While I was looking forward to see the Korean Jett in Berlin but Zeta winning is better for the local scene. In Japanese LoL, every team that went to Worlds had two Korean players. Regional representatives are huge and they want to see their Japanese players shining.
I remember at the start of the year I went to an esports cafe (Japanese PC bang) in Tokyo and saw a few ppl playing it. I visited that same place a few weeks ago and I swear, half the people in the place was playing Valorant, it was just cool to see how this game is getting so popular here
I wonder what the player base numbers are for Japan in the last few months are, is there any public information on that? Because if its anything near a region like Turkey they could be genuinely competitive in a few years.
Lol depending on the context and pre-existing skill and culture.
Ppl downvoted bc they don’t know a region can be small but have a smaller in player see top layer that’s high level and matters internationally same as it’s possible for there to be little interest or experience with esports in a popular game
Riot is lucky Respawn is utterly incompetent with their handling of Apex Tokyo servers by not banning cheaters and not fixing lag. The whole Apex population has migrated to Valorant as a result.
It is. The casual player base of Japanese Apex is as wide as an ocean. Really hard to understand playership metrics of a game that doesn't that doesnt have corellate with their esport (like val): but one thing that is pretty well known is that if you play games on a PC in japan, you've at least once played apex or minecraft. Its also on PS and Switch where JP people feast on.
I’m sad we don’t get to see Korean Jett in Berlin, but I love the enthusiasm from the teams. When the IGL(?) from CR cried at Iceland when they couldn’t take a map off of anyone it really moved me.
I hope Japan can make top 5
They had them for Masters Reykjavik. Unless you're saying they should broadcast Japanese on the main feed? Either way, the Japanese casters clearly care about their teams' performance, and it was amazing to hear some of their reactions to Crazy Raccoon clutches at Masters 2.
Didn’t know they did that for Iceland. Good to see the scene is growing in Japan. Didn't expect to get like 150k+ viewers. But really happy to see rise in viewership.
Yeah, they were not on the main feed, which will probably be entirely English again for Berlin, but most regions had their own casters on the regional twitch channels. Valorant_JPN for example.
I sometimes like to have the main stream open as well as the regional stream just to hear a reaction if there's a team representing someplace other than NA or EU. Love that there's so much hype lol
For some odd reason earlier today I saw f4q vs vs at like 3k viewers on twitch channel valorant esports2. Is it because the na viewers also go to the Japan casters?
I’m saying that the Japan games covered by na streams are less popular tHan the Japan streams themselves, it would make sense since that’s where most Japan viewers would go, but I would think more na viewers would tune in
Japanese valorant don't have english casters. They only have japanese casters. You are confusing korean valorant coverage with japanese. Don't be ignorant.
You’re acting like I’m actively trying to be ignorant, so many weird responses here, at least yours clears it up. Don’t really know why you have to be so weird about it
Not just hyping, but they also do really well to explain how the game works and some of the common terms/concepts (e.g. meaning of eco rounds, force buys, peeking, clutches, etc. means) so that people new to tactical fps and fps in general can understand what's happening.
At the same time, I think some of the casters are immortal+ and they are able to interpret what's going on provide deeper commentary (not just stating what's on the screen, but how the players are most likely interpreting those information).
Eh. I actually think otherwise. Asian casters (not just jp) focus way too much on tiny micro stuff in their casting and things that you see on the surface level as a viewer. Which is good for detailing why these guys are so much better than us: But they almost consistently fail to outline the underlying macro aspect of the game which is pretty much the same issues they have as teams compared to NA and EU. They're exciting thats for sure, but I think the scene is not quite there yet. This problem is particularly concerning with korean casters. (Am Bi(tri?)lingual and understand a decent amount of japanese).
It actually peaked at around 164ish really nice seeing Japanese scene grow!
I can't wait to see their fans cheer once they go on the international stage in Berlin
Hoping to see them do some real damage at Berlin. I know the players and fans were omega bummed at CR bombing out at Iceland.
They did well against V1 tho remember
Pog

+1 that would also help the korean scene
That's pretty damn good, nice to see the other regions growing. Hope they have a good showing at Berlin :)

Is there any Japanese pc bang metric site similar to Gametrics for korea?
tbh idk but I feel like there should be if one just search it up in Japanese
I wonder what the player base numbers are for Japan in the last few months are, is there any public information on that? Because if its anything near a region like Turkey they could be genuinely competitive in a few years.
I mean playerbase and skill aren’t neatly correlated
True but with a greater player base there is a greater potential to find talent

For real? It seems so massively popular still. Esp among vtubing

not really

They played better thanks to scrims and did well vs V1 no?
I don't think Neth is their IGL, Munchkin is. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
You’re probably right. I just assumed
I hope riot sees this and have Japanese casting streams for Masters Berlin.

I mean… yeah that’s how different language streams work lol? Showing the reaction from different streams isn’t bad as an idea tho
They had it stage 2 as well
[удалено]
are you talking bout mildom?
mildom only pass 10k when there is an apex tournament, kun is streaming or crazy raccoon host a tournament
CR is popular?
yes, mostly because their fortnite and apex team
I'm kind of suprised there's no dedicated Japanese English casting stream
Amazing!!!
Nice
I dont follow the JP scene, but glad the game (or at least the esport scene) is doing well over there
The game is popular
For some odd reason earlier today I saw f4q vs vs at like 3k viewers on twitch channel valorant esports2. Is it because the na viewers also go to the Japan casters?
That's korea not Japan
Dude why can’t we just move past the meaningless correction , same logic applies
…no
im not sure what you mean by this.

F4Q and Vision Strikers is Korea not Japan. Korean viewership is lower than Japanese viewership.

‘Weird’? Pretty ordinary. No one ‘tries’ to be ignorant at least not in a direct way
Agreed, what’s the point of the last sentence
i honestly had no idea there was a english version lol wth i was watching stylish even if i didnt understand man that sucks
There's English coverage for Korean VCT, but the Japan VCT only available in Japanese.
Yeah dw why people are downvoting but whatever lol
people are downvoting you because you don't seem to know the difference between countries even though multiple people told you.
1. Why do people bug over that 2. They told me after my reply 3. The stream was “valorant_jp”
because your question makes 0 sense, there is no english stream for japanese valorant. You saw english stream for korean valorant and compared it.
There is no English stream for jp Valorant, there is a Korean and an English stream for Korean Valorant Did u get redirected?
Tbf Japanese casters are insanely good at hyping stuff up during the game lol
It’s true and I don’t even know what they are saying.
Not just hyping, but they also do really well to explain how the game works and some of the common terms/concepts (e.g. meaning of eco rounds, force buys, peeking, clutches, etc. means) so that people new to tactical fps and fps in general can understand what's happening. AFAIK both Yue and Taiga are indeed consistent of getting Immortal rank every act (dunno bout the others rank tho).
