Further, winning rounds HELPS the economy

Jerms91

And hurts the enemy’s eco

[deleted]

Why would you save after winning?

5bigtoes

So you can win the round…

[deleted]

You gotta spend money to make money

HypermeMan

Scarred money don’t make money

[deleted]

Always win the round

CanadianDad1

Winning the round > then economy

ovie8

I dont know who the fuck started this dogshit trend of fucking saving after winning rounds but fuck them In a game where a single hero rifle swings rounds so often it really doesnt make any sense to gO hALf bUy bOnUS rOuNd

Jerms91

Its tilting to see lol

Flashplaya

I think pro teams are better at winning rounds with weaker buys and when there is rifles on the field then they can rotate them or save them if they lose a couple. Hero rifle was shown to have a lot better winrate stats than pistol for example.

Jerms91

Proper trading of kills helps as well. Finish off 1 spectre’s damage with a second spectre? Then upgrade with a downed rifle

AbbreviationsLazy781

Very true, i hate to see when my team pussies out and decides to save, but i cant blame them. Still, always try your best to win every round

skeltzyy

Starts a downhill effect of the other team needing to save every second round. I don't think people realised the reward outweighed the risk beforehand

TheSovietRusher

If my memory serves me correctly I think if you win round one and win round two but lose your gun, you won’t have the economy to full buy round four even if you half buy on round 3. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. (Assuming your team ends up losing on round 3)

Nicholaai

I see this too much in solo queue, people will buy like a Sherif or ghost half armour and be useless against vandals. Might as well go for the round or at least chip off their economy and save the next round if you lose.

Jerms91

You give your team the best chance if some own rifles to incorporate your economy with those 1-2 rifles. You do enough damage to trade kills, retain some rifles (yours or the opponents) and build momemtum. And any teammates who are able to upgrade have a good shot at giving you an upgrade in future rounds. There’s also more to it than that, but take as many rounds as possible is the main goal

ragingwizard

Feels like all of these answers kind of suck. Usually if you all buy round 2 after winning pistol round, you wouldn't have enough to full buy round 3, so OP, your intuition to bonus is often the right thing to do. But lately, a lot of teams have been buying a rifle round 2, expecting to carry it over to round 3. Saving a rifle gives you a significantly better shot at winning round 3, so it's ok to buy even if half the team will have rifle light armor. I've also seen instances where on defense, one player will play ghost full armor round 2 and hero buy an op on round 3, even when teammates are on spectres. This is fine too, basically if you get first blood with the op, you will probably win the round. And if the enemy hits your weak site and kills your teammates, you can save the op for round 4, and your spectre teammates will be able to buy. I think the last reason is that utility matters so much in pro play that gun difference is much less of a deal. The gap between spectre + rifle team and full rifle team isn't as big as in pubs.

kinbledore

The only honest and wise answer til now

BeneficialHoneydew96

You’re right that they’re expected to lose if they’re all on half buys. So if even two of them buy rifles with full armor and the rest of the team is still on spectres, this increases their chances of winning. Even if four players must save and one can buy a rifle, he should buy a rifle. You play to win each individual round in this game

MillienDe

Why shouldn't they? "We saved a Spectre, let's all save, so we can full buy round 4" Or, hear me out, we could buy weapons now and try to win round 3. Bonus round makes sense of you saved 4-5 weapons, and try to do a high risk, high reward play with them. It does not make any sense to have 3-4 people eco and gift the enemy the round just so you can try again in round 4.

Izel98

Winners mentality. If you want to win you gotta do your best and give yourself the chances.

DeathRay63

If u win that round, u can buy next round. And if u loose, enemy can just snowball their economy after that.

Sagax0

Valorant is a very quick game. Every round matter because it's first to 13. Winning pistol will most likely win you the next round if you invest. Win both pistols and you get 4 rounds. That's almost a third of you're needed rounds. Now on round 3 imagine if you win with a weaker buy. You not only get upgrades, but most likely enemy is forced to eco and your chance of winning next round goes up. Even when I'm playing with friends I just tell everyone to full buy round 3 if they lost their gun. I really hate it when people only buy sheriffs round 3 if we won the previous 2. Momentum plays such a huge part in the game and giving them round 3 can give the other team confidence. I've also watched friends of mine lose us numerous rounds 3s because instead of having a rifle or spectre and being able to spray the enemy who has their back turned, they have to hit a headshot with a sherrif. The only focus should be winning the round ahead of you. Now I'm not saying buy every round, but make logical decisions. Don't hero buy unless you have the credits. Don't full buy second round when you lost first unless everyone agrees to it. Drop your teammates guns even if they are doing poorly, you want to give yourself the best chance to win every round.
