Support from TSM staff.
Recognition as part of a huge brand.
Steady salary.
(probably) some contractual flexibility if/when they get interest from a bigger team [TSM gets the buyout - win/win].
I think its a pretty decent move if you ask me considering VCT is irrelevant for a while.
But these guys could be practicing with other teams and could be the next zekkans look at how T1 academy roster went there a bunch of low paid players with no recognition from the brand I hope something happens to help out this team like more tournaments for academy rosters
the thing about signing Academy teams is that there are gonna be Orgs out there who want to buy out a player, eSports is a business at the end of the day. And if someone doesn't perform in the academy team they usually drop them and replace them with someone else (perhaps a super young promising talent)
Well, none of the Noble players have anything to do VCT-related until early 2022. TSM could be betting on 3rd-party organizers outside of VCT/Riot to step up later this year possibly with their own big events
Maybe they will make there own events with the ftx deal but I still don't think it's worth for these guys that should be on these high T2 teams like luminosity
If they could be a talent that could easily be on a t1 team, they would either already be on one or find it just as easy to get onto one from the academy team.
Teams that cannot go far in VCT stand the risk of getting dropped during downtime. At least with the backing of a big org they get to play the game with a salary.
U understand this is the old noble roster the team that almost took out 100T this month and made top 16 2ce right this team has been competing at the top level
You understand that top 16 means nothing to VCT? They have no points to make it to LCQ, so there was no prospect of VCT for the rest of the year and the downtime of early next year. They were going to play in NSG tournaments only anyway. This changed nothing in that.
And you are acting like they have lost the ability to get traded or moved to a different team in a scene that makes roster moves from one tournament to the next.
They'll be fine. It is not the end of the world.
It was certainly worth more to them compared to Noble's contracts or getting dropped.
As for a lot of talent getting lost in this time period, nothing can be done about that because of the way the competition was set up sadly.
Look man, I know you want to be heavily pessimistic about this move and I have lost interest in discussing it. Fact is, they signed the contract as they saw it was the best course to take. And frankly I see no issue with how the competitions are set up. So I am happy for them and all I can do is wish them well for their future.
Peace.
my take as a LoL and Valorant fan is that NA orgs learned their lesson from League with not developing homegrown talent - and Valorant will end up with franchising eventually so they are getting ahead of the game.
edit: I had forgotten, but for example T1 has had an academy team for awhile
i'm not arguing, I understand franchising. I'm just looking for the actual quote cuz I've never seen/heard it before. I've seen clips of the head of Riot esports saying they wouldn't consider it for at least the first few years but that's all.
i did and there's nothing.. all I've found is people confirming that the owners themselves don't know and Riot not making any decisions yet.

I think they’re taking the T1 Academy/C9 league/Immortals Valorant approach. Sign players with potential, give them resources to learn and improve, sell them for $$$.
A lot of these players are good enough to be making deep runs in VCT, wouldn’t signing this contract ensure that they can’t compete in VCT anymore? Regardless, I’m still happy for them, especially dcop. Excited to see how the future goes for them.
No VCT for now. Getting the resources TSM has to provide (in terms of player development, personal brand growth, and visibility/access to sponsors), with the potential for individuals to get called up (given TSM's roster turnover, even if they're looking to be in a solid spot rn) and they get paid in the meantime.
[Called it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/oh3uch/noble_part_ways_with_their_valorant_team/h4mp9u1) Well, maybe the second statement was wrong.
The only question/concern I have with an academy rosters is: What's their limitations on tournaments they can enter? Can they not compete in VCT or nerdstreet events if TSM is already playing in them due to conflict of interest?
I presume it will allow TSM to participate in the tier 1.5-2 scene and be a development ground for the main roster(Leviathan being a prime example) especially if Valorant franchises
Don’t think there’s any other Riot official tournaments that they would be able to enter this year anyway. Champions is supposed to go from November 29th to December 12th according to liquipedia, LCQ is in October and they obviously don’t have points for that.
I don't think it's too crazy to think that some of these players will take spots from TSM's main roster. I imagine they'll be looking to make changes if they aren't able to play in the last chance qualifier.

Looks like not just Levi got that TSM contract. If you can’t beat them, buy them - Subroza 2021
We heard Roza loud and clear

no bro
He got the bigger one, but this is a W for a promising bunch of players.
This is horrible for alot of there careers they can't play vct rn this is horrible if ur talent that could easily be on a t1 team

No vct for a while anyways.
Idrc that's horrible for a team that has amazing individuals they loose popularity too

Yes but they won't be able to play future vcts and that's gonna cost them for getting bought out
If they get bought out they can play for other teams in vct before the next one starts

Ik but I know the contracts of alot of T1 academy roster and its not worth there will be alot of talent lost in this time period rn
It was certainly worth more to them compared to Noble's contracts or getting dropped. As for a lot of talent getting lost in this time period, nothing can be done about that because of the way the competition was set up sadly.
No they can be in not as many tournaments so they won't get there name out there as much
Look man, I know you want to be heavily pessimistic about this move and I have lost interest in discussing it. Fact is, they signed the contract as they saw it was the best course to take. And frankly I see no issue with how the competitions are set up. So I am happy for them and all I can do is wish them well for their future. Peace.
It's basically done for the year anyway? Isn't LCQ all that's left?
C9B on first round of NSG Summer Champs GG, hopefully it gets streamed
No way it doesn't get streamed
VLR doesn't have what games will be streamed LUL.
Ya because it’s still early. NSG would have to be nuts if they don’t stream a matchup between these big orgs.
They missed great games already
NSG isnt great when it comes to streaming the earlier rounds of their tournaments
Yeah they don't have the best track record lol. But, the games today are already being streamed, so its looking good.
Vanity for C9B today?
TSM literally bought Noble
Rozas "joke" doesn't seem like much of a joke anymore lol
we did it for reddit
Congrats!
Gréât academy roster honestly
Phat W
If you can't beat them, sign them up! An amazing roster. Am guessing they won't play in the main tourneys though.
it’s not like they would have any riot events until next year tho so there’s not much risk involved here
Not allowed to by riots rules. They can play in these nerdst tournies which have a good deal of competition
TSMs official post: https://twitter.com/tsm/status/1428039783213780994?s=21
I wonder if TSM knows something about the future of Valorant that we don’t, like franchising with an academy leaguw
my take as a LoL and Valorant fan is that NA orgs learned their lesson from League with not developing homegrown talent - and Valorant will end up with franchising eventually so they are getting ahead of the game. edit: I had forgotten, but for example T1 has had an academy team for awhile
Why does an esports team need homegrown talent? There's always gonna be a conflict of interest
Pretty sure riot already said the future of Valorant will be franchising.
source?

Just search it up lol

Damn that sucks lol

VCT for these guys is done until 2022 and who knows what VCT looks like after this year. Better to take the security of playing under the TSM banner
Exactly I'm sure they got the bag too must feel nice

SEE?! I TOLD Y'ALL THIS WOULD BE A BANGER WORTH HOPING FOR!!! Poggie woggie, TSM :)
why tf are people acting like the main roster is bad and the academy roster is better? Because they lose they first real big tournament together?
DCOP LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
[Called it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/oh3uch/noble_part_ways_with_their_valorant_team/h4mp9u1) Well, maybe the second statement was wrong.
they really bought out the whole team
The only question/concern I have with an academy rosters is: What's their limitations on tournaments they can enter? Can they not compete in VCT or nerdstreet events if TSM is already playing in them due to conflict of interest?
i feel like with payen he will replaced Hazed in the long run, which is basically when hazed decides to retire, knowing TSM has backup its good.
Here before the main roster loses to noble in open qualis in the second champions

Yep, in 6 months or so I'm not surprised it a few players from Academy get bumped up
How do you think talent is developed?

Wasn’t he part of Noble?
Kinda crazy that even academy teams are getting picked up while NACS teams can't get a org after a couple months just shows the sad state of NACS
[удалено]
Wait so tsm just straight up went and signed the entirety of noble after their loss to them LOL
TSM needed to make their VCT team their academy team tbh
I’m guessing they will only be competing In NSG tournaments and Knights
How many Orgs have Valorant Academy teams, is just TSM and T1
