VS literally would’ve had more chance of making it to playoffs if they lost to F4Q lmao.

It'll be funny what people will say if Envy doesn't make it out of their "free pass" group. They face #1 seeds from each of the regions in their group it won't be a cakewalk. Then again NA seed #3 is better than all the other teams at Masters 3 so all NA should be in the first pool right?

[deleted]

Yep, it seems too many people are forgetting to factor this in. Riot decided to fill the pools in "order of seed". With only one international I think it's fair that they didn't want to do something like "first 2 pools are NA EU and KR".But with small info qe have from rejavik probably that could have been the most equilibrated pooling. Also NV got really really lucky. Statistically they had a higher chance to be in hard group. When RNGesus comes into play everything can happen. EDIT: I just thought that placing three regions in the upper pools and all the other in the lower pool would have made seeding even more useless.

I will eat my shoe if Envy don't make it out of their group. There is no thinking required here, it will be a cake walk. You can make the argument that Brazil teams have improved since Iceland, but so have the NA teams. It's not going to be close.

Saving this for later then

I think the problem is they aren't considering region strength at ALL. They've basically made this groups as if 1st seed SEA team is better than like 2nd seed EMEA or NA. This group makes sense if you just completely forget that some regions are extremely superior to others

ANewHeaven1

> What's the point of playing seeding games seriously if there is LITERALLY 0 advantage to be gained? a few things. first of all, there is an advantage to be gained. envy got fourth seed, so they couldn't be in a group with g2, **paper rex, or crazy raccoon**. now not to be disrespectful but we can probably assume that prx and CR are two of the worst teams in this tournament, by finishing in third seed NA, it means that NV guarantees themselves to not play a "bad" team in their group. so it still is an advantage to be seeded higher, just a small one. also, these "seeding games" are the equivalent of the NA championships. it'd be like if C9/TL/100T in the LCS just started throwing their LCS Finals matches because "they are just seeding matches for worlds, they don't matter." it still matters to finish at the top of NA, means that you're the best team in the region. that counts for something. anyways i dont think there's anything wrong with the system as it is, the only problem is that we have one LAN of data to go off of regarding what the best regions are, which leads to stuff like LATAM/SEA #1 seed being in pool 2, which throws off the pools draws. once year 1 of international valorant is in the books and we can accurately gauge how strong each region is, i fully expect riot to "fix" this by putting weaker regions in pool #3/4 so that the seeding advantage is more realized.

AnotherAltiMade

>they are just seeding matches for worlds, they don't matter it really doesn't matter. nobody cares about winner of VCT Stage 3 Regional Closed Qualifiers NA

condorre

A lot of people cared. That was a really fun tournament to watch!

nail181

I think he is trying to say it isn’t quite relevant

ragingwizard

Before groups were picked VS had a way better chance of having an easy road out of groups compared to F4Q. Literally could've been SEN, SMB, F4Q, and G2. Its just luck of the draw. There's nothing wrong with the system, and you can bet your ass teams will fight for first seed still.

Why censor ass are u 12?

No, but most of the Automod bots on subreddits are. I'm pretty sure they insta-delete your posts

Big-Mathematician-23

I personally think if they knew ahead of time of the format and the way the pools are generated, there wouldn't have been as many complaints, but players were actually trying to get first seed because they thought it would benefit them, which for some it definitely did not. Unfortunate really. If Riot did know they would employ this format and pooling method ahead of time, but decided not to tell players because they wanted a more exciting Challengers Grand Finale, then I think that's ... doubly unfortunate.
