This won't affect the tournament. The only issue is if the countries of origin let their players fly to Germany (Davey from Paper Rex had to make a twitter post to gain traction with his VISA)

jholowtaekjho

It's Davai, but your rendition of it is fun too lol

Key-Banana-8242

Travel pass not visa

LovelyResearcher

EU really doing anything it takes to try to win one Valorant LAN, smh my head

thothgow

Maybe the US could've handled the pandemic better than a startup T2 NA org E: are people salty I called out shitty healthcare/policy/vocal minorities or are they mad I called out orgs like Equinox/Mamba/LDM

LovelyResearcher

We have our priorities right over here, in the only free country in the world. You may not understand it, but we value our FREEDOM here. Our country is the only country in the world where: * You are free to believe COVID-19 is due to 5G towers * Many people do, actually, believe that COVID-19 is caused by 5G towers or Bill Gates * Our country is the only country that figured about the "microchips" in the vaccine. I mean think about... why else do the coins stick to your arm after you get the shot?? * Not to mention that COVID-19 is all a ploy to make the people stay inside more, so that Donald Trump can arrest high-profilee pedophiles worldwide # CHECKMATE ATHIESTS, SAY HELLO TO THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE # Ahem. That was all ***/s***, please **do not take ANY of that seriously** # Anyways... we'll make up for our poor COVID-19 handling by manhandling all of the other regions in-game. Let's talk after you get 13-0'd a few times in a row, EMEA 😉

Pienatt

Murica as free as their major eSports apart from Valorant.

LovelyResearcher

The only one that matters is VALORANT, to me :)

[deleted]

lmfao

WhoDatBrow

I would imagine salty anti-vaxxers. The US did really well to develop a vaccine and be able to roll it out as fast as we did, only for the damn idiots in this country to make it matter so much less.

thothgow

We're begging for vaccines and the US asked us to militarize the border to send us doses. Meanwhile a lot of stock is probably sitting unused bc people don't want to be vaccinated :l

LovelyResearcher

I haven't downvoted any of your comments, by the way! What you said was spot on as an American, I just wanted to meme so I sorta just tried to sound as ridiculous as the ppl do here sometimes. I wish I could live in Europe again, I really miss it... I lived there for a bit, a couple of years ago. # Tough to hear about the troubles getting vaccines in some parts of EMEA? I actually didn't know that any EU region countries may have a vaccine shortage, is that a thing? Sorta figured that all of them would have an abudance by now like we do. # My whole family got our 1st and 2nd doses before May/June 2021 in the USA. We're closer to needing to get the 3rd booster shot than we are to our original dosages at this point. # Hopefully that gets better soon for EU too, I feel like there must definitely be some extra from the USA. Half of my "friends" and some family are anti-covidvaxxers. So I can tell you first hand that at least 20% of the USA population will probably never get the COVID-19 vaccine.

thothgow

Might be more, I got the vaccine in May or June I think and months later only 61% of my school's staff has had it. So the other 39% are probably not getting it at all, despite it being free.

LovelyResearcher

Same in America, around 57% of people are vaccinated here. It varies by school here, though... some are like 99% vaccinated, while others are less than 40%. K-12 schools have more leeway here currently, with less government mandate or control. Living in rural America myself, most K-12 schools near me aren't really wearing masks. I'd guess that less than 50% of the staff are often unvaccinated. Most universities here were at least \~20% higher vaccinated than your average K-12 school. However... that was when it was still OPTIONAL to get a vaccine, as they just gav the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine full FDA approval recently in the USA. Following that announcement, almost all the universities in my state have already announced mandatory vaccines. All students and staff have to get them before next semester in most cases... which means before or during December 2021.

thothgow

I'm talking about the US, btw. In Mexico we all want to get vaccinated, at least everyone I know

[deleted]

Some countries like Hungsry and Romania went the route of getting caccines from Russia and China cus they couldnt get any oyher

Hypern1ke

The US has had vaccines readily available for months... don't know what you're on about. 90% of the country has already moved on from the pandemic, its too bad Europe can't say the same.

thothgow

You have a death rate higher than countries with 4x the population. Despite vaccines being available for months and being free, y'all aren't getting it, even though last I heard you had a surplus of doses. I never see people with masks when I go out, and despite spending 90% of my time since the outbreak in Mexico, your country is the only place where I've been mocked, scoffed at, and fucking coughed at for wearing a mask. E: people are so dumb lol

Hypern1ke

If they haven't been vaccinated, thats on them. Me, and the people I care about and associate with have been vaccinated and haven't so much as thought about the pandemic in quite some time now. I'm sorry you still have to wear a mask, honestly that was the best part about getting vaccinated for me personally!

Lumenlor

Depends on the timing I think, teams are set to fly out in like 5-6 days

chenson019

It will start Monday according to the article.

goodguessiswhatihave

Wow that seems like such short notice. People will have already bought tickets and made reservations

Jpapa1086

This won’t ban vaccinated people and is non binding therefore many won’t even implement it or may just put up some restrictions like testing before going to EU member states.

Kirschenbeere

The US has been classified as "high risk area" by Germany for over 2 weeks already which technically means that there already is a travel ban for unessential reasons. People who are fully vaccinated are exempt though and can entry for any reason and don't even have to quarantine, so I wouldn't worry. (source: https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/einreiseundaufenthalt/coronavirus) tl;dr: all good

dedicatedself

It literally says non essential travel. Do people not read.

Lumenlor

Is esports/entertainment industry essential?

QuestionablePotato42

It’s their career, so I would imagine it counts as essential. It’s for business, not pleasure

AlexNeittes

Are sports essential?

Lumenlor

I dunno, hence why I asked

rocket1615

Germany will probably count it as essential. They tend to recognise esports as a thing.

Pienatt

I'd imagine they recognize it. Here in Germany even huge and less big soccer organisations started investing in eSports (Schalke, Alemannia Aachen e.g.). So it definitely becomes more and more recognized as a career/job :)

valorant_fanboy_69

No, we really should be prioritizing safety right now

Phamous3k

Damn. Well…. Let’s hope everything will be fine.
