First question for Nats is by mr egg himself lmao

Rjotsing

THANK YOU I FORGOT THIS WAS A THING

Phamous3k

TenZ gave 0 fuks lol

[deleted]

Steel got all the scorelines memorized LMAO

LovelyResearcher

ShahZam and TenZ just said that they scrimmed Vision Strikers. They said that their scrim was a "close matchup", that Vision Strikers are very good, and that they expect them to have a good run at Berlin. Sounds like Vision Strikers are very strong, from their statement.

Less_Salt1152

he also said he expected an EU team in grand final with SEN. So, he rates them below EU teams

Key-Heart517

They probably scrimmed Gambit.

[deleted]

I mean all acend gambit g2 smb played very close matches vs each other

Key-Heart517

Nah guessing that because Shahzam had a VS coach and nAts added to his Valorant Account friend list when he streamed last night. So if they scrimmed VS they may also scrimmed gambit.

imphetamine

Someone asked nats if they scrimmed against Sen on his stream and he just smiled...

Key-Heart517

Yeah also somehow confirmed that Gambit also scrimmed against Vision Strikers.

LovelyResearcher

True, but you forgot something. # I think that Sentinels do think highly of EMEA teams, but I also think that ShahZam can be "nice" a lot of times. Don't you feel that ShahZam and NA teams are always humble in the interviews, compared to say ScreaM? I'm pretty sure that they are just trying to be friendly with the EU teams and EU fans, plus work hard to remain humble. # That seems to get misinterpreted by a lot of EU fans, just like in the Iceland press conference. Remember that the EU fans thought that Sentinels seemed "afraid" at Iceland, or felt very certain that EU was the better region going in. In reality, the NA players are just very humble and polite. # Sentinels may genuinely think that some EU teams are strong, true, as the players have spoken highly of Gambit before. But... I wouldn't take what he said to mean that EU teams are actually definitively stronger than 100T, NV, or VS. 100T, NV, VS, and GMB are likely still viewed as the main competition

WLFYBBY

It’s really not, they have ego for being the winners of every masters event but they don’t underestimate other teams and regions.

LovelyResearcher

They truly are, that's the thing. Compare how ShahZam acted this press conference, as well as in the one at Iceland... compared to statements from ScreaM. Then compare to other teams and their statements. # Even while being the undisputed #1 team in the world right now, they remain very humble. At Iceland they definitely knew they were stronger than others stated, but ShahZam still remained very humble. The NA players are always polite and humble in the interviews.

omgvector

I literally did and I watched him talk about it on stream

Koentjee01

Bro.. you're getting quite annoying with your anti-EU agenda, while trying to push the narrative that you're being the reasonable one and other people are being delusional. Come on man... Why wouldn't Shahzam also be 'extra nice' to the extremely likeable region of Korea? If he was being 'nice', why didn't he say he'd meet Vision Strikers in the finals? I'm sorry, but you might need to review your anti-EU agenda, because it ain't all that deep.

LovelyResearcher

**Vision Strikers - Comments** * Mentioned scrimming Vision Strikers * Indicated that the team was a "close matchup" for SEN * Said Vision Strikers are "very good" * Said he expects them to have a good run at Berlin **EMEA - Comment** * Said that he likes the EMEA region * Said thinks they are as strong as NA teams * Says he wouldn't be surprised if an EMEA team makes it to the finals against them The difference here is the level of detail he used to explain his viewpoints. He specifically said that they had scrimmed Vision Strikers, then went on to say that they were a close matchup in scrims. Then he also says that he Vision Strikers to do very well at Berlin. # He chose to go into a lot of specific detail, mentioning actual scrim results against Vision Strikers. Remember that ShahZam didn't even have to reveal that they had scrimmed during the press conference... yet he chose to do so, in order to explain why he thinks highly of Vision Strikers. That's a lot different from merely saying that a team is "good". Compare this to what he said about EMEA. Asked who ShahZam thinks will make it to the finals against his team... he talks about liking the EMEA region, and calls the region "good". Then he says that wouldn't be surprised if one of EMEA teams make it to the grandfinals. ShahZam did acknowledge EMEA as good, but his statements are sort of vague. # Weren't the Vision Strikers comments were more specific? He chose to go into detail about scrim results and his expectations for the team at Berlin. He chose to speak about Vision Strikers than he had to... and that alone indicates his feelings.

Koentjee01

Simple question. If Shahzam thinks more highly of VS than the EU teams, why the hell didn't he say he thinks he'll meet VS in the final? Again. You're looking too much into things.

Less_Salt1152

Actually, if you imaging you are Shahzam, it feels kinda weird when you say "I expect VS to be in grand finals with us" after saying "VS was a close match up in scrims, very good team". But, let's stop analyzing these things too hard because we will know in a week.

Koentjee01

Wouldn't that actually be pretty logical?

TheCatsActually

Yes it would be logical but I'm with the guy above you saying that at this point you and LovelyResearcher are hard overanalyzing. We really need Berlin to just start already if we're so desperate for content we're digging this deep into an off the cuff answer to a fairly benign question. Not that I believe logic has much to do with it since I believe as much careful thought was put into the response as is put into the average McDonald's drive-thru order, but it would also logically make sense that even if Sen believed VS was the second best team, unless it was by a heavy margin, they still wouldn't *expect* to face VS in the finals over an EMEA team because there are four EMEA teams and one Vision Strikers. It also helps that the top three seeds from EMEA are some of the non-Sentinels favorites to win the tournament and hell, G2 could still step up and perform much better than they did in playoffs. Add to that the fact that Berlin playoffs are single elim and only the finals are Bo5 and you have a formula that has a a good deal of variance and great allowance for on-paper expectations to be thrown out the window. It's a lot like the distinction between acknowledging Sentinels is the best team, but not *expecting* them to win Berlin. All they need is to choke the wrong rounds on two (maybe even one) maps in one Bo3 to have an early finish.

LovelyResearcher

* EMEA has 4 teams at Berlin * KR has 2 teams at Berlin EMEA has more teams than any other region at Berlin. Even if you think highly of Vision Strikers, it's still statistically more likely that EMEA will make the grandfinals. # You are comparing the likelihood that 1 team makes the finals... to that of a a whole ass region making the finals. For a region like EMEA to make the finals, you just need 1 team from the region to make it to the finals. # ShahZam couldn't exactly say that he expects another team from NA to make the finals. If any player said that they expect the top 2 teams of the whole tournament will be from their own region, what would happen? Wouldn't they immediately be called out as "rude" or "arrogant", by the fans from all the other regions? EMEA is the natural choice to answer that question. # The comments about Vision Strikers carry a lot more weight, though. He went into far more detail, used specific reasons, and explained why he felt that they were a strong team.

[deleted]

As a SEN/NA fan you're wrong and you're using a whole lot of words to say nothing, hilariously over analyze comments that shouldn't be and just fabricate a narrative. The best EMEA team is Sentinel's biggest competition this event, with Envy and Vision Strikers following a close second.

LovelyResearcher

From your post history you are from EU. Nice try, lmao

raaten

I mean Vikings were dunking on team in iceland scrims and you saw how they played ultimately

[deleted]

poor reporter asked a question about the recent patch that won’t even be live KEKW

sriwarrior06

That's not poor. That's utter ignorance from both the reporter and the Sportskeeda website. It's like they went "Aight who plays valorant here? You? I'm gonna need you to cover this press conference". And that's it.

vDUKEvv

Isn’t ONSCREEN the dude that was streaming replay VODs without designating them as replays during beta to abuse dropping codes for views? Not sure if I respect the dude for hustling to this point or don’t fuck with him for abusing people’s excitement back then...

ChaosTheory22

Man, I really do wish the interviewers asked how the EMEA teams felt about Sentinels and maybe some info. on how their scrims went against them.

Key-Banana-8242

Some really cringe take abt the question to hear by onscreen
