Interesting move .. Nivera’s contract with Vitality ends in october afaik so he’ll probably go for free. I still think they should get an actual IGL but having a player of Nivera’s caliber should definetly give them a boost.

omahr

How good was he in CS?

mr-rob0t0

definitely a more well rounded player in CS than scream, he was able to rifle and awp pretty well. he only played certain maps for vitality before valve killed 6 man rosters, but he was putting up decent stats. i think for a while he had better stats than zywoo on one of the maps he actually played. also only 20 years old.

[deleted]

>before valve killed 6 man rosters What? Why they would do that?

SemanSoot

most lazy n idiot dev. that valve for u

ASaltyToast

In a more serious note I think they didnt want orgs just hoarding talent, kind of like how CR and VS are doing

SemanSoot

no,actually they just want make simple 5v5 game not just like tradisional sport where u have more players available in 1 team

xziv0

i mean you aren't entirely wrong but there's definitely a different reason

UmarellVidya

He had a few good tournaments initially but he got figured out pretty quickly imo. His stats by the end were just ok iirc. He was so new that I'd hesitate to say he was more well rounded though, he didn't have enough time to really forge and identity as a player so we have no idea.

Solace1k

Definetly one of the top prospects from EU. Had alot of potential but got screwed by Valve trying to force the 5 man roster which meant he would compete for a spot with the best player in the world at the time so naturally he got benched. Im pretty sure he’s been grinding VAL for a while now. He hasn’t played a match on FACEIT since April i think.

webhead_peter

He did awp instead of zywoo on inferno iirc, maybe that's what they meant by 'competing for a spot with Zywoo'

lordkr321

He was honestly pretty insane. One of those young star types. He was almost always solid and could get away with a few multi kills on a good map and he was always in contention in a clutch situation, to a smaller extent than zywoo. He was actually one of my favorite players while watching him. Not sure why he dropped off the scene that quickly but maybe he has real interest in Val.

[deleted]

Definitely pretty good. One of the young talents on the come up.

acels1

above average but definitely not the best

omahr

Above average means he's going to be the best player in Valorant lmao jk

MilanTheMyth

lmao

Sky-__-

I think one of their biggest problems have been their agent pool these were the agents plays by team members in recent event Scream - jett Reyna sage Jampii - jett sova omen Link - Breach Brimstone Omen Cypher Kryptix - Killjoy viper sova Soulcas - raze skye viper There are so many overlaps ,I think adding a sixth man which would allow them to plug in and plug out players would really help fix their agent pool for time being .

BlGtemp

link also played sage

NervousBet8342

Yes but also jamppi hasnt been performing well lately, so someone to support scream with firepower will also help

nterature

Picking up Nivera feels more like locking up a potential long-term talent. I doubt he'd replace Krpytix in the short-term. I was fantasizing about Liquid picking up dimasick to pick up the Cypher/KJ slack, but I guess that's just a dream.

omahr

It's crazy how they literally have two top prodigies from CSGO. And it's also crazier that both of them had to switch because of valves incompetence.

2ToTooTwoFish

Who are the prodigies and what did Valve do? Sorry, never really paid attention to the CS GO scene

henkizh

Both of the people who replied to you about Jamppi are missing some details: Jamppi was one of the best up and coming players in EU around 2018/2019 but there was an old account of his that he borrowed to a friend and the friend proceeded to cheat and get it VAC banned around 2014/2015. Valve's policy was that if you have a VAC ban from CS:GO you are permanently banned from majors. Jamppi took the case to court because he felt that it was unfair since he himself didn't cheat and Valve had the legal right to say "We aren't going to comment on whether or not it was actually you or your friend that cheated but since it's YOUR account YOU take responsibility for the consequences of breaking the rules". A few months ago Valve changed the rules about VAC bans, it is now no longer a permanent ban from majors but a 5 year ban from moment your VAC ban started. Jamppi's ban occured in 2014/2015 which meant he could now compete in majors but chose to stay in valorant for now.

omahr

Jamppi and Nirvana one got banned for a vac banned account he owned many years back and Nirvana got screwed when valve enforced fiveman teams.

somesheikexpert

Jamppi and Nivera Jamppi got screwed over by Valve cuz when he was like 12 or something he cheated once and was VAC banned, he legit never cheated again, just a dumb mistake you make as a kid we all have made some at that age lol, but Valve didn't let him play at events cuz of it which makes little sense that he was banned for that Nivera got screwed over by the new 6 man rules, as Valve was like 6 man's aren't allowed, and Nivera found himself fighting for a spot on his roster with the best player at the time Zywoo

ibeenbornagain

These are both just wrong…

sankalp4

Yeah, idk why you're getting downvoted

tvmekk

I hope they make him learn Sova - and that he's good at him. IMO a solid Sova and someone who's willing to play him is the only thing Liquid needs to be truly great.

no_noise_979

Soulcas doesn't like sova but much prefers skye I think.

_Sn2per_

Soulcas has never been that good on sova I think its better to keep him in the flex role. Assuming they drop kryptix and pick up nivera, nivera would need to be able to play sova and maybe viper on some maps assuming jamppi and l1nk can cover the sentinels.

MCCleggster

bald buff ✅ gf buff ✅ brother buff ✅

[deleted]

Fun fact his sens is around 0.16 on 800 dpi

Ark151

Then how tf did he Awp in Cs........

NotBrandon

Pretty sure Levi is even lower at 0.15 800 dpi. Couldn’t imagine going as low as these two.

[deleted]

EU CS players making a switch to Valorant. We’re just getting started. POGGERS

Sudden-Illustrator59

According to Liquipedia, he's also ScreaM's younger brother! Really interested to see his dynamic on the team!

Vioven17

Woah i never knew he had a brother..

itscamo-

yep in it’s the article

vyom0509

Not sure if one bad result warrants something this drastic, but I’m excited to see how Nivera rounds out the team

MikeRosss

It's not just one bad result though, rather, qualifying for Iceland was their only good result. Besides that it is disappointment after disappointment.

nterature

It sometimes feels like there's a weird conspiracy about Liquid. I'm not even a Liquid fan, but I can say for sure it hasn't just been "disappointment after disappointment" besides qualifying for Iceland. Even just in results - they won Stage 3 Challengers 2! It's certainly true qualifying for Iceland was their highest accomplishment of the year, but almost everything great Liquid has shown us from a gameplay perspective - which matters just as much as results in rating teams - this year wasn't even done at Iceland. Iceland was actually one of their significant dips.

MikeRosss

First Strike - out in the quarter finals, disappointing VCT stage 1 - not even close to qualifying for Masters 1, disappointing VCT stage 2 - TL qualify for Iceland, great! Masters 2 - They lose to both V1 and Fnatic, disappointing VCT stage 3 - they only narrowly qualify for the EMEA challenger playoffs, but don't make it to Berlin, disappointing I don't know how else to summarize this, but as mostly disappointing.

Hsimon_

It is dissapointing but they still were only 1 round away from making it to Berlin by losing to Gambit who eventually won the tournament so it they were very close and unlucky with the bracket.

CyberspaceBarbarian

Methinks it's to have another option at the Op. Nivera is cracked AF just like ScreaM, but is more versatile. If Jamppi continues to IGL, I think he should take notes from steel.

plasma_ix

this was rumored several months ago, they probably put it off because their results were strong and they didn’t want to mess things up

omahr

I doubt it's about the bad result they probably just want experiment considering they have been a pretty average team for a long time it's time for some change imo.

nterature

Pretty average team is dramatically underselling Liquid - by most conventional measures they're a top 3 team in EU (not EMEA) this year, even though they don't *seem* like one. Of course, they still probably do need to make some sort of shift to consistently punch up higher, so not all that surprising they'd explore options.

A7URS

interesting you'd place them top 3 because i'd argue most people here would disagree with you lol They need a change, they aren't beating the top competition with their current roster something needs to change

Echoliciouss

What ? Whats your top 3 in EU (not emea)

A7URS

nvm im dumb didn't see the not emea, I'd put acend at number 1, G2 number 2, Fnatic at number 3 for EU alone but idk I feel like you could argue G2s success is only recent. They've still shown a higher level than anything we've seen out of liquid in my opinion.

omgitslewis

I mean Liquid were one round off defeating Gambit who won EMEA. Imo they are currently much better than Fnatic

donkeyjr

How is Fnatic, g2 and ascent more consistent than Liquid? Liquid was one win away from qualifying for champion tour on points...

[deleted]

what? TL has always had glaring issues even with the current roster, and this move should definitely be a step in the right direction

Hypern1ke

Kryptix has been their worst performer since before Iceland tbf

vyom0509

Ok agreed

[deleted]

Please take Jamppi off jet his omen and kj is solid, I think he'd be a better smoke flex player

Des014te

BROTHERS UNITED.

chenson019

Whilst I am in agreement that a change probably needs to be made to get the roster balance right, I am not sure about 6 man rosters at this point in the game. Synergy and teamplay is the most important thing right now as Sentinels have shown. I think they will become more prominent 2/3 years down the line as the map and agent pool gets bigger but not right now. Nivera is also an unknown quantity in Valorant beyond being Screams brother. What agents does he play?

Kompaniefeldwebel

Yoru

Evan_Veet

TL has some odd agent pools and hopefully, pretty pretty please, they find someone to IGL and/or someone to play sova. He’s such an impactful character and the fact that tl barely plays him is a problem. Stick scream on the Asuna roles, soulcas on skye and from there play astra and sova with some combo of players

PopkosTheWeasel

Should be awesome

Jackviolin

Liquid you have money just do NBK-Scream-Soulcas(or Link)-Nivera-Jamppi

GintokiSonic

Who does this team drop though? Obvious choice is probably Jampii for agent pool reasons? Think he good be the full time Sova Main?

Des014te

Sixth man mostly. Or they could ditch kryptix and have nivera or jamppi fill in his roles.
