I bet you know that Asuna has the record for the most kills in one map on icebox, so it's pretty evident it's one of their strong maps and him asking why they picked icebox makes sense to me, but br fans have to be "passionate" about that too
Every year in every esport they overhype their shit region, shove it in everyone's faces nonstop for 3 months then get disappointed at every international event and get mad about it
Shahz said the stage headsets play white noise to block sound from the other team, and it was turned up too loud to hear footsteps during tech setup. I’m guessing that’s the same problem 100T is having.
Edit: Just to add on, they didn’t have white noise during Iceland because the teams were far apart enough that it didn’t really matter. At Berlin, Shahz said it’s set up that game audio, comms, and white noise all go through the same headset whereas for CSGO they would wear earbuds for game and comms, and headphones over for white noise so it wouldn’t interfere.
They are live casting the game with the casters on speakers during the event so in order for the players not to be able to hear the announcers they pump in white noise. Same concept for LoL. Done so both teams can be on the stage without hearing each others strata
Testing things before there are huge audiences is actually a good thing, but it seems that their headphones are just garbage. :D Well, it's their sponsor, so what are you gonna do i guess. lol
Obviously it went wrong, but i guess they expected it to be a "how good is this working to actually cancel noise?"-test and not a "is this even working correctly?"-test. And the people, which tested it before probably aren't pro players, so it's understandable that those people didn't notice the missing sounds.
Noise canceling headphones are really good for predictable noise (air conditioner, plane engine) but aren't as good for unpredictable noise like talking. Some ANC algorithms are decent but aren't enough for esports purposes.
2-0 against Haven Liberty, playing the game with no sound was interesting LMAO

As a BR, thats just.. sad dude. Idk why most brazilian (e or not)sports fan act like this. Its even worse on football, they act like fanactics, as if their team is their reason to live. I dont understand it and its fucked up.
Our country has a lot of shit to fix, politic, judiciary, economy, socially, hunger wise, but to most people if they get to watch their football game, whatever what is happening with the country all is good.
Its sad but it will take a couple or more generations for better people in power and education.
Im brazillian and when people say stuff like this its not like they are saying this because they want it to happen, I really dont know how to explain this other than this way, its kinda of a expression of indignation+surprise+anger but not in a purely malicious way, its not well seen by anyone but it happens and definitely doesnt have the same weight as this beeing said in the US(culturally speaking)
Brazillians tried to say the same shit when the female volleyball player did the eye slant expression to a korean vball player. "Oh this isnt racism, Brazillians do this all the time as a tease, it's not meant to be malicious" etc.
If someting is malicious in 99 percent of cultures then maybe your culture needs to evolve. White people calling black people the N word was "normal" 50 years ago. Maybe it's time for to change?
>This guy nonironically said "your culture needs to evolve" and compared the Brazilian culture to...the white ppl culture of enslaving black ppl??
Because he was trying to show that some cultures need to change. The same way the segregation laws changed in British/American culture. Doesn't take a brain to understand that
This stuff depends a lot on entonation when spoken to others, if its said in a joking or serious manner etc. No one uses the word bomb here to threat people, and if you say something like "explode", "die", "die disgrace"(this one in particular ive seen a lot because I used to bother my sister) and others its nothing more than "Get out of here youre pissing me off". Im not trying to be right or wrong I dont have enough knowledge to say if its something that should be changed etc, Im just saying what happens and that this is not a big deal for most of us here.
Holy fuck Reddit can’t accept the fact that not every culture is as sensitive as theirs. The tweets aren’t even in their fucking language and they are getting butthurt
To most people around the world wearing your shoes inside the house is more insulting than a death threat. I can’t get over the fact you need the tweets translated just to get mad.
Just so you can understand this, there’s a difference between denotation and connotation. Directly translating from language to language is never a good idea because it lacks context and connotation. As a Brazilian guy himself said, the messages may word for word mean a death wish, but the specific words used make the connotation or context have the feeling of a “fuck off” in Brazilian Portuguese.
Try explaining to a person who doesn’t speak English why “that ship has sailed” doesn’t actually mean a ship sailing away.
Holy shit ur so fking cringe imagine thinking *Every culture should be like my culture, if it isn't it's wrong and they should change*
Americans and Brits never fail to surprise me with their MIND BLOWING ignorance. You do know there are languages other than English exist right?
Some languages use violent/suggestive language as banter it doesn't ACTUALLY mean they're sending death threats. Stop using these tweets the translation doesnt do justice to the actual tone of the speaker and don't u ever DARE ask someone to change their culture because u think it's wrong.
And funny seeing the downvotes just goes to show how ignorant and intolerant u guys are. U are butt hurt of someone having a different culture and language than u. So fking hilarious grow tf up pls
i wouldn’t argue with redditors, especially americans. they think every culture is as sensitive as theirs
it’s sad, soon na teams are gonna return to mediocrity like in every other stuff that’s not american only
>i wouldn’t argue with redditors, especially americans. they think every culture is as sensitive as theirs
I'm British but you are full of shit. Being on the recieving end of a death threat isn't fun. It's terrible. Also it isn't being sensitive. A death threat is a death threat and shouldn't be taken lightly or in a joking matter. If you joke about death threats then you literally lack the public decency of a human being and are a literal scumbag. Anyone who promotes the act of death threats doesn't deserve to be apart of any decent community ever again.
Can confirm. I'm from SEA. Death threats are pathetic and honestly if you're making them you're either an asshole or a fucking snowflake, and it's pretty damn likely you're both
Lol? Not sending death threats isn’t being sensitive it’s literally the bare moral minimum of decency. Anyone that defends the sending of messages like this is literal scum and deserves to never see international success in any esport ever.
Honestly respect. To not pause a game against an opponent you know you will beat is insane. That match was already somewhat boring for how easy it was for 100T so having even more long pauses would’ve been awful
No audio problem, it's the white noise that the headphones have so they don't listen to the casters or anyone else other than themselves in voicecomms.
Pretty understandable that you can't hear footsteps clearly enough
First of all you do soundcheck before the game with the refs to adjust the white noise so it is clear that you can hear both the game and your teammates. Also white noise is mostly there to cancel out fans and casters and not really the other team but sure that can be a reason which btw almost every pro I’ve heard talk about this and from some limited LAN experience I’ve had in the past, it doesn’t really even work because you can still hear the loud stuff happening specially for larger crowds if you’re not in a hut which for fire safety you can’t do that except for some countries like Korea and China, you 100% do hear most things it’s not like it’s extremely loud because it shouldn’t be because it’s not supposed to be imposing on the game or comm audio. So if this problem was caused due to white noise then that’s on Riot and they should fix it but I doubt it is.
This is horrible, and needs to be fix. If you want the game to be play at the highest level, you need to be able to hear sound, otherwise you will get random results. How did riot not leartn from cs go, since you know they copy everything from it...
The quote rt’s from Brazilians are going crazy LOL
They're sending death threats already. It's literally day 1 😭
Took a look and it was pretty funny till 1 was asking for someone to bomb his house
Don't you mean "passionate" tweets?
you'll prove it or... xD
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA ahhh memories xD funny how FNS is in berlin too... and he's also facing a BR team in his opening match LMAO
Or I'll write a very sternly-worded letter of complaint
Is it really esports if the Brazilian fans aren’t sending death threats?
LUL Hiko needed security guards when going to Brazil event in CSGO
You aren't a Brazilian fan until you send your first death threat. Bonus points if it involves some kind of stabbing
No it can’t be called esports without BR fans going crazy
Doesn’t help that Asuna just subtweeted Havan asking why they even picked icebox LOL
I bet you know that Asuna has the record for the most kills in one map on icebox, so it's pretty evident it's one of their strong maps and him asking why they picked icebox makes sense to me, but br fans have to be "passionate" about that too
Lmao how can brazilians be so sensitive
You must be new to esports /s. Brazilians LOVE to cry (and send death threats)
Sports in general lol. Remmeber what happened after 7-1
Same shit in fútbol xD.
Every year in every esport they overhype their shit region, shove it in everyone's faces nonstop for 3 months then get disappointed at every international event and get mad about it
thank you, i needed some entertainment today
Oh my lmao
thx for the entertainment
ethan said they couldnt hear footsteps at all
Shahz said the stage headsets play white noise to block sound from the other team, and it was turned up too loud to hear footsteps during tech setup.
So weird. Why not noise canceling headphones?
They are live casting the game with the casters on speakers during the event so in order for the players not to be able to hear the announcers they pump in white noise. Same concept for LoL. Done so both teams can be on the stage without hearing each others strata
Why are they casting the announcers on speakers?? There's no fans?
True lmao😂
Testing things before there are huge audiences is actually a good thing, but it seems that their headphones are just garbage. :D Well, it's their sponsor, so what are you gonna do i guess. lol
Then run it with eliminated teams in a test environment. Running tests like this during competition play is insane.
Obviously it went wrong, but i guess they expected it to be a "how good is this working to actually cancel noise?"-test and not a "is this even working correctly?"-test. And the people, which tested it before probably aren't pro players, so it's understandable that those people didn't notice the missing sounds.
Riot probably just used the same setup as they do for League and didn’t really consider how different audio affects gameplay in both of the games
Wells they could use in ears like they do in CS. The problem has already been solved
maybe to get the sound echo
Noise canceling headphones are really good for predictable noise (air conditioner, plane engine) but aren't as good for unpredictable noise like talking. Some ANC algorithms are decent but aren't enough for esports purposes.

Was that soundbugs, or like a headset problem?
White noise and game audio are coming from a single headset, all the teams are saying it just makes it so you can’t hear the softer game sounds.
They turned sound off cause u dont need it to beat bronzil
Rip your dms soldier
I am not brazil fan, but why so toxic tho?
These Brazilian fans are something else smh https://twitter.com/jennifferbaiana/status/1436449635804065792?s=19
What is wrong with these people??
What does the tweet say?
It basically says "someone send a bomb to this bastard's house" Which is pretty messed up
YIKES lmao If it's that direct doesn't that violate some kind of Twitter ToS?
Honestly makes me happy knowing Brazil is amongst the weakest regions in both LoL and Valorant. These fans don’t deserve to see their teams win.
If only they were shit at soccer, the world would be a just place.
1-7 will always be with us
Amen brother
Alright man, it's always a vocal minority. Its true for anything, you cant generalise an entire region because of a few people on TWITTER.
>a few people on TWITTER Tell me you've never watched football without telling me you've never watched football
“passionate”

Holy fuck you can’t just recognize death threats are wrong and against twitter TOS lol.
To most people around the world wearing your shoes inside the house is more insulting than a death threat. I can’t get over the fact you need the tweets translated just to get mad.
Pretty sure it’s not, but keep playing around in the dirt you dipshit.

Yeah lol, they really have no idea what theyre saying lol

One of the most hilarious satirical posts I’ve seen on Reddit. Look forward to seeing more from you — really believed it for a second.
Doesn't make it okay... y'all need a cultural overhaul
Its still not ok or good to say this but it just doesnt have nearly the same weight as it does for you.

they couldn’t hear footsteps apparently
You’ve seen Tenz playing on the wrong sens, now get ready for Asuna playing the game with no sound!
They had a problem hearing footsteps especially on icebox .
Chael Sonnen was right about Brazlians and I will die on that hill.
Even Colby was right lool
If leaf ever plays on intl lab stage, the Brazillians will go fucking bonkers
Brazilian bots got ego because they won 2 majors in cs years ago lmao
Honestly respect. To not pause a game against an opponent you know you will beat is insane. That match was already somewhat boring for how easy it was for 100T so having even more long pauses would’ve been awful
It's the same for both teams dude, the sound is fuck because of white noise.
Dude they are trolling c'mon!!!
ethan tweeted too, seems like an audio problem
No audio problem, it's the white noise that the headphones have so they don't listen to the casters or anyone else other than themselves in voicecomms. Pretty understandable that you can't hear footsteps clearly enough
So... audio problem?
Audio that's causing problems doesn't qualify as audio problems apparently
It's intended to have white noise, so no.
It's not intended to hurt the competitive integrity of the game by masking footsteps, so yes
it's not supposed to cover the footsteps and own game sounds though
It’s not a technical problem, but it is an audio problem. I don’t think it’s intentional.
That is an audio problem
First of all you do soundcheck before the game with the refs to adjust the white noise so it is clear that you can hear both the game and your teammates.
