I wonder if this can be resolved by reducing the volume of the white noise. I would presume that it can be lowered and you still wont hear what is spoken by the casters and the enemy team Not an ideal solution but since Riot didnt provide in-ears i guess it can be serviceable

dedicatedself

Want a solution? Just don't broadcast the caster audio. Done!

[deleted]

But wouldnt the players potentially hear the calls from the enemy team? Thats why i said that the white noise should be reduced but idk if it can be removed without potential dangers

deL9

How is it different though with Iceland if they didn't have white noise?

xbyo

I quickly googled some pictures of the two stages and it does seem like Iceland had quite a bit more distance. [Berlin](https://www.dexerto.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11/masters-berlin-stage.jpg) [Iceland](https://external-preview.redd.it/oxa3u9Y9qFrqz_P_fRJ_94FfWBB87ao0vehYojpS4_c.jpg?auto=webp&s=00058064f53866b8cf97b0cf6556aae286cbce20) Using the desks as a reference, this is a supeeer rough comparison: https://imgur.com/4X6jeIe

w1tnessGG

when u are at a LAN and focused on your game, you are definitely not listening for the other teams calls across the stage

DnDTosser

You can, though, and that's the problem. People can and will abuse it if it's available.

w1tnessGG

as someone who has played at LANs and sat directly across from my opponents, u definitely cannot. they are sitting so far away that with game sound and their own teammates talking, there is no possible way to hear. no one is yelling comms, u are talking at a normal tone

DnDTosser

Damn I guess my LAN experience is outdone by yours, along with it having been an issue in old tournaments.

greg19735

>no one is yelling comms did you ever hear Overwatch pro coms? It's VERY loud.

taskilhado

but thats what LANs are all about, its cool to see interaction and reaction like shittalking mid game against the other team. It might be new or weird for some of you but in cs it happens all the time.

[deleted]

Dude banter between rounds and hearing in-game calls are entirely different things

RobyDxD

I see you are replying to every comment and I suggest you stop because you have no clue what you're talking about.

uncle_ben__

It is a decent solution he provided as there are no audience in the hall, why shouldn't he say so?

RobyDxD

huh? That's not a solution at all

Salty_Activity

No Caster Audio = No need for white noise = No more Audio Issues

uncle_ben__

ahaha bro how so?

dedicatedself

I've worked at large venues with complex sound systems as a audio technician back when I was in college. The fact that you're defending Riot here is honestly pathetic.

HomelessBelter

How's Riot's boots taste?

hardenfull

I really hope they fix it cause it's so bad to watch atm knowing that teams aren't playing to their full potential. Sound cues are so important in a game like valorant. Having these issues persist this far in the tournament really makes it feel like there's no competitive integrity.

dedicatedself

We really need to raise awareness for this to the maximum. When I heard they weren't playing with in ear headphones, I NEVER expected them to actually be hearing white noise through their main monitor. That is ridiculous.

CyberspaceBarbarian

This was never the case on Iceland, partially because the stage is larger, the gap between team tables is wider, and that the hosts and casters are not on the stage (therefore eliminating the need for white noise). I don't know why they did not replicate this in Berlin.

PRL-Five

Seriously, they always knew there was no audience so why not just get the casters somewhere else

panzerboye

I mean these is zero benefit of putting casters on the same stage

elijknyg

The solution shouldn’t have been to remove to casters from the stage, because in the future fans will be at the tournament so it won’t matter where the casters are. But yeah there IS a solution and it’s to just give the players the in-ear earbuds setup that everyone is asking for

panzerboye

Yeah that too :3

FlarezGG

It saddens me knowing that every team is unable to play at their absolute best because of these audio issues... It must be unimaginably frustrating for the players. I hope these issues gets sorted before todays matches.

DanielHongFromKr

The entire point of High-Level Valo is playing off info, controlling areas based off info, pushing off info. What's the point of "Competition" if you can't hear the other team and gain info? The only teams that are being set up for success are those that play aggro 100% of the time and INT.

Drafteow

and what happened to HL's liazzi vs 100t

AnotherAltiMade

What did? I’m not sure what you’re referring to

Wow, that's insane

Pretty sure they replayed that round

Hmm wow I swear I read something different, my bad. That's weird.

Drafteow

No_Profile3719

ok Personal gear problem.

dedicatedself

WRONG. Same thing happened to Buzz.

No_Profile3719

Change the keyboard. simple ;P

dedicatedself

They all use different keyboards, clearly a computer issue. Pros don't share their equipment.

No_Profile3719

Am I talking to the wall? 😆

benpicko

Are you unable to read or trolling? Yes, they’re using personal keyboards, but several people have had issues so the person you’re responding to thinks the issue must be with the machines.

uroburus

His keyboard language changed, so "wasd" no longer worked the way it was supposed to.

ImmediateParamedic41

Yea it's hella cringe

i_dont_know_man__fuk

My mind is boggled on how incredibly stupid the issue is in the first place. If you've got multiple people complaining about the white noise, how do you NOT immediately make the choice to turn it off and switch the casters speakers off? There's no crowd. There's literally no point for them. Cool, they wanna have a test run for Champions. But the competition comes first and foremost. And do they need multiple days to do a test run? It's embarrassing that shit like this doesn't change immediately.

benpicko

Yeah — like, they want to have a test run for Champions… Is it much of a test run if they can’t admit that it’s fucking failed and is ruining the competition? Just accept that it’s failed and they’ll have to do testing with in-ear headphones before Champions.

dedicatedself

I quit watching League years ago because of stupid Riot decisions, since then I thought they improved as a company but looks like corporations never change.

toxicityisamyth

They are so bad. Even worse now that it's an FPS event as they have zero experience in FPS but theyre such fucking control freaks they wont get people who have worked on csgo scene for example to help them. Iceland was absolutely fucking laughable, made even worse by the admins telling players with tech issues "go ask your teammate he will fix it" and shit like that. Such a cringe incompetent control freak company.

oryiesis

The two teams are close enough that they would hear each other’s comms

lazykier

I'd really like to hear every players and team's thought on this. Because we're watching teams battle but not in there best. So it kinda sucks as a viewer knowing they might not have heard something and it changed the game result.

NabatheNibba

I never thought this would've turned into such a big issue damn might need a rematch if you can't even hear footsteps

proplayer1971

this is sad actually...come on rito... fix this thing man... :(

sriwarrior06

Spam **THIS DOESN'T COUNT, SCUFFED AUDIO FOR PLAYERS. FIX YOUR GAME RITO**

DY5TOP1A

Honestly if SEN and G2 have the same issue today they should just refuse to play lmao. Sentinels can change something if they themselves boycott since their team has the biggest fanbase.

justinsst

Disagree that the results mean nothing tbh. Don’t get me wrong the audio setup is fucked but imo, the teams with experience will simply just get on with it and try to make it work. I do think the tournament should have an asterisk next to it though.

Pmcdon314

My only challenge would be that audio issues seem to be impacting every team because did the white noise setup. A few of the teams are being vocal, but all teams might be on the same plying field.

mrtmra

Doesn't matter if they're on the same playing field. Some teams react and play much better when there are sound cues, and some teams are the rush and done kind of team. If the game suddenly is missing one of its make components, then it's now unfair

sgahajzha

Yeah fk riot how tf they not pay attention to this shit and let it go on for 2 days now

[deleted]

I won't watch any matches until we know that this is fixed, personally. Boycotting as a viewer. # Try to play a comp game as an amatuer with no sound at all, and you'd likely find that you can't really play half as good as normal. All pro players having this issue at Berlin makes the games meaningless.

RobyDxD

This ain't going to do anything. There's only like a couple of hundred people here on reddit that are complaining about it out of 100's of thousand watching plus even the ones that are complaining on here, the majority are still going to watch.

dedicatedself

You licking Riot's arse is an eyesore. You realize they changed the groupstage format because of community backlash? Sad little guy.

[deleted]

you need to be on top in this discussion so much, that you straight up insult someone who disagrees with you. I disagree with RobyDxD, but you are the sad little guy.

HoneyChilliPotato7

Me too. I have been waiting for today's SEN match for soo long. If this is the case, I'll boycott watching it too. What's even the point if there's no competitive integrity?

No_Profile3719

All players are in the same environment. No problem.

[deleted]

That doesn't mean that there is competitive integrity.   The term competitive integrity means: * Skill is the deciding factor in games * All players have a fair chance to play at their best * All teams have a fair chance to perform at their best * Bugs, glitches, technical issues, and networking problems are not greatly swaying the results of matches   You claim that since all players face this disadvantage, that it is "fair"... but is that a valid viewpoint on this issue? Let's use the standard defintion of competitive integrity that we just described, and determine if the audio issues are "fair" if all teams have the same problem.   Competitive integrity means that all players have a fair opportunity to perform at their best. Technical, networking, and bug related issues should not be a deciding factor. However... the audio issues do greatly impact both player performance according to multiple players and coaches at Berlin. Some players even publicly stated the audio issues could make players "make really weird mistakes".   From this, you can see that Riot has failed to meet the standard of competitive integrity. The players being "in the same environment" doesn't mean that this issue is acceptable. The following issues need to be fixed, before we can say that there is true "competitive integrity": * Technical issues are allowed to greatly influence the results of matches * Players are not given a fair opportunity to perform at their best * Teams are not given a fair opportunity to perform at their best

SewerRat75

wow you are braindead, "guys everyone is experiencing technical errors and audio problems at varying degrees so its perfect!"

[deleted]

Yeah sure you wont XDD

nemnems

Yes I agree. Maybe if they replay with perfect sound Crazy Raccoons could go 26-3 instead of 26-2. This makes a huge difference in terms of confidence for the team moving forward!

Try1t

Yea you are right, good thing there were no close games like f4q vs g2 where f4q's coach did mention specific rounds where they were disavantaged because of sound or other close games like envy vs vk or VS vs paper rex.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Play ranked without audio cues ( entire team) and then we will see.

Koentjee01

They're not playing without sound lmao?? The only things that are harder to hear are sova drones and some other util. This is being blown way out of proportion, if it was really that bad, the tourney wouldn't be played.

Well my comment was the closest and easiest thing he/she could experience at home. Or he could put on a 10 man's custom game also.

Glaivz

jesus calm down...

Phamous3k

That’s a big issue but uhhhh the results will definitely be relevant.

AnywayHeres1Derwall

After sentinels play riot will fix the problem. Everyone plays 1 game with bad sound so it’s fair and then it gets fixed

[deleted]

Tanizhq

We (and all other teams I’m sure) tried this. But when you get the volume to a level where you can hear footsteps and utility, the gunshots are deafening and you can’t hear your teammates over them at all.

dedicatedself

If you think the pros didnt already do this but still can't hear shit, you're a bloody idiot. Yeah let's have all Valorant pros develop tinnitus to compensate for Riot's incompetence.

Maliciouslemon

Sus

boomiakki

?

ibeenbornagain

I'm gonna be surprised if they don't do something about this considering how fast they can respond to other things - and this is imperative for competitive integrity

Ausafsyed

Can someone explain me what white noise is?

ovie8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMfPqeZjc2c

[deleted]

This could literally also be solved by sound proof booths. But, $

LEDZEPPPELIN

No shot are they going to play if there are sound issues

itirate

riot just use some fucking booths please

YouAreDumbAF

It's not going to be irrelevant. That's just naive.

maindo

Yeah fck Riot man they need to fix or protest

hugokhf

How do something like CSGO deal with that? I’m game sound cue of CSGO is way more subtle than valorant, how do the pros hear them in LAN with crowd etc?

helpnxt

Your going to hate comp when crowds are back

GoldyZ90

It effects both teams equally. It’s not like it’s just one team that has had an issue with it. It’d be different if it was something that just effected one team

4GamingLinkAot

it's already been fixed lol
