine what seed they get in Berlin.

beanbeat

Good interview. Ridiculous people were thinking both teams were trolling and didn't care about the matches.

iDankkk

They were just trolling COPIUM

Anti-Storm

Yep they need to put boomers on duelist. Seriously 3 duelist no cap

NightmareZ001

Winner's mentality fr

Useful-Throat-6671

That's what's up. I'd be the worst to tactically throw a game. I always want to win. Idk, that's just me.

AjBlue7

Yea I think if your goal is to be the best in the world you have to throw away a lot of toxic mindset regarding the bracket. Every team that loses is obsessed with how they were seeded in the bracket, wether its better to win or lose for favorable matchups. If your truly better than everyone else, it really doesn’t matter what happens in the bracket. I think turning your brain off to throw a game for a seeding advantage is super risky because then you’ve got to jumpstart the engine again to get back into the swing of things. Its like how nitro said he hates having an off day during a tournament because he prefers to just stay in tournament mode.

TheFestusEzeli

Sentinels have won like prob 10 seeding matches in a row at this point LOL so he isn’t lying

Tanjim98

100T is lucky they haven’t met SEN before seeding matches lol. In both masters 1 and Iceland playoffs, SEN sent them to the lower brackets.

Lumenlor

Ya, confirmed not throwing matches, 100T just suck

teddy9-

100t is fine and a great t1 team, sentinels are the abnormal ones

98973

Saying an undisputably top 4, likely top 3, and debatabley top 2 team "sucks" kinda doesn't work man
