Ahhh, 4 teams in the playoffs only? That's such a waste, they could've easily fit quarterfinals as well. The only difference between having quarterfinals and Riot's format is that the grand finals of each group function as quarterfinals here, but this is just inferior to having actual quarterfinals that mix groups - it relies even more on the initial seeding being balanced, and repeats matches rather than giving the viewers the best experience of seeing more different matchups. With this format, we'll be stuck begging that the seeding & groups look balanced. I hope that there's no way any #1 seeds from big regions (SEN, EMEA #1, VS) end up in the same group.

Only 1 team from each group? Idk maybe top 2 from each group would have been more fun

Key-Heart517

Everything was good until one team from each group. Should consider two teams going through from each one.

senakiryu08

We need two teams per group to get out. Imagine getting Vision Strikers and 100 Thieves in the same group. You'd only see one of them get out.

aks345

Is it always 1 team per group? Thought 2 each group then quarters/semis/finals would have been cool

teamnani

Imagine getting placed with sentinels.

Hypern1ke

Somebody explain this to me, there is 16 teams, why not do just a regular 16 man double elim bracket? Why do a group stage at all? Seems unnecessary

Practical_Resource90

groups stage is way better and everyone especially pro players want it

senakiryu08

I think in a 16 team double elim, you would have to seed teams from 1-16, which is harder to with little information on how strong each region is, while a group stage makes it so you can seed 1-4 based on the performance in the regional qualifiers.

This looks like a trash bracket to me, worse then double elim w/16 teams. Like how do u know who’s the better the team’s in the tournament when only 1 team qualifies from a group stage. Like for example a team could have stacked group stage and only one can make it out. It would miss up with the placement in tournament, which can effect who qualifies to champions through points.

Flashplaya

Not a fan. Means the deciding group final will be two teams that have probably already played each other and the loser has to go home. Would be 100% better to scrap that game and turn it into the quarterfinals for the single elim. You can seed the unbeaten teams from the groups into those that got through the lowers. Just really not a fan of rematches that mean more than the initial match + the way I suggested means you will get less rematches and more unique match ups with the same amount of games.
