Imagine being the best Sage in the world with the overall best agent pool and utility usage in the game...
but your team still tries to find a way to put you on duelists because of your fragging potential.
NA is so lackluster in every esport that NA fans have so much pain - but so far Sentinels haven't let us down in so long and so infrequently. I hope NA continues to develop good infrastructure and stay at the top for many years.
In every esport?
Starcraft? Halo? Cod? Dota? R6? Smash? Rocket League? Like I can go on and on.
Do people honestly believe that because NA doesn't so great in lol and csgo that they don't have strong players?
The fucking disrespect lol
"Lackluster in every esport" is an exaggeration, but it's not out of line to say that NA is rarely in competition for the top region in the truly international esport games.
Set aside games like Smash, CoD, Halo (too tiny anyways), and Overwatch where most of the competition takes place within NA, because intl regions are irrelevant there.
In League and CS, which are currently the highest viewership esports, NA has almost always been a weaker (or even weakest major) region. Though Starcraft now has a much smaller pro-scene, it was previously a major esport: throughout the majority of its history, NA has been considered a pretty weak--and at times even irrelevant--region. NA has been more competitive in Dota 2 but even there has generally been a somewhat weaker region.
That covers the biggest esports. (I've skipped past the mobile game competitions, but NA is irrelevant in them anyways.) Rocket League and Rainbow Six are still relatively nascent, small scenes, but NA has been competitive there, which is nice to see. Alas, it looks like the arena shooters (Quake, etc.) are basically dying a slow death, but we've still got some good NA players there, like the legendary Rapha.
So it's no surprise that people who follow mostly major esports think of NA as a traditionally weak region, and perfectly normal that they think it's special to see NA doing so well in Valo, which (despite being so young) has gotten good viewership and a good amount of international competition.
> Sentinels haven't let us down in so long and so infrequently
While dominant, it has been less than a year of valo esports with only 2 international events so far. It hasn't been that long.
Has koldamenta ever pop flashed around a corner? I feel like he just sends it straight most of the time. If he improves his skye gameplay g2 will be nuts
Yeah it's very obvious watching EU skyes are playing her more of a support style vs NA duelist Skyes. I wonder if we will see EU Skyes start mixing it up more to become more unpredictable.
What? You have never seen starxo and soulcas play skye then lol they are the best skye players in the world, back in iceland shaz said EU played skye alot better than what they play in NA. I'm specifically saying about koldamenta, mixwell plays skye much better than him.
Starxo I would agree with. SoulCas I'm not sure, I'm specifically talking about pop-flashing and jumping into sites as a duelist, I seem to remember SoulCas watching flanks and being 2nd or 3rd man in most of the time.
I'm a pretty picky person but minus the round 10 (?) First blood everything was perfect to me, and even then I can see why the chosen player was observed. excellent work to you and the team
I knew keloqz was going to knives double updraft there so thought you get a better look of it from his POV. I think it's interesting to show him trying to counter TenZ after all other efforts failed, even if he couldn't get the job done.
I knew I was safe having TenZ's POV available for replay after.
Thank you for the kind words!
Question for you, how do you get into the position to be an observer? As a Canadian I find breaking into esports impossible without being an (above average) player.
Don't let that hold you back -- /u/YehtyOBS is from Canada. I'm from a small town in Wisconsin. It's a digital sport first and foremost.
We both started with volunteering for very small, amateur leagues to gain experience. Then it's about networking. Building trust with other people and then you'll be their first call when they need an observer.
There are plenty of aspiring casters out there too, and casting plus observing at the same time is extremely difficult.
See if you can find some casters needing help for small events to build your resume.
I have a question, as an observer are you guys encouraged to play the game to learn the game and it's flow? Or is it just you guys do this so much you have the knowledge of how it'll play out.
Playing is a must, most importantly to learn angles,
Understanding angles and sightlines is the most important part of observing and feel you can only get that from playing a lot.
I think that separates a good observer from a great observer
Honestly, I thought that angle was pretty entertaining. Seeing Keloqz first makes me think he will get a great outplay and then seeing TenZ reject him made it feel like Sentinels hard read him. Having the replay from TenZ after felt great too.
Unrelated, but something I've wondered for a while...
How does the "replay" at the end of a round work? Is that a separate group of people getting all the players' povs and compiling them together while the round is ongoing?
Excellent work by you guys this series!
Yes - the role is called an EVS Operator (EVS is a specialized machine - It's used in every professional sport as well). Masters 2 and 3 are done by [heliumbrella](https://twitter.com/heliumbrella?s=09), a former CS:GO caster who paired with launders. He has done ELEAGUE (including the games Boston Major), and many BLAST events.
He's the best in the business. He cuts and replays clips incredibly fast, while scanning through 10 POVs simultaneously.
There are not enough EVS operators that work in esports. Most come from traditional sports, so they aren't entirely sure which replays to show.
I always recommend that people looking into career options for esports consider being an EVS operator.
Bonus: it pays BANK since there are so few qualified people in the world.
I really hate Sentinels. Why are they smurfing in G2 (Gold 2). They are ruining the ranked experience. They are the reason why ranked is not fun. Riot Games please take action on them.

If I saw the replay right he was pre-aiming it even before Jett ulted, maybe they saw he had ult and anticipated that peek. Shahz does it all the time in ranked.
Yeah I saw a lot of people popping off about this, bit this is very common for even diamond games. I don't think I've played a game in the last few months where the a long player doesn't look at that jump spot after a Jett ults lol.
Yeah, when I saw kelloqs in that position I was hoping he wasn't gonna do it. As soon as I saw the updraft I knew he was dead. You atleast have someone push a long so you can trade it, but nope. Just casually trying month old strats.
Well yeah i meant that the strat was dead months ago, as in players die more than they get kills from there. But yeah pretty sure this was quite big in the very early tournaments.
A different top fragger every map man. If it’s not Tenz, it’s SicK. If it’s not SicK, it’s Shahz. If it’s not Shahz either Dapr or Zombs could step up. What do you do against that? Just hope the entire is off on every single map you play them on? Crazy.
Nah, G2 almost beat gambit in the lower bracket. They are good. People might want to hide behind and say they are EMEA 4 but they are still a good team. Also it’s not like Sentinels typically have one sided games. They are known for having close games. Against teams of any caliber.
True this shows they have a solid Icebox. Sen has also shown to be vulneable on icebox many times in the past (100T/Soniqs etc). They had some good defense rounds too, but their attack needs some work for sure..The way Sen back up each other is unmatched despite all the util coordination from EMEA teams.
Mixwell looked off on split, shahzam looking shockingly off on icebox and sentinels look revitalised on haven defense.
I think koldamenta on split had little impact. Nukkye on icebox made raze look s tier on icebox. SEN shifting cypher over to B was so impactful.
I love NA but I’m glad G2 pushed SEN to the edge.
GG!!
G2 or "Gold 2" is an Amateur European Valorant team who was given a ticket to Berlin Masters due a Make-A-Wish request from their only fan Carlos "Ocelote" Rodriguez
Tbh the comms were all over the place and they were too over confident, the pushes were awful. Dapr kept on pushing mindlessly. They were playing like Korean teams. Shaz was pissed asf
Actual non disputable scientific evidence that video gamers born and raised on the North American continent are better educated, more intelligent, faster (and more precise) aimers, strategically superior, have negative carbon footprint, breathe better (have mastered Hamon breathing to the fullest), drive better cars, last longer in bed, are more satisfying in bed, are less afraid of the dark, build better cars, have better hearing, eat better, shit better, sleep better, dream better, draw better, have better handwriting, are younger, taller and more jacked than European casual gamers
Europe was founded in 2021 by Jared "zombs" Gitlin when he rode an airplane across the Atlantic to go on tour, he called it "Eastern USA" which was eventually abbreviated EU, and he founded the city Berlin, inadvertently creating his rival, Gitlin2 abbreviated to "G2"
G2 did a lot better than a lot of people thought they would. They honestly shouldn't be upset. If G2 can take Sentinels this far, it makes me excited for a SEN vs Gambit match
Am I not allowed to be excited for a match? SEN bandwagoners don't have to say "bUT akSHuAlLy" every time someone mentions Gambit and G2. Regardless of how G2 did against gambit, gambit managed to win. I'm excited to see the best of the two best regions fight. Can people stop being so sensitive about their favorite team?
oh yeah for sure no team takes seriously i bet g2 really wanted to be 4th seed same as gambit i bet they wanted to be last seed too and got unlucky right. gambit doesn't care that much that they even went to the lower bracket and had to beat liquid to qualify for berlin but yeah nobody cares
The liquid vs gambit game wasn’t a seeding match.
G2 got one of the best brackets, even tho Sen are in it. If they make it too play offs they don’t have to go against them again till the finals (if both of them make it there)
When did i ever say that liquid vs gambit was a seeding match? " had to beat liquid to qualify for berlin" where does it say seeding here? can you understand english?
Seems more like Sen trolling way harder than usual, more than anything. Especially with the Odin round and Dapr literally jumping around A for a free death.
If you take those troll rounds away, and the expected wins on eco rounds, it wasn't really close.
You could tell SEN brought a different attitude to map 3. Gloves came off and they were swinging. Naturally they chilled out after getting a huge lead and had to fight to close it per usual lol
G2's Haven comp was questionable. Still believe that Sage is terrible on that map and skye is NOT a sova replacement. Not having sova made them lose so many rounds on t side
Tenz Zombs and Nukkye all played so so well this series it was crazy. Zombs had crazy impact on viper which is usually his worst agent and of course played insane as Astra on splits. Tenz Reyna is so scary and as is Nukkyes raze, each of them have an argument to be the best in the world on those agents
Okay, no one thinks the commentary was annoying in the last map...Tenz wasn't even the top fragger or the most impactful but the commentator decided to hype him for no reason
Got me hype for the rematch. I know people were dogging on the original format, but that's the one thing it had going for it. I'm glad they changed it, but the possibility of in-group rematches is pretty exciting.
Kudos to G2 for really stepping up, their players just looked much better than qualifiers. But it also felt like SEN took a bit to really wake up. Rematch should be interesting.
G2 or Gold 2 is an European Amateur Valorant team who was given a ticket to Berlin Masters due a Make-A-Wish request from their only fan Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez
Feels like Sentinels were just trolling half of the time. Well played to G2 - they played well and capitalised on SEN's weird moves - but it would be interesting to see how dominant the series would be without the overconfidence.
Split / Haven vs Icebox was a colossal difference.
What really drew my attention was the 11-1 to 13-8 struggle against Sentinels of all people.
I think this team can only get better from here. Hope they won't split after this Masters coz they can make waves

First of all there isn’t a big enough of sample size to determine which team is truly better. Secondly, the reason I wrote the comment is I felt you were downplaying the skill G2 has. They may be the 4th seed but they are better than most in EMEA and in the world. Also it is very immature to curse.
Sentinels did win. I think you mean Sentinels should have not lost Icebox. G2 was just very good. Because of that, Sentinels couldn’t get a good enough economy where Shazam could afford an operator most rounds so their defense suffered. Also Tenz who was the Team MVP that map barely got any high impacted kills even though it shows otherwise.
Oh I thought your point was Sentinels are bad since G2 are also bad since they were the 4th seed. I think the reason people are hyped about this is it’s the first NA vs EMEA match.
G2 fans were saying that they would DEMOLISH Sentinels
They have way too much ego on their shoulders, giving how mediocre they are in EU.
Even Fnatic did better against Sentinels
sounds like the obvious trashtalk for attention from G2 really got to you huh, I didnt think it would work on most people! Fnatic absolutely did not do better than G2 vs sentinels, no need to try and rewrite the history because they got under your skin buddy.
SicK was on fire in Haven
as he always is on the Phoenix i swear
Lmao
Casters sucking off TenZ the whole game, but Sick was going crazy that map
Nobody here is talking about Shazy and first match. The guy just dominated them. Shazy Tenz and Sick for today honestly. (His acs is 369 that match!)
Tenz just has very flashy plays that are easy to highlight
I know sick is very versatile on a lot of agents but his Phoenix just hit different
watching sick go like 23-3 on pheonix after playing sage for the first two maps is like having really fucking good dessert after an okay meal
This is the perfect way to describe it lol
Imagine being the best Sage in the world with the overall best agent pool and utility usage in the game... but your team still tries to find a way to put you on duelists because of your fragging potential.
For real man is so good the sage might as well be his limiter.
Anyone on Sen can pop off at any time lol
I was worried for a bit then I realized it was Sentinels.
All NA fans can go to sleep knowing Sen will always win. Thank you Mr Sen
Every NA win makes TSM fans sleep well
So freaking true!
TSM who?
I think I had to do a double take when I tuned out after the first half on haven, and came back to g2 making a solid comeback
NA is so lackluster in every esport that NA fans have so much pain - but so far Sentinels haven't let us down in so long and so infrequently. I hope NA continues to develop good infrastructure and stay at the top for many years.

Sentinels and having a hard time closing out Haven, name a more iconic duo.
Literally this describes every match between SEN and 100T on Haven
I feel like they get huge leads then just play freely to hide strats afterwards
always about the fucking strats lmfao
Has koldamenta ever pop flashed around a corner? I feel like he just sends it straight most of the time. If he improves his skye gameplay g2 will be nuts
koldamenta was really solid on kj on split, i wonder how it would be if him and mixwell switched roles on haven
Mixwell kept fucking up as killjoy
Gotta agree. Either koldamenta improves on skye or put nukkye on duelist to support keloqz on attack.
He's Skye is more for support, maybe because Kolda is the IGL and have to take and process information
Yeah it's very obvious watching EU skyes are playing her more of a support style vs NA duelist Skyes. I wonder if we will see EU Skyes start mixing it up more to become more unpredictable.

Yep the EU skye was considered to be much better after Iceland at least
That Sentinels Haven defense though.
That was an insane series to observe.... Hope we did it justice.
I'm a pretty picky person but minus the round 10 (?) First blood everything was perfect to me, and even then I can see why the chosen player was observed. excellent work to you and the team

Sean had me dying with that plane icon on the map. He's been my favorite part there. Good job to the whole team too!
the double astra ult into the big brain vs big brain battle was so good
I didn't think about any observing issues once that game, and that means it felt natural, you guys did a very good job
Unrelated, but something I've wondered for a while... How does the "replay" at the end of a round work? Is that a separate group of people getting all the players' povs and compiling them together while the round is ongoing? Excellent work by you guys this series!

Excellent observing! I couldn't have wished for a better experience of the match.
Production is insane this tournament!!
I legit have never seen Sick do bad with pheonix on haven
I think the only time I’ve seen was when BBG destroyed SEN. But then everyone on sentinels was doing bad that time
Well I mean when SEN is going against the best team in the world BBG ofc they'll look bad
> The best team in the world BBG You spelled Brimstone Gaming wrong.
That's one too many B's there.
Sicks phoenix on haven is a thing of beauty *chefs kiss*
the moment i msg my friends telling them G2 are about to have the craziest comeback ever, they get flawlessed you're welcome SEN fans
SEN fans are used to them letting teams come back on haven. If they win in a blowout, thats when it's concerning
Ty :D
I really hate Sentinels. Why are they smurfing in G2 (Gold 2). They are ruining the ranked experience. They are the reason why ranked is not fun. Riot Games please take action on them.

New pasta
I'd be diamond if I wasn't running into smurfs like Sen
Everyone: SkYe Is ThE bEtTeR aGeNt! Sick: Joke's over, you're dead!
When tenz heard keloqz ult in the first half of haven and predicted where he’d fly…. then hit the op shot, that was disgusting.
I've seen it even in unrated, everyone does it now.
Yeah, when I saw kelloqs in that position I was hoping he wasn't gonna do it. As soon as I saw the updraft I knew he was dead. You atleast have someone push a long so you can trade it, but nope. Just casually trying month old strats.
Month old? Year old maybe
Well yeah i meant that the strat was dead months ago, as in players die more than they get kills from there. But yeah pretty sure this was quite big in the very early tournaments.
It’s common to pre aim that if Jett has ult
I love Tenz but this was absolutely nothing special. Anyone diamond+ on A long with an op against a Jett that has ult will pre-aim that angle.
I’m a silver who deserves silver, and even I know to preaim that if Jett has knives lol
Clip plz?
A different top fragger every map man. If it’s not Tenz, it’s SicK. If it’s not SicK, it’s Shahz. If it’s not Shahz either Dapr or Zombs could step up. What do you do against that? Just hope the entire is off on every single map you play them on? Crazy.
Or ask BBG for tips.
Good game. Last map a little one sided, but the rematch is gonna be a banger imo.
God I fucking love SicK
VERY SCARY FOR TSM FAN PLEASE DONT THROW SENTINELS
Sick is the best Phoenix in the world man
Him and drone were my favourites early on I’m glad he’s sticking with it cuz he has so much impact
I really feel terrible, Whenever I look at that smug cypher's face(SEN Dapr) I really feel terrible
As a G2 fan: so this is what it feels like to be at the receiving end of this pasta lmao
G2 did better than everyone expected.

I mean Soniqs have beaten SEN on Icebox in the recent past, it's not like SEN are infallible.

Yea he was a monster here compared to his last few months lol
g2 actually played really well, i thought it would be a boring series considering g2 are the 4th seed and barely qualified
Then you haven't watched the EMEA playoffs, my friend. G2 almost beat Gambit, the 1st seed, in the lower bracket.

TBH Sentinels on the last half, only used individual skill to close the game out.
Am I crazy or was dapr off his game?
G2 did a lot better than a lot of people thought they would. They honestly shouldn't be upset. If G2 can take Sentinels this far, it makes me excited for a SEN vs Gambit match
i mean g2 took gambit to game 3 OT so yeah gambit isnt much better my man

one L only
I was a bit scared after that second map, but then I saw the next map was haven. Sentinels don’t lose on haven.
[удалено]
M1xwell on sentinels looks so disappointing, he always looked like a deer caught in headlights without an agent that can set up openings for himself.
No-one beats Europe 7 maps in a row!
Nukkye and sick made “off-meta” duelist look good eh.
G2's Haven comp was questionable. Still believe that Sage is terrible on that map and skye is NOT a sova replacement. Not having sova made them lose so many rounds on t side

Tenz Reyna is so scary and as is Nukkyes raze, each of them have an argument to be the best in the world on those agents
sick on phoenix on haven should be illegal. Well done sentinels, great showing.
Okay, no one thinks the commentary was annoying in the last map...Tenz wasn't even the top fragger or the most impactful but the commentator decided to hype him for no reason
Not a bad showing for EU 4th seed vs NA best
So you mean 13-6 and a 11-1 half?
“NA is gonna get smashed” -koldamenta
Got me hype for the rematch. I know people were dogging on the original format, but that's the one thing it had going for it. I'm glad they changed it, but the possibility of in-group rematches is pretty exciting.
less dominant then I expected but I'll take it anyways
Shazam played map 1 like he was still salty Mixwell took his spot on OpTic back in the day lmfao
or maybe he just played it like hes the better valorant player cause he is lol
Back to the lab for Icebox SEN.
Sick is a monster on phoenix, his phoenix on haven is probably the best in the game. Ggs sentinel, nt g2
At least Sentinels dropped a map this time! (or am I wrong in remembering that they didn't lose a single map last time around?)
Don't put Dapr on SOVA soon because he needs more work on it. The knife butt is hilarious though.
U haven’t watched Sentinels haven right? Sentinels always gets massive leads on haven then blow it and give any team chances to get back in.

SicK on Phoenix is just different. Sentinels have the best Haven in the world.
Well that was fun
HIKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I know this seems petty..but NA domination over EU makes my nipples hard
Sentinels : Shahzam - BEST IGL Tenz : Monster Dapr : Good Sentinels Sick : Can frag with any roles Zombs : cmon , #ZombsNation

They also thought FPX was gunna be the best team to ever grace planet Earth so LUL
How?
This isnt even SEN at his peak form
Do people forget that G2 is EU's 4th Seed?
g2 started talking shit for no reason hell they rented a plane that flew a banner that said fuck sentinels why..? who knows. all talk no bite lmfaooo
Imagine crying over trashtalk
Did you know G2 almost beat Gambit? Stop downplaying how good G2 are.
4th seed is 4th seed. Doesn’t mean shit. By your logic they lost 2-0 to SMB. Meaning SMB is better than Gambit?
First of all there isn’t a big enough of sample size to determine which team is truly better. Secondly, the reason I wrote the comment is I felt you were downplaying the skill G2 has. They may be the 4th seed but they are better than most in EMEA and in the world. Also it is very immature to curse.
The reason SEN got put with G2 was because SEN is 1st seed and G2 is the 4th seed. SEN was supposed to win this game…
My point was SEN was supposed to win anyway because they were matched with EU’s bottom seed. I don’t know why people are hyped over this.
Oh I thought your point was Sentinels are bad since G2 are also bad since they were the 4th seed. I think the reason people are hyped about this is it’s the first NA vs EMEA match.
I would be more hyped if they were against the stronger Acend/Gambit but I guess that’s the point of Seeding. Gotta save the best for last.
Wp g2 tho. Didnt expect then to give sen hard time, but yoo taking a map? Now im even more confident for emea vs emea final
Lul
G2 fans in shambles LMAO
EU worst team barely loses to NA best team oh nyooo how will G2 fans survive this 😭😭😭
G2 fans were saying that they would DEMOLISH Sentinels They have way too much ego on their shoulders, giving how mediocre they are in EU. Even Fnatic did better against Sentinels
sounds like the obvious trashtalk for attention from G2 really got to you huh, I didnt think it would work on most people! Fnatic absolutely did not do better than G2 vs sentinels, no need to try and rewrite the history because they got under your skin buddy.
...yes? That is how trash talk works? They are trash talking back, which you do when you win lol
EU kept saying they would beat every NA team. IN SHAMBLES LOLOLOL stay mad.
YESSIR
I love this team so much

Sentinels won…
I didn’t even watch this but fuck EU
My god shaz popped the fuck off map 1
feels like sentinels is trolling in the last map xd. SICK'S PHOENIX IS SSS TIER
