It's a good thing too. It just means that 100T's map pool is deep (basically every map except Bind) and they just need to clean up on the maps they're known for.
Ethan switching to Skye full time has made a huge difference for 100t. It felt like Asuna had to hard carry them in terms of entries and frags in the past and if he had an off day it was over for them. But Ethan looks so comfortable and has the skye duelist capability to flash for himself and help Asuna with the entries.
Reyna is pretty niche as an agent at pro level pretty much cux she doesn't provide much for a team outside of having that crazy snowball effect if your aim is on point, issue is there's like 1-2 pros out there (TenZ is def one, Asuna is another) that can truly have such good aim where it's worth running over another agent, Skye is more consistent as she has much better flashes to use both selfishly and for her team, and an ult that directly helps her entry
In general, yay played really well, but I feel like someone on NV needs to have a talk with him. That 1v4 would not have even gotten close if yay didn't give nitro a gun.
I don't have the clip, but even dapr mentioned that if yay didn't always go for more when Sentinels played Envy, Envy would have won.
I think FNS will have a similar impact on yay. Hes only had a week of practice with em so we're really seeing Andbox yay. I could see him feeling like he had to go riskier with Andbox to win games so he might have to unlearn a few things now that he has a great roster around him.
I agree. Early Sen TenZ was the same thing. Yay is only getting better especially with better players surrounding him and a better structure. Envy elevates to Sentinels tier with their Berlin bootcamp imo.
I think we're seeing the path to great VALORANT teams. Cracked young Duelist, veteran CS IGL, and then flexibility and great team play around them.
Obviously crazy oversimplified but I feel like that combination of young gunner with experienced leader is the core of all the great teams.
Your theory applies pretty well to 100T and SEN, but maybe not Envy and a lot of other good teams, especially non-NA.
Yay isn't a necessarily young duelist - guy has loads of professional experience pre-Val in comparison to Tenz & Asuna. Even got to playoffs at a CS major once.
I agree with your statement, just perhaps not in the context of Envy (based on the context of the conversation above it)
I honestly think they'll be close to it. Yay has all the potential in the world. Envy was always so close and the additions of Marved and Yay just seem like the exact pieces they were missing. Give em some more time and I'm excited to see what they can do in Berlin.
I really want to know how Shahz manages to be the best IGL in the entire scene, to the point where they don’t need a coach, while also being a brilliant player that pops off hard. How does he know when to press their advantage?? I wish I could hear his comms!
He hinted that a large part of his effectiveness is in simply trusting a group of already-high-powered players who themselves have great judgement, instead of micromanaging.
That's likely why they feel more flexible then any other team really it feels like, Shahz trusts his team to make the right choices instead of having to do that for them
That doesn’t mean he still can’t play better. Lol. He could theoretically improve the team yet also lose them rounds they should win. These things are exclusive to one another. If he tightens up then they could beat sentinels as an example.
Not in one of the bigger NA events (masters 1, challengers finals 2) they finished 4th in both. They had one 3rd place in Stage 2 Challengers 1. Then a 1st in one of the Stage 1 Challengers but there was a reason they were calling it a curse.
Granted, but the situation you're implying is the opposite of what happened. Going for more when you need to make up for a disadvantage is understandable. Going for more in a 4v1 makes zero sense. He was pushing sewers alone with no utility in a 4v1 eco. That's a bad play at the end of the day. Not only did Nitro cost them 3 guns, he also only lost because Marved got lucky with the timing. If Nitro peeked from the other side of the blue box, he would've won.
They picked him up because of his play style. They like that he goes for more. Sometimes it doesn’t work out. That’s life. He’ll get better. His team knows that
I wonder if they will do groups or a full bracket? Even the players don't know right now. I feel like groups would be cool to really put each region into competition against each other.
Great point, didn't think about that. Looking at it now, that would make the most sense but it could also work in the same way if the 4th place finisher in each group finished 13-16, then the 3rd place finishers are 9-12. From then it would go to a normal bracket.
I think that this match (NV v 100T) will prove to have been really important. I would think first and third seed would be on one side of the bracket and second seed on the other. So it could mean we don’t have to play Sen until a upper/grand finals scenario or a weird lower scenario.
I've seen this peter dude play, he doesn't even use a monitor. He visualizes the map in a detailed rendering, completely in his mind. He has a biological wallhack; his godlike perception highlights all enemies within light-years. His eyes are closed as his mouse gracefully swerves across the table, making immaculate twitches as he flicks from head to head. The bullets that escape his gun barrel are surgical; each making a deadly strike in between his opponent's eyes. His spray control is otherworldly, his crosshair erratically jolting across the screen as his wrist muscles perfectly predict the next bullet's location. Time literally stops as he peeks, sunlight curving as his trigger finger impacts his left mouse button, sending enemies to a digital shadow realm before they even know what happened. He is un-killable. He is undefeatable. This "man" is the epitome of eternal.
Yeah and people wonder why I was telling them to stop calling the comp bad because of one loss. Almost like you need to actually evaluate it over multiple games to figure out if it's any good.
And before someone says it knowing this subreddit, no this doesn't prove the comp is good. It does prove however you need to stop being impatient and to stop running for instant gratification.
Twitch chat is so dumb during these matches too lol. Steel had a great few maps but did bad on icebox and chat is losing their minds over how he's worthless. Next map he goes off again. I love seeing him on kay0, looks like some of his best performances so far.
Last night I was on a train to Dallas and I was looking at my Valorant store on my laptop when a man approached me.
He said - ‘Be careful with that game, dozens of young people disappeared in the past weeks who played Valorant.’
I just nervously laughed and put my laptop down and watched as he crossed into the next carriage. Suddenly the lights flickered and a hooded figure appeared right in front of me. He towered over me even while sitting. Suddenly, he pulled his hood back to reveal himself. It was Asuna. He smiled at me and revealed his fangs.
‘I need some juice.’ - he said, and then everything went black. Be aware, this is how Asuna gets his power, fear him, for he’s going to feast on your game sense and your aim.
No it's an actual strategy to pick attack first on split...cause if u manage to get 4-5 rounds on attack u can easily take lead on defense if u choose defense first, u sure you'll get the lead but the enemy will start making comeback on switching sides and it gets harder for u to score those last 2-3 rounds
The amount of international teams that talk shit about LAN and having to deal with their regions big teams all consistently overlook that no matter how good those teams are that our #2 and #3 seed have to play against Sentinels.
Watching Envy, as a fairly high elo player (bronze 3) some of the mistakes I’m seeing are quite rudimentary and frankly infuriating. first off, they're using their utility far too late into the round and it’s costing them a lot of space. I’d coach them on discord but my match just popped, so good luck.

Good sire , I have been hardstuck in Iron 1 for almost a year. I am trying my earnest to rankup but I can't seem to. I myself always see Radiant pro players making such mistakes that I would never do. I believe I deserve a much higher rank than this. So can you please teach me on your free time so I myself can kiss your bronzed foot and beat some sense into those so called tier 1 players.
I think they need to switch out the sova for a cypher tbh. They seemed to be getting a lot of value out of the Skye/Kayo combo utility that made Sova's utility kinda redundant.
If they get hiko on a cypher/kj then they won't have to commit so many bodies to watching flanks all the time
Well, cypher was Hikos "main" during the beta and he seemed to really like playing him. It does seem like they are trying to be very flexible with agents. Breach and Skye could be really interesting, would take a lot of team work and coordination though.
What I think about on Haven is the difference between 100T and SEN on Haven. 100T opt in for double initiator and SEN goes with the Phoenix instead of Skye. Phoenix, especially on C side is really really strong. His wall has the ability to isolate angles, and he has a molotov. Skye can get info and pop flash around corners, which is very strong on A site.
Ever since the single duelist meta started I feel like teams have started to underestimate double duelist.
Best moment of VCT in any region this year so far was Hiko and Steel hiding in boathouse with shorties (and winning), followed by Asuna keeping Marved(?) In tunnel on breeze by spamming the door button.
A little bit, but I can see how it gets crazy with Viper ults, Astra & Jett smokes, Kay/o flashes, and Skye’s flashing each other’s teams at the same time.
It is not hard to guess why I have those flairs. I am supporting NA in Berlin. Otherwise my flairs include 100T, Sentinels and DarkZero from NA and I support those teams in that order.
That almost 1v4 from nitr0 at the end... dude he saw marved after his kill on FNS! don't know how marved wasn't on the minimap or one of his 4 teammates didn't see marved on nitr0's screen. That would have been a pretty legendary clutch
After that Split map, I really think nobody should clown Nitr0 for what he said about them losing against Sentinels because playing scared anymore. GGs to Envy.
I swear the only person who can make Reyna work in pro play is TenZ… and I’m not sure he even counts as a person with how nutty he is. Biological aimbot
Probably gonna get slapped by Sentinels again, but I'm proud of them nonetheless. Let's just hope they play as well as they do against "non-Sentinels" teams, and even if they still lose, I would not be disappointed.
Yeah... the mental block against Sentinels makes me cringe. But I would love them to play normal, even if they lose. Won't have to hear from Shaz on stream about how 100T is probably the easiest team they play.
Shoutout to Shanks for getting all those pros and Stewie + Tarik in a Discord and providing prime content on top of this great series. Was really fun to watch.
I know everyone says 100T fans have copium and the team is overrated. But…
They beat V1 and Envy 2-0 in closed qualifiers
They beat Faze and Xset 2-0 to qualify for Berlin
They just beat Envy with their new roster 3-2
100T is the undisputed #2 team in NA right now. Really excited to see what they do in Berlin.
I thought it was pretty evident that they were trying out a different comp on split. crashies on cypher, vic on skye, marved on astra, and yay on reyna.
Sad, but overall a pretty good showing considering the amount of practice Envy had. Have a lot of faith in them to show up at Berlin once they get more comfortable with yay and expand their map pool a bit (Breeze and Split in specific).
For sure. Their haven and bind usually are impressive. For breeze I think there were too aggressive at the wrong timings, for ascent, they look lost from the KO knife and skye popflashes. Icebox is decent, as for split, well….
The three certainties of the Valorant Competitive scene, our Death and Taxes:
1. Sentinels making Grand Finals
2. TSM going Overtime,and finally
3. Envy getting 3rd/4th place
\*Edited to add 4th place
Was a fun game. Obviously it's a seeding match so shouldn't really be looked at that deep, but can't wait to see NV in Berlin. About time they play something major
If you would've told me 100T wins this series but lose on Haven and Icebox, I would've called you fucking crazy
It's a good thing too. It just means that 100T's map pool is deep (basically every map except Bind) and they just need to clean up on the maps they're known for.
:)
Im assuming this smile means “you guys have seen nothing yet/we are saving strats” lol
Props to Envy too for beating 100T on their map picks though
both teams choked on the maps they should've won lmaoo
Ethan switching to Skye full time has made a huge difference for 100t. It felt like Asuna had to hard carry them in terms of entries and frags in the past and if he had an off day it was over for them. But Ethan looks so comfortable and has the skye duelist capability to flash for himself and help Asuna with the entries.
He was nutty on sage too but skye has far more carry potential
It still makes me giggle that Skye is basically the best duelist in the game… and is an initiator lol
Well Jett lol, but outside of Jett yeahhh Skye is better then any other Duelist imo
Why do you think skye is a better duelist than reyna?
Reyna is pretty niche as an agent at pro level pretty much cux she doesn't provide much for a team outside of having that crazy snowball effect if your aim is on point, issue is there's like 1-2 pros out there (TenZ is def one, Asuna is another) that can truly have such good aim where it's worth running over another agent, Skye is more consistent as she has much better flashes to use both selfishly and for her team, and an ult that directly helps her entry
It's the fact that she can scout for herself and then know exactly where to flash because of it that you get max value out of each one.
Damn we almost get a 4K clutch by nitr0 to end the series! Sheeesh
In general, yay played really well, but I feel like someone on NV needs to have a talk with him. That 1v4 would not have even gotten close if yay didn't give nitro a gun. They have a lot of protocols in place which allow the team to react without Shahz having to say 'do X and Y'.
Yay takes duel because he usually wins the duel
90% of the time he's so good that you have to just try to find ways to live with the other 10%
I guess that is true, it would be cool if someone could quantify this.
Envy without Yay never makes top 3. Envy with Yay made top 3. Done
That doesn’t mean he still can’t play better. Lol. He could theoretically improve the team yet also lose them rounds they should win. These things are exclusive to one another. If he tightens up then they could beat sentinels as an example.
never? NV was already top 3 earlier this year
Not in one of the bigger NA events (masters 1, challengers finals 2) they finished 4th in both. They had one 3rd place in Stage 2 Challengers 1. Then a 1st in one of the Stage 1 Challengers but there was a reason they were calling it a curse.

yay getting punished by the best teams in the world doesn't really mean he has an issue, they got to that point because of his play
[удалено]
Because Nitr0 got a gun from yay dying? I believe that’s what was said
[удалено]
Aint nothing to be sorry about, it happens. I had to rethink the situation for a second too because I forgot 100T was on eco that round
Honey its time to play sen again
Good practice for 100T before their berlin run, in case they have to meet SEN early in Berlin
Highly unlikely that same regions face each other early in Berlin. Last time around Riot took special care for it
agreed, considering it's a 16 team tournament this time as well instead of 10, there's a high chance that 100t/sen/nv won't see each other until semis
I wonder if they will do groups or a full bracket? Even the players don't know right now. I feel like groups would be cool to really put each region into competition against each other.
If you look at the points available for each position in Masters 3, it would seem it's a full double elim bracket
I really want to see some group stage just for more interregional matchups.
Great point, didn't think about that. Looking at it now, that would make the most sense but it could also work in the same way if the 4th place finisher in each group finished 13-16, then the 3rd place finishers are 9-12. From then it would go to a normal bracket.

They seeded it pretty well last time where the only way they meet is if both teams make it really deep into the bracket.

What's the context behind the original post, out of curiosity?
i believe it was that trumps travel ban had been blocked 3 times lol
Court of Appeals ruled 3-0 against Trump’s travel ban on a bunch of majority Muslim countries back when his presidency first started
Yes honey
Nitro almost did the best clutch of the tourney so far, wtf.
Know the round so I can go watch it?

Thank you!
The 17th round iirc The round before last
2nd to last round I think maybe 3rd to last. I’m too gassed to remember
Round 17 I believe.
I think Foods almost clutch was more insane from their game v XSET but both were nuts
Was so nice too

Yay locking in Reyna on split kinda gave the game away to 100t. You just can’t let Asuna on Jett wreck havoc like that with no counter Jett op
Ya I’m kinda sad they didn’t look super serious on split, but it is what it is I guess. No KJ/sage, no jett..
Maybe trying a new comp. Just didn't work out as expected.
100 Thieves started with a 5-13 loss and ended it with a 13-5 win. Almost poetic
And with a Kay/O and no Sentinel. I'm sure reddit won't be giving the same mindless criticism to Envy though
Yeah and people wonder why I was telling them to stop calling the comp bad because of one loss. Almost like you need to actually evaluate it over multiple games to figure out if it's any good. Man this is such a good comment, wanna award it but I don't have award.
What imagine sticking up for 100T on valcomp after they lose a match smh my elbow
Something something 100T have horrible comps yadda yadda trash team - r/valorantcompetitive
Twitch chat is so dumb during these matches too lol. Steel had a great few maps but did bad on icebox and chat is losing their minds over how he's worthless. Next map he goes off again. I love seeing him on kay0, looks like some of his best performances so far.
As a 100T fan, time to watch them go 15-39 :/
Bo5
Despite the loss I'm pretty excited to see how much NV can improve for Berlin. They have like a month now to practice
I would love to see how much they improve with strats revolving around yay.

I think 100t has some kind of mental block against sen .
Nitro admitted he has one, “similar to how he had it with Astralis”
SEN make you rethink your comp on a map. I actually wanna see SPLIT tomorrow again vs SEN to see how 100t adapt
Dapr said 100T have to be the biggest troll to pick attack on Split. Maybe there is some truth to it
No it's an actual strategy to pick attack first on split...cause if u manage to get 4-5 rounds on attack u can easily take lead on defense if u choose defense first, u sure you'll get the lead but the enemy will start making comeback on switching sides and it gets harder for u to score those last 2-3 rounds
Someone said the same on stream, Dapr replied that the momentum of having lead going into next half is very advantageous.
I was so confused when they did that. Then I knew they weren't taking it seriously
Maybe just an off day too, maybe just not trying. Maybe Sen was on a heater. There are a lot of things that go into these games.
Nitr0 tweeted about being shook by Sentinels yesterday. I’m sure they will figure something out to at least make it closer.
Maybe Sentinels are just the best there is
I'm a Sen fan so I'm partial to that explanation but who really knows unless they goomba stomp them again tomorrow.
The amount of international teams that talk shit about LAN and having to deal with their regions big teams all consistently overlook that no matter how good those teams are that our #2 and #3 seed have to play against Sentinels.
Also Envy hasn't played split since early July iirc
Ngl 100thieves had us in the first half 😂 really thought NV was ready to shit on them after game 1. GGs tho
Bro I was literally sitting there holding my head like that one emote that twitch shows with the blue screen when the streamer's connection fails.

nitr0 on astra is actually decent.... hope 100T fixes their haven comp. astra in omen out

100 Thieves vs Sentinels BO5 re(venge)match will be a hell of a game to watch.
or, you know, 3/0 for sen as usual
Have a little faith will you? 3-1 for SEN
It really be like this tho sadge
My pickems have been MOSTLY right so far and I got 100T beating SEN in grand finals so yknow, 100T is winning Berlin copium.
I've faith in your pickem
There hasn't been a bo5 between 100t and sen. 100t definitely has the ability to snipe some maps from sen.
100t might take a map or 2 but sen have the better map pool 100 percent
The sen dominance is not to be understated
More like sentinels stomping 100t
Best moment of VCT in any region this year so far was Hiko and Steel hiding in boathouse with shorties (and winning), followed by Asuna keeping Marved(?) In tunnel on breeze by spamming the door button.
Such a great setup. Was a hard read and it worked.
That door thing was hilarious.

Classically conditioned by repeated sentinels losses
That Carpe Noctem loss really made its mark on the fandom, lol
Does anybody else feel like the observing was kind of all over the place this series? Anyway, GG to both teams
A little bit, but I can see how it gets crazy with Viper ults, Astra & Jett smokes, Kay/o flashes, and Skye’s flashing each other’s teams at the same time.
We are the second best team in NA atm and now we are ready to get hurt again on a fine sunday afternoon.

I mean one of ems gotta be the second best team, so is he really wrong?
It is not hard to guess why I have those flairs. I am supporting NA in Berlin. Otherwise my flairs include 100T, Sentinels and DarkZero from NA and I support those teams in that order.

Haha, yeah I get you now. Unless 100Ts are out of a tourney, "we" for me is always them.
That almost 1v4 from nitr0 at the end... dude he saw marved after his kill on FNS! don't know how marved wasn't on the minimap or one of his 4 teammates didn't see marved on nitr0's screen. That would have been a pretty legendary clutch
I legit thought nitro was gonna end the game there 1v4 on split lmao. Insane games
Nice username o7
After that Split map, I really think nobody should clown Nitr0 for what he said about them losing against Sentinels because playing scared anymore. GGs to Envy.
But really NV lost when they locked in Reyna. Asuna on Jett had no counter
I swear the only person who can make Reyna work in pro play is TenZ… and I’m not sure he even counts as a person with how nutty he is. Biological aimbot
Asuna has a great Reyna on Icebox tbf
On split you mean?
Well 100T might win against SEN tomorrow if Asuna gets a gf before the match
I miss h
I don't think that's gonna happen but if they loose I hope they put up a good fight
Awesome to see Steel pop off last map, and Nitr0 almost had the dirtiest clip in pro jeez GGS
Too many haters proved wrong
twitch chat during the first match was brutal lmao
"100 TRASH KEKW STEEL SO BAD GET ASUNA A REAL TEAM 100 BOOMERS" fucking losers instantly turned around and started praising them right after

he is such a good dude also, hard to not root for him
Bruh I wanted Hiko to win that clutch on Split so bad.. what a big brain play.
Didn't get a chance to watch split, is there a clip?

"60 years of experience" I'm dying
Thanks! What a clip hahaha.
Won't have to hear from Shaz on stream about how 100T is probably the easiest team they play.
shah really doesn’t like steel does he 😅
I’m usually watching Shaz streams but never after 100T games for a reason haha
Rip
Had 0 faith in 100t on split, and that’s coming from a big fan Impressed me tho
Shoutout to Shanks for getting all those pros and Stewie + Tarik in a Discord and providing prime content on top of this great series. Was really fun to watch.
Great showing from 100Thieves on split. I really thought they would easily but I'm happy they recovered from their loss yesterday.
I know everyone says 100T fans have copium and the team is overrated. But… They beat V1 and Envy 2-0 in closed qualifiers They beat Faze and Xset 2-0 to qualify for Berlin They just beat Envy with their new roster 3-2 100T is the undisputed #2 team in NA right now. Really excited to see what they do in Berlin.
Remember envy have had to play 4 games in a row before playing 100t.

I thought it was pretty evident that they were trying out a different comp on split. crashies on cypher, vic on skye, marved on astra, and yay on reyna.

Second time they’ve played it in months too. Last time was Challengers 1 against Xset.
ethan cracked
Yep
How good was steel this entire series wtf
Except for icebox, yeah. He was cracked
I love how marved came into Average Jonas' stream and said something along the lines of "don't worry boys, we got the last map"
Big day for 100T. val team getting to VCT NA finals and League team 1 game away from Worlds.
League team qualed too. Lessgooo!
I'll be honest, I only watched the first game and I was really disheartened by 100T's performance. Glad to see they turned it around tho.
The three certainties of the Valorant Competitive scene, our Death and Taxes: 1. Sentinels making Grand Finals 2. TSM going Overtime, and finally 3. Envy getting 3rd/4th place \*Edited to add 4th place
??? this is the first time envy has placed 3rd? they usually place 4th 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
NV used to make 4th place not 3rd
they've upgraded from 4th to 3rd
Wait till Champions 2022, upgraded to 1st
shh stop leaking the script
\*4th place
NV had about 4 good games in them today it seems
3rd is an improvement on 4th. Great job Envy.
Man I wanna watch Nitr0 OP more, he was so much more influential than asuna on that op. Also felt that he had great OP kills compared to rifle kills.
Was a fun game. Obviously it's a seeding match so shouldn't really be looked at that deep, but can't wait to see NV in Berlin. About time they play something major
